Role: ARCI ConceptRole Description

A Accountable The individual who is ultimately responsible. Includes Yes/No authority and veto power. Only one individual can be assigned to an activity.

R Responsible The individual(s) who actually completes the task. Responsibility for action implementation can be shared.

C Consult The individual(s) to be consulted prior to a final decision or action. Two way communication.

I Inform The individual(s) who needs to be informed after a decision or action is taken. One way communication.

Steps• Get the “helicopter view”: understand the process, input

and output• Determine how detail the map will be• Identify all activity and how they are connected to each

other• Determine ARCI of each activity• Determine service level and other information needed.
