after the limited warranty period hasexpired when the problem resultsfrom a defect in material orworkmanship. These instances willbe reviewed on a case-by-casebasis. If the issue has not beenresolved to your satisfaction, followthe Customer SatisfactionProcedure 0 29.

Warranty Service

The selling dealer has invested inthe proper tools, training, and partsinventory to ensure that anynecessary warranty repairs can bemade to your GMC vehicle. GMCrequests that the vehicle bereturned to the selling dealer for allwarranty repairs. If a situation orevent occurs where you aresignificantly inconvenienced, anauthorized GMC dealer can makethe warranty repairs. However, inthe event the dealer is not able toperform the repair due to the specialtool and training requirements,contact the Customer AssistanceOffices 0 34. If you are unable toreturn to the selling dealer, contact aGMC dealer in the United States.

. Coverage is for applicablevehicles weighing over10,000 lbs based on the GrossVehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)only, for the entire life of thevehicle.


4 New Vehicle Limited Warranty

GMC will provide for repairs to thevehicle during the warranty period inaccordance with the following terms,conditions, and limitations.

What Is Covered

Warranty Applies

This warranty is for GMC vehiclesregistered in the United States andnormally operated in the UnitedStates and is provided to theoriginal and any subsequent ownersof the vehicle during the warrantyperiod.

Repairs Covered

The warranty covers repairs tocorrect any vehicle defect, not slightnoise, vibrations, or other normalcharacteristics of the vehicle due tomaterials or workmanship occurringduring the warranty period. Neededrepairs will be performed using new,remanufactured, or refurbishedparts.

No Charge

Warranty repairs, including towing,parts, and labor, will be made at nocharge.

Obtaining Repairs

To obtain warranty repairs, take thevehicle to a GMC dealer facilitywithin the warranty period andrequest the needed repairs.Reasonable time must be allowedfor the dealer to perform necessaryrepairs.

Warranty Period

The warranty period for allcoverages begins on the date thevehicle is first delivered or put inuse and ends at the expiration ofthe coverage period.

Bumper-to-Bumper Coverage

The complete vehicle is covered for3 years or 36,000 miles, whichevercomes first, except for othercoverages listed here under “WhatIs Covered” and those items listedunder “What Is Not Covered” later inthis section.

Powertrain Coverage

. Coverage is provided for 5 yearsor 60,000 miles, whichevercomes first

. 2500 and 3500 Series HeavyDuty (HD) Pickups equippedwith a 6.6L DuramaxTurbo-Diesel Engine are coveredfor 5 years or 100,000 mileswhichever comes first.

. Certain commercial fleet and/orgovernment fleet vehiclespurchased under a qualifyingfleet account number arecovered for 5 years or100,000 miles, whichever comesfirst.

Engine Coverage includes: Allinternally lubricated parts, engine oilcooling hoses and lines. Alsoincluded are all actuators andelectrical components internal to theengine (e.g., Active FuelManagement Valve Lifter OilManifold) cylinder head, block,timing gears, timing chain, timingcover, oil pump/oil pump housing,OHC carriers, valve covers, oil pan,

seals, gaskets, manifolds, flywheel,water pump, harmonic balancer,engine mount, turbocharger, andsupercharger. Timing belts, andother associated componentsrequired in the timing belt servicereplacement procedure are covereduntil the first scheduledmaintenance interval.

Diesel Components Coverageincludes: Cylinder block andheads and all internal parts, intakeand exhaust manifolds, timinggears, timing gear chain or belt andcover, flywheel, harmonic balancer,valve covers, oil pan, oil pump,water pump, fuel pump, enginemounts, seals, and gaskets. Parts ofthe Emissions Reduction Systemsuch as the emissions reductionfluid tank, injectors, sensorsincluding NOX and exhaust, and theExhaust Particulate Filter. GlowPlug Control System: Control/glowplug assembly, glow plugs, coldadvance relay, and engine controlmodule. The fuel injection controlmodule, integral oil cooler,transmission adapter plate, common

fuel rails, fuel filter assembly, fueltemperature sensor, and functionblock.

