The majority of businesses say that their business growth comes as a result of word of mouth, they rely on referral marketing to get new clients, but few of those businesses have a strategy. Many businesses also have a Facebook presence of some description but once again they simply sit back and wait for it to happen. Facebook requires the same three basic networking principles used elsewhere in life. You meet people - preferably encouraging them to 'Like' your page rather than become a friend (as this is against the Facebook terms of service) You follow up with those people - that is you respond to the things they say to you on Facebook and don't just leave them hanging You build a relationship - in other words you 'like' pages in return and start commenting on, liking and sharing their content too. When you do these things, not only do the people who follow you on Facebook see your activity, the people that follow the pages you like also see your activity. You get a double bite of the cherry so to speak.
