No mask Stylized movement Elaborate costumes

Ka= Singing Bu= dancing Ki= acting

Performers

Women were forbidden to participate

Men kabuki actors are specialist's in playing female roles (Onnagata) To this day kabuki is only performed by

men Practice art till death Orchestra (dress like chorus) Have Choirs that narrates (like

Greeks) 12 to 18 members

Stage

They used revolving platforms, trap doors and a foot bridge that leads through the audience Footbridge allowed a dramatic entrance

or exit

up expressed their emotions Deep red- expresses

anger, indignation, or rage

Pink- charming Indigo- appears on

villains or ghost Brown- worn by

villains among court nobles and by gods