Important: Some of thesecomponents may also be coveredby the Emissions Warranty. SeeEmission Warranty Parts List 0 23

Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are sensors,wiring, connectors, engine radiator,coolant hoses, coolant, and heatercore. Coverage on the enginecooling system begins at the inlet tothe water pump and ends with thethermostat housing and/or outletthat attaches to the return hose.Also excluded is the starter motor,entire pressurized fuel system(in-tank fuel pump, pressure lines,fuel rail(s), regulator, injectors, andreturn line) as well as the Engine/Powertrain Control Module and/ormodule programming.

Transmission/Transaxle Coverageincludes: All internally lubricatedparts, case, torque converter,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transmission/

transaxle. Also covered are anyactuators directly connected to thetransmission (slave cylinder, etc.).

Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage aretransmission cooling lines, hoses,radiator, sensors, wiring, andelectrical connectors. Also excludedare the clutch and pressure plate aswell as any Transmission ControlModule and/or moduleprogramming.

Transfer Case Coverage includes:All internally lubricated parts, case,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transfer case. Alsocovered are any actuators directlyconnected to the transfer case aswell as encoder motor.

Tire Coverage

The tires supplied with your vehicleare covered by General Motorsagainst defects in material orworkmanship under thebumper-to-bumper warrantycoverage. Wear-out is notconsidered a defect, and it may



occur before the vehicle warrantyexpires. In this case, the owner isresponsible to purchasereplacement tires, or seek coveragesolely from the tire manufacturer.For vehicles within thebumper-to-bumper warrantycoverage, defective tires will bereplaced on a prorated adjustmentbasis according to the followingmileage-based schedule:

This schedule applies to the price ofthe tires only. GMC will cover 100%of the cost to mount and balancethe tires replaced under warranty forthe full bumper-to-bumper warrantyperiod.

After your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty expires, you may still haveprorated warranty coverage on youroriginal equipment tires by the tiremanufacturer. Contact your GMCdealer or the tire manufacturer of

When a tire is removed from servicedue to a covered warranty conditionunder a tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, you may beeligible for a tire replacement or acomparable new tire on a proratedbasis.

The tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, which can beobtained by calling or visiting thetire manufacturer's website or anyauthorized dealer, is in lieu of allother remedies or warranties,expressed or implied, arising by lawor otherwise, including fitness for aparticular purpose or

merchantability. The tiremanufacturers expressly disclaimliability for indirect, special,incidental, or consequentialdamages, lost profit, loss ofbusiness, loss of goodwill, loss ofreputation, punitive or any otherdamage, cost, or loss of any kind.*



*Some states do not allow theexclusion or limitation of incidentalor consequential damages, so theabove limitations or exclusion maynot apply to you.

Accessory Coverages

Most GMC parts and accessoriessold and permanently installed on aGMC vehicle by a GMC Dealer orGMC approved AccessoryDistributor/Installer (ADI) prior todelivery will be covered under theapplicable portion(Bumper-to-Bumper, Powertrain,etc.) of the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty. In the event GMaccessories are installed aftervehicle delivery, or are replacedunder the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, they will be covered, partsand labor, for the balance of theapplicable portion of the NewVehicle Limited Warranty, but in noevent less than 12 months/unlimitedmiles.

GM accessories sold over thecounter, or those not requiringinstallation, will receive the standardGM Dealer Accessories Warranty of12 months from the date ofpurchase, parts only.

GM Licensed and IntegratedBusiness Partner (IBP) Accessoriesare covered under theaccessory-specific manufacturer'swarranty and are not warranted byGM or its dealers.

Caution

This warranty excludes:

Any communications device thatbecomes unusable or unable tofunction as intended due tounavailability of compatiblewireless service or GPS satellitesignals.

Sheet Metal Coverage

Sheet metal panels are coveredagainst corrosion and rust-throughas follows:

Corrosion: Body sheet metalpanels are covered against rust for3 years or 36,000 miles, whichevercomes first.

Rust-Through: Any body sheetmetal panel that rusts through, anactual hole in the sheet metal, iscovered for up to 6 years or100,000 miles, whichever comesfirst.

