National Assisted Living Week is September 9th through the 15th. The theme for this year’s National Assisted Living Week is “A Spark of Creativity”.
National Assisted Living Week is a time to celebrate, but it’s also a time to reflect and think about ways as-sisted living can continue to grow. “A Spark of Creativity” encourages everyone to get their creative juices flowing, whether its residents try-ing out new things, or caregivers exploring innovative ways to improve care and community life.
I would like to thank our dedicated staff for giving their heart and soul to our residents. Staff members often form bonds with residents that can never be broken. For many residents who have either lost family mem-bers or whose family members live far away, the assist-ed living staff becomes even more vital and the only family residents truly know.
Happy National Assisted Living Week! God Bless
Lauri

A Tip From Teepa,
Take Care of Yourself When it's not working—when something you tried to do didn't work, when you're getting frustrated or angry—you absolutely need to learn to take a time out. It's critical to step out of the situation. Take at least three deep breaths—breathe in and out, deeply!
When you are frustrated, angry, or in despair, the person you are caring for picks up on—and re-acts to—your stress level and intensity. They may not understand what or why you are feeling as you do, but they will be impacted by your tone of voice, body language and emotional state. When you're angry, you're no good to them or to yourself.
Breathing deeply will help you get back to neutral, lower your emotional level, and help you regain perspective about the situation you are trying to problem solve. Also, don't hesitate to ask for
help. Putting support systems in place for surprising times when living with dementia is critical. Dementia is hard work!
