Ketelo has a range of service offerings centered within the governance, risk management and compliance solutions. These services are structured and guided by best practice both locally and internationally. Key in that are approaches informed by the King III Report on Corporate Governance, ISO 31000 on Risk Management, the International Finance Corporation Standards and Guidelines, the Equator Principles, the United Nations Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines and others.

2.1. RISK ASSESSMENTS Ketelo understands that risk assessments form part of the important aspects of Corporate Governance, Compliance and Risk Management hence only expert facilitation of this process is employed. The following are different assessment products Ketelo offers:

Projects Risk Assessments Even projects with good planning and sufficient flow of resources do not automatically guarantee an achievement of desired outcomes or completion. Through a thorough risk assessment exercise, we are able to assist organisations in developing a solid risk-management plan prior to project commencement. Through this plan, organisations will be able to know the key risks and mitigation methods/ measures for the success of their project/s.

Enterprise Wide Risk Assessments (ERM) Ketelo assists organisations to address all potential risks and their root causes by identifying all the business functions, processes, and activities that created them and then develop strategies to minimize the potential exposure.

Operational Risk Assessments Our team conducts assessments to ascertain losses resulting from inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems or from external events. They may also include legal risks, which are those losses resulting from failure to comply with laws as well as prudent ethical standards and contractual obligations.

BCM Risk Assessments/ Business Impact Analysis Through a detailed assessment process, we assist organisations in identifying their critical tasks required to pursue their strategy and determine the minimum resources (personnel, systems, and facilities) required to resume those identified tasks.

Environmental Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) based on Equator principles/ IFC Standards

We assist organisations in assessing the social and environmental impacts and risks of their large scale industrial development and infrastructure projects such as a mine, power station, airport etc. In doing so, we apply the Equator Principles (EPs) which are a set of standards used as financial industry benchmark to determine, assess and manage social and environmental risks in project financing. These standards are based on the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, and on the World Bank’s EHS guidelines.

2.2. IMPLEMENTATION OF RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

Ketelo only applies best practice when deriving treatment strategies. Expert advice and well researched risk control measures and strategies are sought to assist organisations in treating, transferring, tolerating and/or terminate the risk. We assist in the implementation of the following programmes:

Project Risk Management Plans/ Programme

Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Programme

Operational Risk Programme

SHEQ Programmes based on ISO Standards and Systems

Business Continuity Management.

Rail Safety Programme

Occupational Health & Safety Programme

Safety Plans for Contractors doing civil, electrical, mechanical work etc.

Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Programme

2.3. MONITORING & EVALUATION/ REVIEWING OF PROGRAMMES Even programmes and projects with good planning & sufficient flow of resources do not guarantee an automatic achievement of desired outcomes. Constant assessment not only saves wastage of resources, but enables organizations to make judgment about the progress, impact, effectiveness and direction of the programme/project. Continual assessment of what has been implemented further enables the measurement of change.

It is therefore highly recommended that organisations establish a practices and processes to monitor (continual assessment of what has been implemented and/or rolled out) and evaluate (a periodic assessment of the effectiveness and impact) their programmes/ projects to ensure that they are still in line with the objectives of the projects/organisation and its strategy. Monitoring and Evaluation influence accountability which in turn stimulate and foster good governance practices in organisations and/or over projects they run and fund. Ketelo assists organisations with the following monitoring and evaluation/ reviewing services:

Monitoring and Evaluation of Programmes/ Projects. Internal audits.

- Legal Compliance Audits & Inspections - Risk Control Audits & Inspections - (ISO 14001; ISO 9001; OSHAS 18001)
