History of ComputersBy Chelsea Kane
Period 8/9Oh snap!
Human IngenuityHuman ingenuity allows students to focus on
the processes and products of human creativity.
It emphasizes the importance of researching the developments of different people through out the world.
These creations or developments help us to consider the impact they have on society and our mind.
First GenerationIn 1671, Gottfried Leibnitz invented a small
computer that could only add and multiply.Soon after Charles Xavier Thomas built a
calculator that could add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Gottfried had a universal language of fundamental concepts of the computer.
The two men later got together to make a machine that could do difficult math problems.
The ENIAC Computer
The ENIAC computer was built by a man named Howard Aiken.
The machine used relays and electromagnetic components to replace mechanical component.
In later machines, Aiken used vacuum tubes to manipulate the binary numbers.
Howard Aiken: did not trust the idea of storing a program within the computer so he used punch cards for data.
Changing over timeIn the early 1600 to 1800s, people had
theories, or ideas of making a device that could do complex math problems so we wouldn’t have to do them manually.
As the years passed calculators turned into computers.
After the ENIAC, which could do thousands of calculations, computers changed into machines that could do many things.
The Change over timeEarly Computer Computer
Development
Changing the WorldComputers have gone from room size
machines to small well designed palm tops, developed to make work more efficient.
Computers make research on any topic much easier to find than looking in a book
……………..Computers are used to find jobs and connect
with people all over the world through the internet.
They are a good source to use to keep information organized.
They are also used for constructing and designing other machines.
