Raised in Genoa ItalyHe was the oldest of fiveHelped his father with wool weavingAlways had wanted to see the ocean and

became a sailor at 14

Sailed to England to get sponsored at age 25 but his ship was attacked by French Pirates

Then sailed to Spain and tried to get sponsored by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand

It took 13 years but they finally agreed to sponsor Christopher

They gave him three boats- The Santa Marie, The Nina and the Pinta and 90 sailors

The purpose of this expedition was to find new land, gold and add to maps.

The travel route of their trip was from Spain, sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to what is now the Bahamas then sailed back

The year they left was 1492They spotted land on October 12, 1493Christopher named the land San Salvador Called the Natives Indians because he

thought he had reached the west IndiesThe friendly Natives showed Christopher and

his sailors to Cuba were they found the Civilations wearing golden ornaments and took them for the King and Queen.

The results of this expedition was they found a new trade route, the made changed things on maps, and found gold

Christopher Columbus looked down on the natives for he thought he and his crew were better.

on Christmas Eve, the Santa Marie sunk and was wrecked.

Christopher was heart broken but he stayed strong.

This changed the world by discovering new land
