    1 About CenturyLink Business Communicator (Mobile)

    CenturyLink Business Communicator for Mobile is a native iOS and Android client for Unified

    Communication, providing the following communication features:

    • Voice Calling (VoIP–Mobile device)

    • Video Calling

    • Business Communicator Call Settings

    2 Installing Mobile App/Sign In

    Your mobile app can be downloaded from a link within your End User portal, or by accessing your device’s

    app store.

    2.1 Installation–End User Portal or App Store

    If a Business Communicator was assigned to your seat, the downloads are available under Help -->

    Downloads in your End User portal. Refer to your Welcome Email for portal link and user ID and password.

    1) Based on your mobile device, click on the link for iOS or Android.

    2) After clicking the appropriate link, follow the standard procedures to

    download your app based on your operating system.

    3) Or, visit the app store on your mobile device, to

    download the most recent version.

    4) Search for CenturyLink, and identify the CTL

    Business Communicator app to download.

    2.1 Initial Sign In

    Launch the Business Communicator as you would any other application, by tapping on the Business

    Communicator icon.

    1) Read and understand the Business Communicator End User License

    Agreement. 2) To acknowledge and continue, tap Accept. 3) To decline and exit, tap Decline.

    4) Enter your mobile device’s 10-digit number in the Your iPhone Number field.

    5) Tap the Continue button. 6) These steps are only required when launching your Business

    Communicator for the first time.

    2.2 Sign In

    1) Enter your user ID* in the User ID field (case sensitive).

    2) Enter your password* in the Password field (case sensitive).

    3) Tap the Sign In button.

    4) If you forget your password, click the Forgot Password link.

    5) To retain your password on this device, enable by tapping the Remember

    Password toggle button.

    * Your user ID and password can be found in your welcome email.

    6) A banner at the top indicates the number of pending voicemail messages, if

    any, in your mailbox. (This banner will continue to remind you of the number

    of new messages in your mailbox.)

    7) Read and understand the E911 Disclosure warning.

    8) To proceed with sign in, tap the OK button.

    9) To cancel sign in, tap the Cancel button.

    3 Mobile App Overview

    3.1 Main Screen

    There are two versions of the CenturyLink Business Communicator. The “Voice and Video” version

    allows you to communicate via Voice and Video only. The “Collaboration” version includes Voice and

    Video communication, as well as Instant Messaging and Presence. Following is an overview of the

    Business Communicator tool bars and functional icons. Specific details of these features will be

    outlined within this user guide, and tools associated specifically to the Collaboration version, will be noted.

    There are functional icons at the top and bottom of the app for the following:

    1) The Presence indicator will only be available with

    collaboration licenses.

    2) Settings are available for both voice and video, and

    collaboration licenses.

    3) Icons for the following features are available at the bottom of

    the app:

    • Contacts (personal contacts)

    • Call (dial pad)

    • Chat History (instant messaging)

    • History (call logs)

    • My Room (instant messaging)

    4 Contacts

    Contacts are individuals and phone numbers you add and manage within your app.

    4.1 Contacts

    Contacts is your list of individuals and phone numbers, manually added and maintained within your mobile

    application. At initial sign in, this feature will be blank. Entries populate and change as they’re added and

    removed.

    1) Tap the Contacts icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) Existing contacts display alphabetically by first character.

    3) Contacts can be added, removed, edited and used for outbound dialing.

    4) Entering data in the Search field allows you to search by name.

    4.2 Adding a Contact

    1) Tap the “+” (plus) icon at the top of the app.

    2) Tap the Add Contact button.

    3) Using the keyboard, enter the contact’s name in the Display Name field.

    4) Using the keyboard, enter the contact’s phone number in the Personal

    Phone field.

    5) Add information in remaining fields if applicable.

    6) Tab Done at the top of the display to save your contact.

    7) Your new contact appears within your contacts list.

    4.3 Dialing a Contact

    1) Tap the Contacts icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) Swipe or use Search to find your contact and tap on the entry.

