JK LAKSHMI CEMENT LTD
LC3 cement produced in Gujarat was provided to JK Lakshmi cement
Testing of the cement was carried out AAC blocks were produced replacing OPC
with LC3
Test Result
Standard Consistency 31.25%
Blaine's Fineness (m2/kg) 665
Initial Setting time (min) 25
Final Setting time (min) 100Loss on Ignition 7.44%

7 Days Strength (MPa) 35.8
28 Days Strength (MPa) 49.8
Test Result
Residue on 45 micron 19.8%
Reside on 90 micron 2.8%

The cement gave good strength at all ages The setting time and fineness of the cement
have to be regulated The clays should be chosen based on colour
or calcination should be controlled to reduce red colour
The cement has good potential in utilisationof low grade limestone
LC3 appears to be a commercially interesting alternative for the industry
AAC blocks were produced by carrying out 1:1 replacement of OPC by LC3
There was no issue of workability of the paste for the blocks
The colour of the cement was not visible due to large quantity of fly ash
The mix design had to be slightly adapted The strength of the blocks was comparable to
normal production
Name of Parameter AAC LC3
Block Density(Kg/M3) 585 579
Compressive strength 4.9 4.6 (N/mm2)
Exposed wall: Blocks are visible here
JK Lakshmi, IIT Delhi and TARA have signed an MoU to produce LC3 jointly
Good quality clays have been found at least in Gujarat and Rajastan
Calcination facilities readily available Detailed research programme with IIT Delhi
has been set up◦ Areas other than LC3 are also being investigated
