BURBERRY’SVISIONSince its founding in 1856, Burberry has become defined by its outerwear heritage and its iconic trench coat. When Thomas Burberry invented gabardine, the Burberry brand became synonymous with the passionate adventurers, avi-ators, cartographers and mountain climbers who wore his coats while pushing the boundaries of human experience.

The Burberry Foundation recognises the nature of explo-ration has changed, however the challenges young people face today are no less daunting than the South Pole was a century ago.

Just as Burberry clothed and encouraged past explorers, the Burberry Foundation helps young people navigate the uncertain terrain of their age and the complex world in which we live today. By helping them to develop new skills, confidence and ambition, the Burberry Foundation aims to kindle their innate creativity and empower them to realise their dreams.

The brand is founded by 21-year-old Thomas Burberry.

Cara Delevingne has won her first fragrance campaign, as the face of the new Burberry Body scent, Tender. Shot by fellow Burberry favourite Mario Testino, the cam-paign sees Delevingne sporting one of the brand’s famous trenches whilst reclining on a boat on the River Thames.

The fragrance itself is a comple-ment to the original Burberry Body fragrance, fronted by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and features notes of lemon, rose, jasmine and sandalwood.

“Burberry Body was always about creating something that captures all the different characteristics of the Burberry girl.

With Body Tender, we wanted to explore and bring out the softer, more playful sides of her - cap-turing this light femininity in the scent as well as the campaign,” said Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s chief creative officer. “Cara’s nat-ural beauty and vibrant energy lit up alongside London’s magnificent architecture.”

The music accompanying the ad-vert is Misty Miller’s cover of The Turtles’ Happy Together, featured just weeks after it was played as the opening track at Burberry’s autumn/winter 2013-14 show in London. A Burberry family affair indeed.

In caramel and black, maroon and honey - for more of those semi-transpar-ent fabrications, this time on body-hugging dresses - it al-ways stayed true to Burberry but bridged a gap into a new safari world. Unexpect-ed but clever - and all the while with singer Tom Odell (whose vocals features in the spring/summer 2013 campaign), sang out heart-render-ing tales at the catwalk entrance. Cue applause.

Burberry today announces that it will be moving its menswear show to London after more than ten years of showing in Milan.

Following the return of the Burb-erry womenswear show to London in 2009, the menswear collection will be shown as part of London Collections: Men on 18 June 2013.

Burberry has been supporting London Collections: Men since its launch in June 2012, hosting events in celebration of British menswear at the brand’s Knights-bridge stores.

Having relocated its global head-quarters to Horseferry House in London in 2009, Burberry contin-ues to invest in its UK manufac-turing, retail and office operations, adding more than 1000 jobs in the country over the past two years.

Burberry continues to produce its heritage rainwear at its Castl-eford facility in Yorkshire, where capacity has doubled since 2011. The iconic gabardine fabric used in the coats’ construction is wo-ven at Burberry’s nearby mill and the brand’s cashmere is woven in Scotland.

“The country’s proud menswear heritage and outstanding contem-porary talent give it a unique and powerful energy. It is a wonderful time to be bringing our menswear show home”, said Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative Officer.

Since 2011 Burberry has signifi-cantly expanded its London store footprint, including opening the Burberry World Live flagship at 121 Regent Street and the brand’s first standalone menswear store in Knightsbridge in 2012. It will open a second headquarters building adjacent to Horseferry House later in 2013.

Burberry is committed to fostering the next generation of creative tal-ent in the UK. Its support includes the establishment in 2012 of the Burberry Design Scholarship with the Royal College of Art in London and Christopher Bailey’s chair-manship of the Fashion Fringe ini-tiative, which supports emerging designers and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Details of the London menswear show venue will be released in the lead up to the show this summer. Burberry, which is headquartered in London, was founded in 1856. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange (BRBY.L) and is a con-stituent of the FTSE 100 index.

“London is the creative heart of Burberry and our global head-quarters, so we are in-credibly excited to be showing our next men’s collection here.”

David Beckham’s son Romeo is following in his famous dad’s footsteps, and we’re not talking about the soccer field.Romeo, who turns 11 in January, is the star of Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign. Rocking a kids’ trench coat and a big grin, he looks like a natural in front of the camera. Fashion might be in his genes -- soccer star Da-vid Beckham has modeled for H&M and Armani, and Ro-meo’s mom Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, has a high-end clothing line.Victoria Beckham has known about her son’s passion for posing for some time. In a 2010 radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, she said Romeo “loves fashion. He likes to go out in a suit with a bowler hat... He’s a real fashion lover.”Romeo is the first of the four Beckham kids to pursue an interest in fashion, but judging by little Harper’s cameo at fashion week in September, he might soon be joined by one of his siblings.

The soccer stud recently spoke about his Burberry mod-el son Romeo with Man About Town magazine, talking about how normal the 10-year-old is despite being in com-mercials with supermodels like Cara Delevingne and on billboards all over the world! The proud dad said:

“Romeo might be on the billboards and be the Burb-erry model, but he’s also one of those little boys who loves going home and playing on PlayStation or go-ing over to the park and having a kick around.”

Even if he continues racking up the prestigious modeling gigs, we’re sure Romeo will stay grounded with guidance by his parents. They’ve worked for everything they’ve got!

BURBERRY will host its first ever large-scale public gig on Tuesday April 23, starring the Kaiser Chiefs. The news marks the start of a se-ries of ticketed music events to be held at the label’s 121 Regent Street store. The concert is complimentary and tickets will be released on Wednesday April 10 at 12pm at ukburberry.com. The brand is known for its affinity with established and emerging artists, having

launched its Burberry Acoustic initiative in 2010 - which supports and develops British music talents.

FORMER BBC executive John Smith is Burber-ry’s chief operating officer - a newly-created posi-tion. Smith has held the post as a non-executive director on the Burberry board since December 2009 - a role that he will continue in - but also

worked as chief executive of BBC Worldwide from 2005 until 2012, helping develop its global fran-chises. He will report to the fashion house’s CEO,

Angela Ahrendts.

“We are thrilled to announce John’s appointment to the new position of chief operating officer,

which is an important step in the next phase of Burberry’s development,” Ahrendts said. “His exceptional global brand and media expertise, together with his track record in finance and

operations, will be invaluable as we continue to combine proven strategies and innovative execu-

tion to drive growth in the mobile digital age.”

In other Burberry news, the label’s chief fi-nancial officer executive vice-president, Stacey Cartwright, will step down from her role after nine years. She will continue as a member of

the brand’s board. Carole Fairweather - who has worked at the company for the past six years - has

been named as her successor.

“We thank Stacey for her dedication, commit-ment, and partnership as we have worked to

transform Burberry in recent years, and for her outstanding personal contribution to improv-

ing the operational and financial infrastructure of the company. We wish her well in the future,” Ahrendts said in a statement, WWD reports. “We are delighted that one of her key partners,

Carol Fairweather, will succeed her. Carol’s deep understanding of the Burberry business and

brand, coupled with her strong leadership and financial skills, position her uniquely to drive con-tinued success in this role, while ensuring a seam-

less transition.”
