MiscDecoArt Matte Spray VarnishTracing paper, stylus, pencil, graphite paper, water bowl, paper towels, palette paper.

InstructionsBegin by applying the design to a black box.

Brush UsesScript: Use for all thin lines. Color is thinned with 50 percent water. Round: Use for thick lines and basecoating.Angles: Use to float color or basecoating large areas. Use the best size to fit the area.Fandango or Rake: Use to create feathers. Color is thinned with 50 percent water. Use a gentle touch and tickle with the tips to create multiple lines; no pressure.

Eagle EyeBasecoat the iris with Warm White first and then Yellow Oxide. Add Yellow Oxide on the bottom eyelid. Basecoat the pupil Carbon Black.

The highlight is a Hansa Yellow Light thick line in the center of the iris and thin line on the top edge of the lid.

Float Burnt Sienna around the outside edge of iris, top of iris and bottom edge of the lid. Float Black across the entire top of the eye.

Paint a thin Carbon Black line to separate the iris and bottom lid.Beak

Basecoat with Warm White first and then Yellow Oxide when dry. You want a solid cov-erage.

Shade with a float of Raw Sienna first, then deepen with Burnt Sienna. Deepen the mouth and nostril once more with Burnt Umber.

Hightlight with a float of Hansa Yellow Light first and then strengthen with Titanium White. Allow to dry between coats.

FeathersBottom feathers are Burnt Sienna first, Raw Sienna next and then Yellow Oxide added to only a few top ones.

Top feathers are Warm White first and then Titanium White. Float Burnt Umber to shade around the bottom of the eye, right side of beak and under the beak.

Torn EdgesBasecoat the fold-over areas and outline with Blue Grey.Highlight with a float of Light Grey on smooth edge of folds.

FinishingSpray with DecoArt Matte Varnish.
