Sewing Half Square Triangles
1. Place one 2" x 4" of each color right sides together with 2" x 4" Background.
2. On each pair, draw center line and diagonal line.
3. Sew ¼" from both sides of diagonal lines.
4. Cut on straight and diagonal lines.
5. Square each patch to 1½" with 4½" Triangle Square Up Ruler.

7. Clip connecting stitch. Remove three stitches on both sides of seam allowance. “Swirl” seams clockwise on wrong side.
Making Two Nine Patches
1. Lay out Nine Patch squares.
2. Flip second vertical row right sides together to first vertical row.
3. Assembly-line sew. Do not cut connecting threads. Open.
4. Add remaining vertical row. Cut between blue and yellow blocks.
5. Open. Press seams toward medium.
6. Turn patch. Flip patch-es right sides together. Assembly line sew.
7. Press just sewn seams away from center.
Sewing Button Blocks
1. Lay out Red and Purple Four Patch blocks.
2. Assembly-line sew patch, pressing seams toward lon-ger strips. Do not clip connecting threads.
3. Add Background strips. Press seams toward Background.
4. Lay out yellow and blue Nine Patch blocks.
5. Assembly-line sew patch, pressing seams toward longer strips. Do not clip connecting threads.
6. Lay out Buttons.
7. Sew Buttons together.
8. Open center ackground seam and swirl.
9. Add Borders.
10. Press seams toward Borders.
