ATDC has emerged as the largest Vocational Training Provider with a leading position in the vocational education space being a nodal agency under component-1 for implementing Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) of Ministry of Textiles, GOI in 2010 where ATDC took the ambitious target of training 2,50,000 candidates in six years under SMART project and has successfully trained 2,00,000 candidates through 200 ATDC Centres Pan-India till March 2017. This makes ATDC the only organization offering shop floor, supervisory and managerial level courses within the education and training eco- system i.e. SMART training for taking care of courses of 1 month to 4 month duration (Skill Level 01-02) and ATDC Vocational Institutes(Skill Level 03-05) for offering MES courses of six months to one year and nowoffering 3 year BVoc courses(Skill Level 05-07) based on the“National Skill Qualification Framework'. Creation of such a comprehensive training eco-system has accorded a leadership position to ATDC by transforming to become India's largest Vocational Training Provider for the apparel sector.

ATDC Vocational Institutes are a vital part of the Vocational Training system for careers in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles having a Pan-India presence in and near Apparel-Textile Hubs, offering Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma courses. ATDC recognizing “Aspirational India” provided vertical / lateral growth to the youth of India and in this effort the New Generation BVoc Courses based on the “National Skill Qualification Framework' are being offered from 2015-16 session to address the critical knowledge and skill-sets required to make the candidate “Industry-Ready” right from the start and also shape “young entrepreneurs” in the Apparel-Retail-Fashion Sector. About 560 students are currently enrolled and undergoing training in BVoc Courses across 20 ATDC-SKPs in the country.

ATDC was set-up in 1996 by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in response to the felt need for technically trained shop floor workforce for apparel sector so that productivity and efficiency could increase besides ensuring ready availability of quality workforce for various levels in the garment manufacturing industry. Over 2 decades, ATDC has built a unique position as a quality education & training provider for apparel sector especially for shop-floor and supervisory workforce including other positions in different tiers of manufacturing unit. ATDC contributed to the Skillscape in form of developing Contemporary Curricula for over 29 trade courses (Garment & Fashion sectors) along with Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) & National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and with All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for the Apparel & Textile sector as part of the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF) both under the Chairmanship of Dr Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO - ATDC & IAM.

BVoc in Apparel Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship aims to create professionals with technical skills and knowledge required for manufacturing and merchandising apparel and related products. It aims to equip students with intensive theoretical and applied training about the latest apparel industry concepts in the core areas of production, merchandising, quality and technology for meaningful and holistic learning.The course will inculcate in students the ability to appreciate and understand the process of apparel manufacturing, its commercial feasibility and sensitivity towards buyer's requirements to execute the product design and production process effectively.
