A confer ence was held and went over t he case of Robert Dale s egee, whom Investi gator

smith alleged set f ire in Por t l and, )te . and Ol d Town, Mai ne. I nvestigator smith and

your Investigat or went to Dover, N. H. t o mee t National Board representat ive, Lewis

Pendleton, and then we had aconfer ence with Pol i ce Chief McDaniels in r egard Robert

Dale segee who was born in nover, N. H., september 17, 1929 , checked t o see if there

were any f ires at these places where he lived. could find none here. Investigator

smith and N. B. R. Pendleton and myself went to portsmouth, N. H. and had a con-

ference with sargent Neil Bierce a nd police Chief vr.tlliam J. Linchey in regard to ,, Ralph Dale segee who moved t o Portsmouth in his youth. we found where t her e was a

young girl age nine years was murdered sept. 5, 1938. Her name was Barbara Driscoll •

Her bert \V. was arrest ed on sept. ll, 1938 and t ried for t hi s and acquitted.

There were a couple of l arge fires in t he vicinity in which Robert segee l ived one -,, in parti cular was t he Diamond Match co., and wasmarked cause unkno'Wll . I got t his

information from Poli ce Chief Linchey who was a neputy Sheriff and in charge of t he

suspect , sprague. He maintained t hat sPrague did not commit the crime. Left .ur. Pendleton and I nvesti gator smi t h and and returned to portland, Me . arriving

about 11 1oo p.m., JUne 2, 1950 •
