I want to be a Computer Operator

“Harper, Your mother and I have something to tell you” said Dad.

“Hey dad. What’s the big news?” said Harper.

“Your father has gotten a new job!” said Mom.

“What’s your job, Dad?” said Harper.

“I am a computer operator," said Dad.

“Hey, I have an idea. Why don’t I take you to my job tomorrow morning. Then, you could see how my job works.

Do you want to go?” said Dad.

“That sounds great. What time do you want me to get up?” said Harper.

8:00a.m. is good. That’s the time I usually get up.

I am super tired. Good night everyone,” said Harper.

“Good Night Harper,” said Mom and Dad.

“Good morning Dad. Is any one else up,” said Harper. “Good morning. No, no one is up. Let’s eat

and get ready,” said Dad.

“Dad, I’m ready,” said Harper. “I am, too,” said Dad.

“Were here,” said Dad. “Wow, this building is huge,” said Harper. “It sure is. Come on, let’s go inside.

“My job is to make sure everything goes smoothly. Everyday, I check on big computers called mainframes,” said Dad.

“What do mainframes do?” said Harper.Mainframes help run big businesses. I have to go. Jenna will explain

the rest," said Dad.

“Hi, my name is Jenna. What’s yours?” asked Jenna. “My name is Harper.” said Harper. “Nice to meet you, Harper,” said Jenna. “Nice to meet you, too. Why did you become a

computer operator and what do you need to be eligible.” “ I became a computer operator because I loved math in

school you have to know math to do this type of job. You definitely need a high school diploma. You also need

computer skills,” said Jenna.

“Are you in high school?” said Jenna. “Yes, I am. I’m thinking about going to UCLA,” said Harper. “At UCLA, they have computer science. If you want to

become a computer operator, that would be a good college to go to,” said Jenna.

“All this talk about computer operating makes me want to make that my career,” said Harper. “Alright Harper, I’m all done,” said Dad. “ Okay. Nice talking to you Ms. Jenna,” said Harper. “Nice talking to

you, too. See you Next week, Phil,” said Jenna. “See you next week, Jenna,” said Dad.
