Company Overview
Vajra Builder is a large-category construction company registered as a private limited company.
Founded only in 2006, it has carried out some of the biggest construction works in the country,
including the construction of a mega seven-star international resort that is scheduled to complete in
June 2017.
The company began very small with just the founding engineer, Mr. Jamtsho, and few other
technicians. But owing to his vast experience in construction and his very down-to-earth leadership and
management style, many highly qualified and experienced engineers and other key people joined the
company.
The company, as such, grew very rapidly within a short span of time and gained immense reputation for
maintaining quality and workmanship in construction throughout the country. The company is
specialized in the construction of roads, schools, star hotels, and water supply networks. It has the
manpower of sixteen engineers, fifty six technicians in the various engineering fields, drivers and
operators, and two departments of administration and finance with adequate manpower.
The company has its head office at Changzamtok in Thimphu and branch offices in Phuntsholing and
Samdrup Jongkhar. In addition to the established offices in three major urban centers, it has six site
offices spread across the country. The management of the company is highly decentralized with
adequate decision-making powers, both in the fields of administration and finance, granted at all levels.
Vajra Builder is one of the very few established and professional construction companies with proper
organization structures, comprehensive administration and finance rules and regulations, safety
protocols and procedures, workers grievance redressal system, and sexual harassment policies and
procedures. It also has complete sets of latest machineries required for all kind of construction works in
the country.
But most important of all, the company has a fully functional Research and Development Unit at a
dedicated five-acre site in Phuntsholing that conducts extensive research and development works on all

aspects of construction in the country. The overarching aim of the R&D unit is to develop construction
technologies suitable for Bhutan’s geography, economy, and culture.
Vajra Builder, as such, is one of the few construction companies capable enough to execute any kind of
civil engineering and infrastructure development works in the country. With so much efforts and
resources being put into research and development works, it is, perhaps, the only company with the
potential to lead the construction industry into a brighter future.
