WHAT IS COMMUNITY SERVICE?

Community service is when someone performs an action which benefits his or her community.

WHY DO IT?

Community Service gives you a since of pride when you can make a difference in your surroundings.

WHY COMMUNITY SERVICE IS IMPORTANT.

Gives people an opportunity to work with others.

Provides service for the needy. It feels good to give back to the

community. Shows good citizenship and an

appreciation for where you come from.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.

RELAY FOR LIFE

Is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.

Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.

HOW I HELPED: RELAY FOR LIFE

When I participated in Relay for life, I helped out at the freshmen year experience booth. We had a game where people would threw darts at balloons that were taped to a board when they popped a balloon they won a prize which was a bag of candy.

I also walked around the track from 8:30 to 9.
