We like to call ourselves a family, and not a company. We love Orchids and want to spread the romance of growing these wonderful plants. That’s why we not only sell you rare and exotic varieties but also provide you everything you need – pots, media and even expert advice to nurture them.

Mamta Bargale, Founder Orchidist

Orchids are her passion, and profession. But before falling in love with Orchids, Mamta has had serious flings in Fashion  and Interior Design. In 2007, she went on a holiday to Thailand and was awestruck with the abundance and beauty of Orchids. She couldn’t resist the temptation and came back with 5 plants. Gradually, she began to learn more about Orchids and started growing her collection.

Within 6 years, her bounty increased to 150 plants. Then one day, she came across Nisha Orchids on Facebook and connected with Rejin. Mamta enquired about a few Orchid varieties and Rejin offered her a business opportunity, instead. She fell for it and Orchid Tree opened its first farm on 17th Feb 2013 in Bangalore.

Rejin is a good guy. He has never upset anyone, except his professors who are still fuming. They cannot fathom how this bright chap who studied B Tech and MBA would grow Orchids - even after having successful corporate stints in Qatar and Ireland.

The credit goes to a very famous software company for giving Rejin a job so interesting that he fled to his father’s farm in Kerala and fell in love with Orchids. While helping his father grow the collection, Rejin realized that there was nobody who could provide a wide variety of Orchids in India.

He spotted a business opportunity and started Nisha Orchids, a company that supplied imported Orchids to retailers in Kerala. Then one day, he met Mamta on Facebook. She shared the same dream for Orchids and the two founded Orchid Tree in Bangalore.
