Responsibilities of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
Introduction
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Bangladesh
creates policies regarding health and family planning. It has
several objectives including the control of epidemics and
prevention of infectious and contagious diseases; health
insurance; nutrition research, educational and nutritional
deficiency diseases; control of drugs; and survey, monitoring
evaluation and compilation statistics of field activities in matters
relating to family planning.
Background of Ministry
• In 1971, with primary focus on rural areas and for woman and children welfare The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were established in Bangladesh targeting two third of the reside.
• For need of facilities and human resources the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1996 and 2005 facilitates maternal healthcare delivery by public subsector.
• Maternal healthcare services in the public sector of Bangladesh have been guided by global policies.
• Under the Family Planning wing of the MOHFW, the numbers been upgraded from 132 to 407 rural Upazila Health Complexes.

Objectives of MOHFW
The objective of the Ministry of Health and Family welfare are generally two types.•Objectives on the basis of family welfare•Objectives on the basis of health care
Family Welfare
Registration of births and deaths of children.To improve access to the full range of affordable, equitable and high quality
family planning.To improve pregnancy planning, spacing and prevent miscarriage.To increase the proportion of publicly funded family planning clinics. Mainly to achieve the family welfare goals and objectives stated in various
policy documents.
Health Care
International aspects of medical facilities and public health.
Education, Training and Research on Medical nursing, dental,
pharmaceutical, Para-medical and allied subjects.
Standardization and manufacture of biological and pharmaceutical products.
Standards for import and export of drugs.
Control and management of abandoned pharmaceutical concern.
Medical examination of seamen.
National Malaria Eradication Programmer.

According to us , MOHFW ministry needed to improve in following aspects . They are as follows :-1. Prepare a comprehensive policy documents .This will contain
the vision, broad objectives, specific objectives and strategies.
2. Specific guidelines for national level, district level and sub-district level.
3. It should generate and update the addresses of the community based people
4. Corruption should be checked and the service of health and family planning should be spread to all level of people.
