Description Of Taiga

• Taiga is also known as the Boreal Forest with coniferous forests consisting mostly of pines, spruces and larches. The taiga is also the world's largest terrestrial biome.

Latitude location

• Taiga is located between 50 degrees latitude north and the Arctic circle.

5 Herbivores• American Black Bear- The black bear's coat is

well adapted to the cold weather of winter because of its many layers of fur. Its claws are also very adapted to its environment, this is because they are just the right length to climb trees in the biome. This bear also hibernates to avoid having to find food in the winter.

• Timber Wolf- Their coats are made up of wooly fur to provide insulation and long guard hairs to keep out moisture. The gray wolf's large paws have claws for traction and can spread to provide better support in snow. Wolves have a sense of hearing twenty times Better than a human's and have a sense of smell a hundred times better. The wolf's jaws can deliver a crushing pressure of over 500 pounds per square inch. Wolves' vision is very motion sensitive. They have a reflective retina, called a tapetum that enhances their night vision.

• Long eared owl- has huge ears so they can hear 30 times better than a normal owl.

Deer- here noise up to 30 yards away. They can smell up to 3 miles away.

• Elk- They grow new antlers every year. They have huge antlers to protect themselves and to fight for women/land.

• Moose- Also have huge antlers. They grow hooves so they can move throw snow quickly.

Benefits

• There are many animals in this biome, There is lots of water and plants/trees. These are good for wildlife so they can have fresh water and lots of food. We should preserve it because there are lots of resources that can help in many ways.

Big threats?• Deforestation- We can simply recycle and

protect trees and use renewable resources.
