Promotional Activity #1 Trivia
Instructions: Students will come up to the board, and will then be asked a question. Questions will be related to Georgia-grown crops and basic macronutrient and food safety questions. If they get the answer right, or very close, they will be allowed to pick from the choice of seeds as a prize. If they don’t get the answer right, they will have the choice to be asked another question for a second chance at winning a prize. Length of time: The Trivia game will be set up throughout all lunches, lasting approximately 1.5 hours. However, when students come up, answering a question will only take a minute or two. Supplies needed: For this activity, only the Trivia board and seeds (to be given away as prizes) will be needed. Questions (Answers) for the board:

Promotional Activity #2 Hot Pepper Eating Competition
Instructions: Acquire three types of peppers of varying degrees of spiciness (banana, jalapeno, and serrano peppers). Wash, seed, and slice into bite size pieces. Place toothpicks into the bite size pepper pieces so they students can easily handle them without getting the pepper oils on their hands. Place the pepper pieces on trays with labels. The student who can eat the hottest pepper or the most amount of them without drinking water will win a water bottle as a prize. This activity is scheduled for Monday September 29, 2014. Length of time: The promotional activity will be conducted at each of three lunch periods consisting of 25 minutes each. Supplies needed: Plates or trays, toothpicks, table to present challenge, and a water bottle as the prize. Two pounds of banana, jalapeno, and serrano peppers.

This bulletin board will be on display in Burke County High School for the Farm to School week.
Marketing Method #1 Take-Home Flyer
Audience: This flyer is targeted to Burke County High School students, families, and school personnel. Instructions: The newsletter entitled “Farm to School” will be handed out to every student in Burke County High School on Monday, September 29th. The newsletter will be distributed during homeroom at the beginning of the day to kick off Farm to school week. Length of time for setup and implementation: Approximately 1.5 hours will be needed to print off all the flyers and divide them up per classroom. Teachers will then take a few minutes to pass them out in the classroom. Supplies needed: The supplies needed for the flyer are paper and a printer.
Marketing Method #2 PA Announcement
Audience: This PA announcement is targeted to Burke County High School students, families, and school personnel. Instructions: For the announcement, have the principle come on the intercom during the morning announcements and read the script from the paper. Length of time for setup and implementation: The PA announcement will take only a one to two minutes to announce during the morning announcements. Supplies needed: The supplies needed for the PA announcement are the document with the script and the intercom system.
Overhead PA Announcement (Monday September 29, 2014)
Good Morning Burke County High School Students. Dietetic Interns from Georgia Southern University will be presenting nutrition information about Farm to School during the week/day of September 29th. On Monday, September 29th, during your lunch periods we have a hot pepper eating contest and a harvest trivia game, so stop by and see them! Check out their informational bulletin board about the importance of farm to school. They want to thank you for the opportunity to visit with you and teach you all about the importance of farm to school. Please take home the flyers they made and tell your family and friends to check out the Facebook page that will provided them more information about farm to school.

Website Blurb Audience: This Facebook page is meant to target the students and families of Burke County High School. Instructions: This Facebook will be included in the Burke County High School Facebook page. The entry will provide information about the events taking place at Burke County High School. The information will be entered on the facebook page as a post about the events pertaining to our nutrition presentation. The information will be entered on the Facebook page to be shared with all the members who are friends of the page. Length of time for setup and implementation: The information will be entered on the Facebook page. It should not take more than 5 minutes to complete the entry of the information on the Facebook page. Supplies needed: Paper copy of information on blog to be entered to person in charge of Facebook.
