The Six Kingdoms

Archaebacteria

Prokaryotes that can live in extreme environments are in the kingdom Archaebacteria. Most Archaebacteria can be found living in places where most organisms could not survive.

Archaebacteria is a kingdom made up of bacteria that live in extreme environments.

Archaebacteria

The prefix Archae comes from a Greek word meaning ancient.

Archaebacteria is a kingdom made up of bacteria that live in extreme environments.

Eubacteria

Bacteria that are not in the kingdom Archaebacteria are in the kingdom Eubacteria. Eubacteria are prokaryotes that live in the soil, water, and the human body.

Eubacteria

For an example Escherichia coli. One kind of Eubacterium converts milk into yogurt.

Eubacteria is a kingdom that contins all prokaryotes except archaebacteria

Protista

Some olds and algae are protista. Sometimes they are called the odds. Most protista are unicellular.

Protista is a kingdom of mostly one celled eukaryotic organisms that are different from plants, animals, and bacteria, and also fungi.

Protista

The kingdom Protista contains many kinds of organisms. Animal like Protista are called Protozoans.

Water molds are fungus like Prtista. Members of euglena are also members of kingdom Protista.

Fungi

Looks like a mushroom mold at the bottem and mildew. Some fungi taste great but some can kill you.

Molds and mushrooms are examples of the complex multicellular members of the kingdom fungi. Unlike plants fungi don’t perform photosynthesis, and unlike animals fungi don’t eat food.

FungiFungi is a kingdom made up of nongreen, eukaryotic organisma that have no means of movement, reproduce by using spores, and get food by breaking down subctances in their surrounding and absorbing the nutrients.

Fungi is a mushroom like plant that grows on trees and out of the ground.

Plantae

Plantae is a kingdom made up of complex, multicellular organisms that are usually green, {like the picture on the side} have cell walls made of cellulose, cannot move around, and use the sun’s energy to make sugar by photosynthesis

Plantae

Although plants vary remarkably in size and form most people easily recognize the mambers of the kingdom plantae. Plantae is a plant can therefore be found on land through photosynthesis

Plantae -plants such as these are common in the tropics. The food that plants make is important not only for the plants but also for the organisms that get nutrients from plants

AnimaliaAnimalia is a kingdom made up of complex,

multicellular organisms that lack cell walls, can usually move around, and quickly respond to their environment.

Animalia

When you think of an animal, what do you imagine? You may think of a dog or cat. All those organisms are animals. But the animals kingdoms also include some members that might surprise you, such as worms, insects and corals.