    3) With the contact displayed, tap Call at the top center of the app.

    4) Tap the VoIP Call button*.

    5) Tap the Cancel button to cancel the call.

    * Tapping VoIP Call delivers your call using the Business Communicator app, and sends the

    10-digit number associated to your Hosted VoIP handset. Tapping iPhone delivers the 10-

    digit number of your mobile device. VoIP Call is the preferred option when using your

    Business Communicator mobile app.

    6) Tap the Voice Call or Video Call button, based on video capabilities for the

    device you’re dialing.

    7) Tap the Close button to cancel and return to your contact.

    4.4 Deleting a Contact

    1) Tap the Contacts icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) Swipe or use Search to find your contact and tap on the entry.

    3) With the contact displayed, tap Edit at the top of the app.

    4) Tap Remove within the contact profile.

    5) This contact is no longer available within your Contacts list.

    4.5 Search for a Contact

    1) Tap the Contacts icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) Within the Search field, enter letters on the keyboard to minimize your

    search.

    3) The more complex your search, the less results you’ll receive.

    4) Once your contact is located, dial, edit or delete.

    5 Call

    The Call feature is used for manually dialing outbound calls. Outbound calls can be made using voice

    only or video. The ability to use video will be based on the device being dialed, and their capability to

    accept video calls.

    5.1 Using Call

    1) Tap the Call icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) After entering an extension or 10-digit number on the keypad, tap one of the

    following dialing options:

    • Video Camera–send call via video

    • Handset–send call via voice

    • Ellipsis (3 dots)–pull or retrieve

    6 Chat

    Accessing Chat provides a history of all individual and group chats.

    6.1 Review and send Chat

    1) Tap the Chat icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) The first time you access chat history, the display will be blank.

    3) Recent chats that have not been deleted, will be displayed.

    4) Tap on a chat record to review the entire chat conversation.

    5) Swipe up and down to review the entire conversation.

    6) Tap the Type your message field.

    7) Using the keyboard, enter your message.

    8) Tap Send to submit your message.

    7 History

    Review call history data for incoming, outgoing and missed calls. Dial using call records, or add records

    to your contacts.

    7.1 Reviewing History

    1) Tap the History icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) Call records display for outgoing, incoming and missed calls with the most

    recent call at the top of the call history log.

    3) Review names, numbers, time and day/date of each call.

    4) Call record types are identified with unique icons:

    • Incoming call–downward arrow/black text

    • Missed call–downward arrow/red text

    • Outgoing call–upward arrow/black text

    7.2 Using a Call Record to Place a Call

    1) Swipe the display down and up to locate your call record, or tap All or Missed at

    the top of the app, to sort through all call records or missed call records only.

    2) Once the call record is located, tap on the record.

    3) Tap VoIP Call to send you call from the Business Communicator app, which

    sends caller ID of your VoIP seat versus your mobile number.

    4) If you tap iPhone, your call is sent using your mobile device, and the

    outbound caller ID will be that of your mobile device.

    5) Tap the Cancel button to cancel your outbound call.

    7.3 Accessing Call Record Information

    1) Tap the History icon at the bottom of the app.

    2) After locating a call record, tap the “i” icon for that record.

    3) Information displayed for incoming and missed call records is based on data

    provided by the calling party’s carrier.

    4) From this view, review call type, time and date of call, and registered phone

    number.

    5) To place a call from this call record, tap Call at the top of the app to place a voice

    call (phone number must be a valid extension or phone number).

    6) Or tap the Handset icon or Video icon to place a voice or video call.

    7) Add this record to your iPhone contacts by tapping the iPhone Contacts icon.

    8) Add this record to your Business Communicator’s contacts by tapping the Add to

    Contacts “+” icon.

    8.2 Starting a Chat

    1) Tap the Chat icon at the top of the app.

    2) On the next screen, tap the +Contact icon.

    3) Any contacts added from your directory, with collaboration licenses, will

    be displayed; only contacts with a collaboration license can be added to

    a group chat.

