A hurricane is a severe storm that is formed in the ocean, that can cause flooding and other damage.

If there is warm water (80degrees) and air cools quickly it can help form a hurricane. It has to be storming too, to have a hurricane.

Since hurricanes are easy to predict and get slower and less powerful the closer they come to land, you have days to prepare.