Important: Cosmetic or surfacecorrosion, resulting from stone chipsor scratches in the paint, forexample, is not included in sheetmetal coverage.

Towing

Towing is covered to the nearestGMC dealer if your vehicle cannotbe driven because of a warranteddefect.



What Is Not Covered

Tire and Wheel Damage or Wear

Normal tire wear or wear-out is notcovered. Tire wear is influenced bymany variables such as roadconditions, driving styles, vehicleweight, and tire construction.Uniform tire wear is a normalcondition, and is not considered adefect. Road hazard damage suchas punctures, cuts, snags, andbreaks resulting from potholeimpact, curb impact, or from otherobjects is not covered. Tire weardue to misalignment beyond thewarranty period is not covered.Also, damage from improperinflation, overloading, spinning, aswhen stuck in mud or snow, tirechains, racing, improper mountingor dismounting, misuse, negligence,alteration, improper repair, accident,collision, fire, vandalism,or misapplication is not covered.Damage to wheels or tire sidewallscaused by automatic car washes orcleaning agents is not covered.

Damage Due to Bedliners

Owners of trucks with a bedliner,whether after-market or factoryinstalled, should expect that withnormal operation the bedliner willmove. This movement may causefinish damage. Therefore, anydamage caused by the bedliner isnot covered under the terms of theNew Vehicle Limited Warranty.

The factory spray-in bedliner (RPOCGN) is not covered for a loss ofshine and luster or fading. Refer tothe Owner’s Manual for moreinformation on spray-in bedlinermaintenance.

Damage Due to Accident, Misuse,or Alteration

The New Vehicle Limited Warrantydoes not cover damage caused asthe result of any of the following:

. Collision, fire, theft, freezing,vandalism, riot, explosion,or objects striking the vehicle

. Misuse of the vehicle such asdriving over curbs, overloading,racing, or other competition.Proper vehicle use is discussedin the owner manual.

. Alteration, modification,or tampering to the vehicle,including, but not limited to thebody, chassis, powertrain,driveline, software, or othercomponents after final assemblyby GMC.

. Coverages do not apply if theodometer has beendisconnected, its reading hasbeen altered, or mileage cannotbe determined.

. Installation of non-GM (GeneralMotors) parts

. Water or fluid contamination

. Damage resulting from hail,floods, windstorms, lightning,and other environmentalconditions

. Alteration of glass parts byapplication of tinting films



Important: This warranty is void onvehicles currently or previously titledas salvaged, scrapped, junked,or otherwise considered a total loss.

Damage or Corrosion Due toEnvironment, ChemicalTreatments, or AftermarketProducts

Damage caused by airborne fallout,rail dust, salt from sea air, salt orother materials used to control roadconditions, chemicals, tree sap,stones, hail, earthquake, water orflood, windstorm, lightning, theapplication of chemicals or sealantssubsequent to manufacture, etc., isnot covered. See “Chemical PaintSpotting” under Things to KnowAbout the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty 0 14.

Damage Due to Insufficient orImproper Maintenance

Damage caused by failure to followthe recommended maintenanceschedule intervals and/or failure touse or maintain proper fluids,or maintain fluids betweenrecommended maintenance

intervals, fuel, lubricants,or refrigerants recommended in theowner manual is not covered.

Damage Due to Contaminated,Improper, or Poor Quality Fuel

Poor fuel quality or incorrect fuelmay cause driveability problemssuch as hesitation, lack of power,stalling, or failure to start. They mayalso degrade functionality of criticalexhaust emissions componentssuch as spark plugs, oxygensensors, and the catalytic converter.Damage from poor fuel quality,water contamination, or if thevehicle requires premium fuel,operating the vehicle on gasolinewith a Pump Octane less than a 91(R+M)/2, may not be covered.

Prohibited fuels are: Gasolinescontaining any methanol, MMT, anorganometallic octane enhancingadditive, and/or fuels containingmore than 15% ethanol in non-FlexFuel Vehicles (FFV).

