TAREE Old Bar lifesaver Pat Moses will spend three days at a Surfing NSW development camp at North Narrabeen during the next school holidays.

The 14-year-old hopes this will be the start of a successful season of competition in major events up and down the coast.

He is the only representative from the Lower North Coast Branch to attend the camp.

A board paddler, Pat is hoping to force his way into the LNC inter-branch team next season for the State championship.

His longer term aim is to compete in ironman.

"My board and run are my two stronger legs, but I'll have to work on my swimming for the ironman," he said. News Business

"Hopefully I'll get a few tips on how to improve at the camp."

Pat wants to compete at the Country championships to be held at South West Rocks next January for the first time. Then he'll target the LNC titles scheduled for Old Bar in February.

"I can't wait for the start of the season," he said.

"The (Taree Old Bar) club is back in the hands of the committee for the first time in two years. Now we're looking to get more members and build the club up again."

Pat is already on the club's patrol roster but won't be old enough to go for his bronze medallion until next year.

Pat spent the winter playing football with the Old Bar Barbarians but is now starting to concentrate of the surf. He will compete in the under 15s division and will start his campaign at the Festival of Surf to be held at Forster during the October long weekend.
