A Story of AppreciationOne young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score. The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "none".The director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees."

Page 3: By doing well the duty which is nearest to us, the duty which is in … · Without my mother, there would not be a successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my

The director asked, "Where did your mother work?"The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner." The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect. The director asked, "Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me." The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning." The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water. This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning, the youth went to the director's office. The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: "Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?" The youth answered, "I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'The Director asked, "please tell me your feelings." The youth said, Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be a successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, I now realized how difficult and tough it is to get something done.Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship. The director said, "This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to getthings done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.” Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every

employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously. A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done. "Society does not go down because of the activities of criminals, but because of the inactivity of the good people." - Swami Vivekananda

Post Operation, the patient recovered well and was walking within four hours of surgery which is unheard of with current surgical modalities offered to patients of knee arthritis. Pain relief and Improved Movement of the knee joint was reported within hours of the procedure and the Patient was discharged the next day of the Procedure.

Osteoarthritis, which is the cause of the pain, erodes the cartilage that acts as a cushion between bones in knee joints, causing inflammation and pain in joints. OrthoGlide is designed to replace much of the function of the cartilage that has been lost due to the disease. Osteoarthritis has alarmingly become the 2nd largest disease after Diabetes affecting the Indian

Population as per recent studies.

After conservative oral treatments fail, this surgery offers a cost effective treatment for early and moderate arthritis of the knee joint which is virtually half of the cost of Total Knee Replacements which is considered to be the last option for the disease in advance stages with badly degenerated joints. The Major advantages of this surgery over standard Total Knee Replacement includes its early rehabilitation which helps patients to return very fast to normal daily function and life style. It allows patient to squat and seat cross - legged, an important part of our daily lives in our Indian Culture. This surgery, which promises a cheap and easy path of regaining back the life style functions, definitely offers a new ray of hope to active and young patients who are worried about major surgery and prolonged post - op rehabilitation to deal with Knee Arthritis.

HEALTH CAPSULE :Summer is here and it's that time of the year when people on the streets have to be extra cautious - as the sun's heat may cause severe damage to their health.Scorching summer heat can sometimes be very intolerable. Not only does it lead to a series of minor and major health problems, the high temperature during the season can be a reason for increased energy bills as well! There are many ways to stay cool in the summer season, prevent yourself from a heat stroke and save a lot of money on the utility bills.

The tips given below will help you keep heat at bay, naturally.

Prepare Your Home∙ Reduce The Heat : Light fixtures and appliances at home can produce a lot of heat. Therefore, turn off the lights in the daytime and switch them on only when it is dark. Avoid frequent use of heat-generating home appliances, such as microwave, oven. Replace incandescent bulbs with fluorescent light fixtures. This way, you will save a lot of money on energy bills and keep the atmosphere at home cool and pleasant.

∙ Circulate The Cool Air : Ventilation is highly required during the summer season. If you have air conditioning system, allow the cool air to circulate freely throughout the room. Open the windows on the non-sunny side of your room. Install window fan on the opposite side of the room. The fan will expel the hot air and pull the cool breeze, from the open windows, into the room.

Prepare Yourself∙ Take A Shower : A cool shower will help a great deal in combating the scorching summer heat. Take a cool shower at least twice a day. Fill a spray bottle with rose water and use it while bathing. Cool essential oils also help soothe your body.

∙ Wear Light Clothes : Wear light, loose fitting and airy clothes, especially when you go out on a hot sunny day. Cotton is the best natural fabric for summer. Avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic stuff, like nylon and polyester. Silk is a strict no-no fabric for summers.

Page 9: By doing well the duty which is nearest to us, the duty which is in … · Without my mother, there would not be a successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my

∙ Protect Yourself From Sun : Do not forget to wear sun block while going out. It can be a sunscreen moisturizer, lotion or cream. The product should contain SPF, which protects the body from harmful UV rays.

∙ Eat Less : Instead of three heavy meals in a day, inculcate the habit of eating 5-6 small meals, during summer. Eat food high in water content, like fresh fruits and vegetables. Water melon is the best fruit for summers.

∙ Drink Plenty of Fluids : Drink plenty of water and fluids like fruit juices. Avoid aerated drinks like soda and cola. Do not consume sugary drinks, as their high sugar content can lead to dehydration. Instead, consume juices made of fresh fruits and vegetables. Sports beverages are also good to keep the energy level high.

∙ Exercise : Doing light intensity exercises can help you a great deal in staying cool. Indulge in exercise either early in the morning or late in the evening. You will sweat during the workout, which is a natural way of cooling down the body.

We suggest this summer reach out for coconut water instead of the cool beverages which are readily available at all the supermarkets & general stores.Coconut water is the purest liquid second to water, it’s a fluid of life, listed below are the Health Benefits :

1. Coconut Water Hydrates the BodyCoconut water is an isotonic solution which replaces the fluids and minerals that the body loses during physical activities. For this reason, many athletes and persons who work out regularly are encouraged to drink coconut water to replace all the minerals and fluid that they lose while working out. Even the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization

5. Coconut Water is used in Blood TransfusionCoconut water is almost identical to blood plasma and this makes it easy to use for blood transfusion. In cases of emergency coconut water has been used as an intravenous hydration fluid instead of the standard IV fluid. During World War II many wounded soldiers were saved in the Pacific because of emergency transfusion using coconut water as plasma.

used by the body to make monolaurin - a disease fighting fatty acid derivative. Lauric acid has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti - viral properties which protect the body against various infections and boosts the immune system.

∙ Interesting data based on a 100ml drink : Contains more potassium (at about 294 mg) than most sports drinks (117 mg) and most energy drinks.