    4) Tap the contacts you wish to add to the group chat, then with them

    selected, tap Done.

    5) Enter your comment in the message field using the keyboard.

    6) When your message is done, tap Send.

    7) This sends a chat to each target on their mobile app, or their desktop Business

    Communicator, and they can monitor or respond from either.

    8) Review incoming messages, or reply by entering content in the Type your

    message field.

    9) Tap Send when your message is complete.

    9 Call Management

    In addition to answering incoming calls, you can also transfer and conference from your mobile app.

    9.1 Answering Incoming Calls

    1) With your mobile Business Communicator launched, tap the Accept icon to

    answering an incoming call.

    2) Caller ID information of the calling party is displayed at the top of your device.

    3) To reject a call, tap Decline. The calling party rolls to voicemail, and can choose

    to leave you a message.

    9.2 Hold/Resume/Disconnect

    1) With a call in progress, tap the Hold icon to place your existing caller on hold.

    2) The green bar under the Hold icon is your visual indicator that your caller

    is on hold.

    3) To resume your call and return to the caller, tap the Hold icon again.

    4) To disconnect from your call, tap the Red Handset icon.

    9.3 Mute/Speaker/Keypad/Add Video/

    1) With a call in progress, tap function buttons at the bottom of the device to Mute

    your call, move from handset to Speaker, or Add Video. The icon button

    activates and, also displays, a green bar at the bottom of the button, visually

    indicating which functions are activated.

    2) To deactivate features, tap the appropriate icon button again.

    3) A Keypad icon allows you to enter digits for accessing conference bridges or

    entering data or PIN numbers.

    9.4 Mute/Speaker/Keypad/Add Video/

    10 Presence Icon

    Tapping the presence icon at the top of your device, allows you to manage various options, such as call

    settings, preferences, status, and signing out of the app.

    10.1 Overview

    1) Tap the Presence icon at the top of the app.

    2) Access the following options within this view:

    • Presence–change/update status, including what’s on your mind

    • Call Settings–change/manage block caller ID, forwarding, do

    not disturb

    • Preferences–change/manage language, remember password,

    caller ID lookup

    • Sign Out–application sign out

    3) To fully log out of your app, tap Sign Out at the bottom of presence

    view, this will require you to log in when the app is re-launched.

    10.2 Presence

    1) Tap the green area at the top of the app, this area also indicates your name and

    your current status.

    2) Tap What’s on your mind?, then using the keyboard, enter your status such as

    “In a Meeting”, this information is available to anyone monitoring you on their

    mobile or desktop applications.

    3) Tap to change your status, active status is indicated with a checkmark:

    • Available

    • Away

    • Busy

    • Offline

    4) Tap Done at the top of the app.

    10.3 Call Settings

    1) Tap Call Settings to access a variety of options.

    2) Settings are changed and enabled by tapping toggle buttons and entering data

    on a keyboard or keypad. Additional fields or toggle buttons may appear, as

    you tap through call settings options.

    3) Tap Save at the top of the app to save settings changes.

    4) Call Options:

    • Caller ID Blocking

    • Dialing Service

    5) iPhone Number—10-digit number for your mobile device

    6) Call Forwarding:

    • Not Reachable

    • Busy

    • Always

    • No Answer

    7) Incoming Calls:

    • Call Waiting

    • Simultaneous Ring Personal

    8) CenturyLink (some of these settings may not be available based on your seat type):

    • CenturyLink Anywhere

    • CenturyLink Mobility

    • Remote Office

    9) After call settings are made and saved, tap Done to return to your mobile app.

    10.4 Preferences

    1) Tap Preferences to access a variety of options.

    2) Settings are changed and enabled by tapping toggle buttons and entering data

    on a keyboard or keypad. Additional fields or toggle buttons may appear, as

    you tap through call settings options.

    3) Tap Save at the top of the app to save preference settings.

    4) Tap to select from the following preference options:

    • Language

    • Remember Password

    • Troubleshooting

    • Caller ID Lookup

    5) After preference settings are made, tap Done to return to your mobile app.