Please refer to your owner manualunder “Fuel,” for additionalrecommendations, including the use

of TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline.Additional information can also befound at: www.toptiergas.com/index.html.

Damage Due to Impact, Use,or the Environment

Windshield or glass cracks, chips,or scratches due to impact are notcovered. Windshield cracks will becovered for the first 12 months,regardless of mileage if caused bydefects in material or workmanship.

Lights, lenses, mirrors, paint, grille,moldings and trim are not coveredfor cracks, chips, scratches, dents,dings, and punctures or tears as aresult of impact with other objects orroad hazards. In addition, cracks,chips, scratches, or other damageto the face of a radio or instrumentcluster from impact or foreignobjects are not covered.

Third Party Externally ConnectedElectrical Products

This warranty does not apply tohardware or software of a third partydevice that is connected to thevehicle or its components, even if



integrated or delivered with thevehicle. GM is not responsible forthe quality or accuracy of anyinformation, or service accessedthrough or from any third partydevice or platform. Softwaredistributed by GM inside or outsidethe vehicle (including, but not limitedto system software or applications)is not covered by this Warranty. GMdoes not warrant that connectionsto, from or through the vehicle willbe uninterrupted or error-free. Also,the user should back-up their dataand information frequently. GM isnot responsible for any loss ordamage to data or information madeavailable in connection with the useof the vehicle. In addition, thisWarranty does not apply: (a) toconsumable parts that are designedto diminish over time, unless failurehas occurred due to a defect inmaterials or workmanship; (b) todamage caused by use with anotherproduct or service; (c) to damagecaused by a third party device orservice (including upgrades andexpansions), or (d) to obsolescenceor lack of utility due to

incompatibility with future versionsof external hardware or software,including, but not limited to mobiledevices.

Maintenance

All vehicles require periodicmaintenance. Maintenanceservices, such as those detailed inthe owner manual are the owner'sexpense. Vehicle lubrication,cleaning, or polishing are notcovered. Failure of or damage tocomponents requiring replacementor repair due to vehicle use, wear,exposure, or lack of maintenance isnot covered.

Items such as:

. Audio System Cleaning

. Brake Pads/Linings

. Clutch Linings

. Coolants and Fluids

. Filters

. Limited Slip Rear Axle Service

. Tire Rotation

. Wheel Alignment/Balance

. Wiper Inserts

are covered by the New VehicleLimited Warranty for up to 7,500miles; any replacement after7,500 miles is consideredmaintenance and is not coveredas part of the New VehicleLimited Warranty. Keyless Entrybatteries (or other remotetransmitter/receiver batteries)and exterior incandescent bulbsare covered for up to 12 monthsonly; any replacement after 12months is consideredmaintenance and is not coveredas part of the New VehicleLimited Warranty. The NewVehicle Limited Warranty onlycovers components whenreplacement or repair of thesecomponents is the result of adefect in material orworkmanship.

Extra Expenses

Economic loss or extra expense isnot covered.

Examples include:

GMC Sierra eAssist® Coverage

For vehicles sold in the UnitedStates, in addition to the BaseWarranty Coverage described in theWarranty and Owner Assistancebooklet, General Motors will warrantcertain eAssist components for theGMC Sierra eAssist for 8 years or100,000 miles (160 000 kilometers),whichever comes first, from theoriginal in-service date of thevehicle, against warrantable repairsto the specific eAssist componentsof the vehicle.

This warranty is for eAssist vehiclesregistered and normally operated inthe United States. In addition to theinitial owner of the vehicle, the

coverage described in this eAssistwarranty is transferable at no cost toany subsequent person(s) whoassumes ownership of the vehiclewithin the above-described 8 yearsor 100,000 miles(160 000 kilometers) term. Nodeductibles are associated with thiseAssist warranty.

This eAssist component warranty isin addition to the express conditionsand warranties described previously.The coverage and benefitsdescribed under “New VehicleLimited Warranty” are not extendedor altered because of this specialeAssist Component Warranty.

eAssist Components

The energy storage control moduleand components including eAssistbattery, eAssist battery disconnect,powerpack assembly, the eAssistbattery cooling fan, the startergenerator unit, starter generatorcooling pump, high voltage 3-phasecables assembly, HVDC cables, andthe transmission fluid accumulatorand solenoid.



