KINGDOM OF BUTHAN

The Kingdom of Bhutan is a country ofSouth  Asia. It located in the eastern section of

the Himalayas, between India and China.The total are is 38.394 km2.

The official language is dzongkha.

Bhutan is mountainous and small.

FLAG The flag of de Bhutan is divided diagonally from

the bottom side of the side of the flagpoleforming two triangles. The top is

orange, red being the lower.The dragon represented on the flag,

Druk or Thunder Dragon, Bhutan is the Tibetanname, which is "Land of the Dragon" .

The dragon holds jewels in its claws,representing abundance. The orange representsthe secular monarchy, while the red representsthe Buddhist religion.

THIMPHU The capital city is Thimphu.  He lies along the

river Chu.

Is the most important city. Thimphu is the only capital in the world that has

no traffic lights installed.

The capital city hasn’t got an airport.

GEOGRAPHY All rivers are part of the Brahmaputra Riverbasin. None of them are navigable. Wedistinguish four rivers: Drangme Chhu is themost important, the Puna Tsang Chhu, alsocalled Sankosh, the Wang Chhu, and Amo

Chhu.

Bhutan hasn’t got seas.

GEOGRAPHYThe Himalayas dominate the north, where manypeaks exceeding 7.000 meters. The highestpeak is 7.540 meters Gangkhar Puensum of7.540 meters. Other mountains are the BlackMountains in the center of the country from 1.500to 2.700 meters. In the south we have the Silawik

hill that reaches 1500 meters

WEATHERThe climate varies from subtropical in the plain

of Duars, to temperate, with cold winters and warmsummers in the valleys of the central mountains. In theHimalaya the winters are severe and summersare cool. It becomes more harsh as one moves to higherelevations. Like most Asian countries is affected by themonsoon.

The temperature varies with altitude. In Thimphu, at2,200 m, varies between 15 °C to 26 ° C duringthe summer monsoon but low in January to -4 º C to 16° C.

IMPORTANT CITIES Punakha is a dzong Punakha District, Bhutanese. It

was the country's capital until 1955, whenthe capital was moved to Thimphu.

Paro is a beautiful city located inwestern Bhutan. This city is the only airport inthecountry. In Paro are also templesand monasteries throughout Bhutan's oldest.

Phuntsholing is small city is considered the gateof Bhutan and is located southwest of Bhutannear theborder with India.

FOOD

Bhutanese essential ingredient is the chile

Some typical dishes of the country are:Phagshaphu: Strips of pork fat dry cooked in a stew

with turnips and radishes andmany dried chiles.Gondomaru: Scrambled eggs cooked in butter.

Noshahuentsu: pork stew with spinach.Phagshaphintshom: Frame with rice noodles.

Bjashamaru: Stew chicken in garlic and butter sauce.Momos: Tibetan dish that is cooked in the Himalayasand consists of small boileddumplings filled with

meat or cheese.

is Jigme Khesar Namggyel Wangchuk and the

prime ministre is Jigme Y. Thinley.
