Mercury is a bare and rocky with deep carter Choes.

The carters were caused when comets and asteroids stuck the surface billions of years ago.

VenusVenus was named for

the Roman goddess of love and beauty.

Although it is farther from the sun than Mercury,Venus is even hotter.

Venus is surrounded by thick clouds that reflect the Sun.

EarthEarth is 93 million

miles from the Sun.

Earth is a ball of rock almost covered by ocean.

From space Earth looks like a ball covered with clouds.

MarsMars was named

for the Roman god of war.

The atmosphere of Mars is only 1/100 as thick as Earths.

Mars is only about the size of Earth.

JupiterJupiter is the fifth planet from the sun.Jupiter is twice as

large as the other eight planets put together.

483 million miles from the sun.

SATURN Saturn is surrounded by clouds of raging storms and powerful winds reaching speeds of over 1,000 mph.

The clouds appear as bands of light gold,beige, white,and are made up mostly of poisonous gases.

Some water vapor is also present

URANUSUranus is the

seventh planet from the sun.

It remains in daylight for half its year.

Uranus rotates in the oppsite direction of the other four outer four planets.

NeptuneNeptune is the

eighth planet from the Sun.

The rings are made up of tiny dust particles revolving around the planet.

Winds on the surface of Neptune reach 600 mph.

PLUTOPluto has one moon ,

Charon, which is nearly as large as the planet itself .

Although it is extremely cold on Pluto, the planet does have an atmosphere at times.

As it moves further from the Sun, the atmosphere is lost again.
