WRITING A CONCLUDING SENTENCE

What is a Concluding Sentence?

A Concluding Sentence ends the paragraph. It restates the topic sentence in different words. It sums up the information in the paragraph.

Concluding Sentence Explained Pretend that your paragraph is a

sandwich. The two slices of bread hold all the details inside – the peanut butter, the jelly, the pickle slices. The top slice of bread is like the topic sentence. The bottom slice of bread is like the concluding sentence.

Kacy decided she needed a new hobby. She thought about different things she could do. She thought about collecting toothpicks or paper clips. Maybe she could start making quilts. Kacy finally decided to write a family history as her new hobby.
