Social Responsibility - is a duty every individual or organization has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystem.

Business - is an organization involved in the trade of goods, services, or both to consumers.

Ethics - involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct.

Law - is a system of rules and guidelines which are enforced through social institutions to govern behavior.

Organization - is a social entity that has a collective goal and is linked to an external environment.

VOCABULARY

BUSINESS ETHICS - is a form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL ETHICS - is the ethics of an organization, and it is how an organization ethically responds to an internal or external stimulus.

I. Thou shalt not bear false witness in the books and of thy employer.

II. Thou shalt not play games with numbers.

III. Thou shalt speak the truth to thy boss, even though he may not want to hear it.

IV. Thou shalt rattle on thy neighbor when he is doing something wrong.

V. Thou shalt keep thine eyes wide open.

VI. Sin not, nor help thy brother to sin, for thou art thy brother’s

keeper.

VII. Thou shalt not have two masters – thy boss and thyself

confidences.

THE CONCEPTS

• The owners, management, workforce, suppliers & subcontractors, customers, and government contribute to the performance of the business and entitled to receive proper worth of their contributions.

• The resources employed by a business are financial, technological and human.

• Business has a public responsibility to use all its resources efficiently.

• Competition and inventiveness are essential for the maintenance and continuing improvement of the quality of goods and services, for growth and technological progress.

• In business, as in any other institutions of society, any right or authority enjoyed by or entrusted to business presupposes and is injustified by, corresponding duties, responsibilities and performance.
