Executive Summary

In this Business module, students are required to learn about business management or product

marketing through the project given in charity drive. Students are required to do analysis

about the products which they plan to sell in the charity with a better understanding of the

customers which they want to target.

Thus, after a few discussions, we have planned to sell different types of products such as T-

shirts, couple shirts, rings and dolls. Moreover, we also do donation box to encourage more

people to donate as well as collecting as the fundraising for the charity donation. The total

amount of the money that we collect from the charity will be donated to the Tzu Chi.

At last, we get the opportunity to learn the business management and product marketing

through the project and this helps us to explore more about the business industry through the

selling process in the charity drive.

Objectives

The aim of this project is to encourage students to think creatively and strategically in the

course of starting and running a business. Besides, students can understand the roles of

human resources management, marketing, operations and finance in business. Thus, students

can understand the social and ethical responsibilities of a business through the process of

managing the business.

The organization that we have chosen to donate all the funds collected from the charity drive

is the Tzu Chi. We choose to support this organization because it receives charity donation to

help those family with financial problems, orphanages and old folks homes that need food

supplies, medical or financial supports. Our target amount for the donation through the sales

units, sponsors and also donation collection is about RM1500.

Target Market

Page 5: Business report

Our targeted customers for this project are students, couples and working adults. As the valentine day is at the last day of our charity drive, we plan to sell the couple rings, shirts and dolls in order to promote our products with a better pricing and also sell it easier to a wide range of people as the valentine’s gift.

In the charity drive, the products that we sell are more to collect extra funds for the donation and thus, the pricing of the products are fixed to the suitability of the spending of people to possess the products which we sell.

Product and Packaging

As the valentine day is around our charity drive, we plan to sell the products for customers as their valentine gift. Thus, the products that we have chosen are couple T-shirts, rings and dolls.

Couple T-shirts

Most people who are in relationship like to wear couple T-shirt and in the coming of valentine day, this can be suitable for those people who are in the relationship.

Couple Rings

People who are in relationship loves to stay together and the ring as valentine gift represent the ever lasting relationship.

Dolls

This product can be sold as representing not only the valentine’s gift and also the gift for the children.

The features and benefits of the products are representing as the valentine gift with unique packaging and the pricing of the products are compatible to the market.

The Products are packaged with the chosen unique gift paper and this attracts the customers to look for our products more because it looks unique in the market and the price of the products are much more compatible to the spending of the customers to buy them for the charity donation.

Couple T-shirts - RM 50 per pair / RM 20 per piece

Couple Rings - RM 50 per pair / RM 36 per ring

Dolls - RM 20 – RM 30

Products’ unit cost price

Couple T-shirts – RM 15

We have the limited unique T-shirt design and the dolls are most welcomed by the people. Thus, the pricing of the product can be increased due to the demand of customers by double or triple of the cost price depending the quality the of dolls with unique paper chosen for packaging.

The strategies that we use to sell our products faster are giving a compatible price through selling the products in pairs and we ensure the quality of the products is suitable to the price given to customers.

Promotion

The main marketing message that we bring to the public is “Help the unfortunates”.

The 2 main tools for us promoting the products are through the telephone calls and face to face conversations. As we find the face to face conversations help to sell the products better and it gives instant feedback towards the quality and the pricing of the products sold. In addition, the tools are chosen to help in supporting the “Go Green” activity.

Sponsors

We have approached to several sponsorships from our family members, relatives and factory. Thus, we got a sponsorship from one of our member’s family. The family is running individual business and we have the products supplied by the family individual business. It is the cause of the last minute changes in our group members and we have the family individual business to support us with the products needed. We approach with our product supplier through the face to face meetings.

Page 11: Business report

Distribution

The products are collected to be stored at one of our member’s house and they are delivered to lakeside campus by car in the morning when everyone starts to setting up the booth location. Through the products selling during the charity, we bring all the products stocks along in order to ensure that we give the best service to the customers instantly when they do payment, we give out the products at time.

We design the donation box in order to bring the awareness of the charity activity and also to get more people to donate. Moreover, we reach more customers effectively through the promotion and the unique packaging of our products in order to show the quality of our products with the compatible pricing given is most suitable for the customers spending.

We do products selling only in near location because we need to avoid the time taking for the products shipping and other extra service charges needed in order to make sure our products can be safely reach out to the customers.

Green Measures

Our chosen products are made in an environmentally conscious manner in order to eliminate the hazardous effects to the environment. The product packaging is not environmentally friendly but it can be reused as recycle. We manage the product’s wastes by sending them to the recycle bin and face to face conversation selling method is used to reduce the consumption of resources like electricity, paper, water and more when running the event.

Evaluation of Results

In the end of the project, we manage to accomplish the task by reaching the target which we have planned at first before the day starting of the charity event.

What we have done wrong is we do not have much time on the analysis of knowing which products are the most suitable and most welcomed by the people because the couple T-shirt which we were selling in the charity event at the lakeside campus do not really meet the suitability as they cannot try the T-shirt at the public according to their size. Thus, it did not show the most suitability for the people at lakeside campus although it is still managed to sell out to some of the people.

On the other hand, the doll is the product that we have done the right choice to sell in the charity event because of the valentine day is around the week of the charity drive and thus, this product shows the best welcomed for most people. In addition, the unique paper packaging which we have chosen also helps to enhance the selling of product as well as the compatible pricing offer to the customer.