What is Not Covered

In addition to the “What is NotCovered” section previously, thiseAssist warranty does not cover thefollowing items:

Wear Items

Wear items, such as brake linings,are not covered in this eAssistwarranty.

Maintenance

As the vehicle owner, you areresponsible for the performance ofthe scheduled maintenance listed inyour owner manual. Maintenanceintervals, checks, inspections, andrecommended fluids and lubricantsas prescribed in the owner manualare necessary to keep your vehiclein good working condition. Anydamage caused by the owner/lessee failure to follow scheduledmaintenance may not be covered bywarranty. Scheduled items include:

Warranty Repairs –Component Exchanges

In the interest of customersatisfaction, GM may offerexchange service on some vehiclecomponents. This service isintended to reduce the amount oftime your vehicle is not available foruse due to repairs. Componentsused in exchange are servicereplacement parts that may be new,remanufactured, or refurbished.

Remanufactured parts meet GMapproved service part requirementsand are made from previously usedcomponents in a process thatinvolves disassembly, inspection,cleaning, update of software andreplacement of parts as appropriate,testing and reassembly.

Refurbished parts meet GMapproved service part requirementsand are previously used parts thatare inspected, cleaned, tested, andrepackaged.

All exchange components usedmeet GM standards and arewarranted the same as new

components. Examples of the typesof components that might beserviced in this fashion include:engine and transmissionassemblies, instrument clusterassemblies, radios, compact discplayers, batteries, and powertraincontrol modules.

Warranty Repairs – RecycledMaterials

Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) guidelines and GM supportthe capture, purification, and reuseof automotive air conditioningrefrigerant gases and enginecoolant. As a result, any repairs GMmay make to your vehicle mayinvolve the installation of purifiedreclaimed refrigerant and coolant.

Tire Service

Any authorized GMC or tire dealerfor your brand of tires can assist youwith tire service. If, after contactingone of these dealers, you needfurther assistance or you havequestions, contact the GMCCustomer Assistance Center. The

Aftermarket EnginePerformance EnhancementProducts and Modifications

Some aftermarket engineperformance products andmodifications promise a way toincrease the horsepower and torquelevels of your vehicle’s powertrain.You should be aware that theseproducts may have detrimentaleffects on the performance and lifeof the engine, exhaust emissionsystem, transmission, anddrivetrain. The Duramax DieselEngine, Allison AutomaticTransmission®, and drivetrain havebeen designed and built to offerindustry leading durability andperformance in the most demandingapplications. Engine powerenhancement products may enablethe engine to operate at horsepowerand torque levels that coulddamage, create failure, or reducethe life of the engine, engineemission system, transmission, and

drivetrain. Damage, failure,or reduced life of the engine,transmission, emission system,drivetrain or other vehiclecomponents caused by aftermarketengine performance enhancementproducts or modifications may notbe covered under your vehiclewarranty.

After-Manufacture“Rustproofing”Your vehicle was designed and builtto resist corrosion. Application ofadditional rust-inhibiting materials isneither necessary nor requiredunder the Sheet Metal Coverage.GM makes no recommendationsconcerning the usefulness or valueof such products.

Application of after-manufacturerustproofing products may create anenvironment which reduces thecorrosion resistance built into yourvehicle. Repairs to correct damagecaused by such applications are notcovered under your New VehicleLimited Warranty.

Paint, Trim, and AppearanceItems

Defects in paint, trim, upholstery,or other appearance items arenormally corrected during newvehicle preparation. If you find anypaint or appearance concerns,advise your dealer as soon aspossible. Your owner manual hasinstructions regarding the care ofthese items.

Vehicle Operation and Care

Considering the investment youhave made in your GMC, we knowyou will want to operate andmaintain it properly. We urge you tofollow the maintenance instructionsin your owner manual.

If you have questions on how tokeep your vehicle in good workingcondition, see your GMC dealer, theplace many customers choose tohave their maintenance work done.You can rely on your GMC dealer touse the proper parts and repairpractices.

