Vision and Values
Our Vision
To influence people and communities for their well-being, through promoting the gospel of
Jesus Christ and communicating God’s life-giving words of hope.
Our Mission
• Creating contemporary, relevant programming and presentations that engage and
inspire listeners in their daily living
• Impacting lives with a consistent message of hope and positivity
• Promoting good physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health through programmes
that are positive, uplifting, entertaining and informative
• Communicating in various forms a Gospel-based, Biblical worldview that leads people
to a revelation of God’s love and grace
• Encouraging and assisting the local Christian Church to connect in positive and
helpful ways with their communities
Values
Riverland Life FM serves alongside and on behalf of the local Christian community, to serve
both those who are already part of the Church and those who are yet to be introduced to
Him. Riverland Life FM is not ‘church on the radio’; our intent is to point people to Christ
and give the responsibility for their pastoral care to the local church of their choosing.
Corporately, and individually as members of the team at Riverland Life FM:
• We endorse the core beliefs and values of the Church through adherence to our
Statement of Faith (the Nicene Creed)
• We seek to keep in regular contact with the local Christian community
• We seek to work in partnership with local churches as part of the Church
• We seek to encourage the Church in their daily lives and in their outreach to their
community
Riverland Christian Radio Inc t/a Riverland Life FM Business Plan 2018-2022

In keeping with the values of the faith, our personnel will:
• Aim to love, esteem and serve others in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
• Seek to encourage one another, speak honestly and with love, and act for the benefit
of others
• Seek to act positively, generously and optimistically and as a team
Riverland Life FM is a ‘community interest’ broadcaster. However, as the Riverland’s only
community broadcaster we take seriously our responsibility to serve the wider community by
providing a good quality, positive, family-friendly and accessible radio service. As such we
welcome people from the wider community to participate in the programming and
production of the broadcast, provided that such participation does not contradict or negate
our values or programming priorities.
In speaking to our listeners and engaging with the public we will seek to:
• Value and respect all people as individuals made in God’s image and loved by Him
• Take care to listen and attend to what people say, without judgment
• Encourage people and uplift them
• Be genuine and honest, speaking the truth with a loving concern for others
• Humbly serving others
… and when working with the Riverland community for a shared purpose we seek to:
• Be professional and courteous in manner and speech, seeking to honourably
represent the station
• Be open to new ideas and considerate of programming requests
• Meet programming requests as much as we are able, be flexible wherever possible,
provided that the programming will result in a positive listening experience
• Make decisions and act in harmony with our values and purpose by adhering to
station policies and protocols
• Seek to be and to provide examples of Christ-like character through a positive and
professional work ethic that is characterised by patience and kindness to all those
who engage with the station
• Be mindful that our purpose is to serve, and that the radio service is produced by the
community for the community
In our interaction with sponsors and other supporters of the station we seek to:
• Be professional and courteous in manner and speech, seeking to honourably
represent the station

• Be well prepared for meetings and interviews
• Be concerned for the sponsor’s welfare and make offers that are in their best interest

Programming
Responding to Community Needs
• Programming that respects and demonstrates basic Christian beliefs and values
• Serving a wide range of ages and interests in our community of interest, including
programming suitable for families with young children and giving young people in
particular access to the medium of radio for self-development, self-expression and
educational purposes.

and music
• Providing access for Christian churches and groups to promote their activities in the
community, and an avenue to offer their voluntary services to the wider community.
• Promoting unity and partnerships between and with Christian groups to facilitate
communication and assist the local Church in its mission.
Programming Criteria & Objectives
Programmes will be produced from a general Christian perspective, while also using
language and contexts that are easily understood by listeners who might be searching for
understanding.
The station shall at all times broadcast informative and entertaining, quality of life, programs
which will:
• Project an image that is down-to-earth, relevant, honest and supportive
• Inspire non-believers to adopt a life of faith, hope and love in the living God while
edifying and encouraging believers
• Help people to live fuller, happier lives
• Strengthen and endorse marriage and the traditional family unit
• Publicise the work of charitable groups and identify the social needs of the region in
order to encourage a supportive pro-active community

associations and agencies that are not Christian-based but have a Christian ethos
• Always be of good taste
Broadly, content on Riverland Life FM:
• Must not be inconsistent with Christian core beliefs
• Must be generic enough to be appreciated by the majority of the target audience and
fit the larger audience’s appeal
• Must be entertaining and interesting, relevant and topical
• Be designed to appeal to the majority of the target audience demographic and profile
which is broadly 25-48 years old, with a focus on 30-36 year olds. Therefore, our

support these values through music that is deemed suitable for people of all ages,
particularly young children, and that does not overtly oppose the basic values of the
Christian faith.

• Will be of excellent quality, and appeal to the majority of the target audience
demographic and profile, which is broadly an age range of 25-46 years.
• Will have lyrics that are not contrary to the Biblically based values of the station and
our community interest, are generally encouraging and supportive and if not overtly
positive, then insightful and helpful to the listener in reflecting real life human
experience – provided they open up opportunities to present a Biblical worldview.
• Will not have official video clip/s of the performance of the song that are sexually

children