Maintenance and WarrantyService Records

Retain receipts coveringperformance of regularmaintenance. Receipts can be veryimportant if a question arises as towhether a malfunction is caused bylack of maintenance or a defect inmaterial or workmanship.

A “Maintenance Record” is providedin the maintenance schedulesection of the owner manual forrecording services performed.

The servicing dealer can provide acopy of any warranty repairs foryour records.

Chemical Paint Spotting

Some weather and atmosphericconditions can create a chemicalfallout. Airborne pollutants can fallupon and adhere to paintedsurfaces on your vehicle. Thisdamage can take two forms:blotchy, ring-shaped discolorations,and/or small irregular dark spotsetched into the paint surface.



Although no defect in the factoryapplied paint causes this, GMC willrepair, at no charge to the owner,the painted surfaces of new vehiclesdamaged by this fallout conditionwithin 12 months or 12,000 miles ofpurchase, whichever comes first.

Warranty Coverage –Extensions

Time Extensions : The NewVehicle Limited Warranty will beextended one day for each daybeyond the first 24 hour period inwhich your vehicle is at anauthorized dealer facility forwarranty service. You may be askedto show the repair orders to verifythe period of time the warranty is tobe extended. Your extension rightsmay vary depending on state law.

Mileage Extensions : Prior todelivery, some mileage is put onyour vehicle during testing at theassembly plant, during shipping,and while at the dealer facility. Thedealer records this mileage on thefirst page of this warranty booklet atdelivery. For eligible vehicles, thismileage will be added to themileage limits of the warrantyensuring that you receive full benefitof the coverage. Mileage extensioneligibility:

. Applies only to new vehiclesheld exclusively in new vehicleinventory.

. Does not apply to used vehicles,GM-owned vehicles, dealerowned used vehicles, or dealerdemonstrator vehicles.

. Does not apply to vehicles withmore than 1,000 miles on theodometer even though thevehicle may not have beenregistered for license plates.

Warranty Service — ForeignCountries

Touring Owner Service

If you are touring in a foreigncountry and repairs are needed,take your vehicle to the nearest GMdealer which sells and servicesGMC vehicles. However, if a GMCdealer cannot be located,significantly inconveniencedcustomers can take their vehicle toany GM dealer for repairs

Important: Repairs madenecessary by the use of improper ordirty fuels and lubricants are notcovered under the warranty. Seeyour owner manual for additionalinformation on fuel requirementswhen operating in foreign countries.

Permanent Relocation

This warranty applies to GMCvehicles registered in the UnitedStates and normally operated in theUnited States. If you havepermanently relocated andestablished household residency inanother country, GM may authorize

the performance of repairs underthe warranty authorized for vehiclesgenerally sold by GM in thatcountry. Contact an authorized GMdealer in your country forassistance.

Important: GM warranty coveragesmay be void on GM vehicles thathave been imported/exported forresale.

Original Equipment Alterations

This warranty does not cover anydamage or failure resulting frommodification or alteration to thevehicle's original equipment asmanufactured or assembled byGeneral Motors. Examples of thetypes of alterations that would notbe covered include cutting, welding,or disconnecting of the vehicle'soriginal equipment parts andcomponents.

Additionally, General Motors doesnot warranty non-GM parts,calibrations, and/or softwaremodifications. The use of parts,control module calibrations,software modifications, and/or any

other alterations not issued throughGeneral Motors will void thewarranty coverage for thosecomponents that are damaged orotherwise affected by the installationof the non-GM part, control modulecalibration, software modification,and/or other alteration.

The only exception is that non-GMparts labeled “Certified to EPAStandards” are covered by theFederal Emissions PerformanceWarranty.

Recreation Vehicle and SpecialBody or Equipment Alterations

Installations or alterations to theoriginal equipment vehicle orchassis, as manufactured andassembled by GM, are not coveredby this warranty. The special bodycompany, assembler, or equipmentinstaller is solely responsible forwarranties on the body orequipment and any alterations toany of the parts, components,systems, or assemblies installed byGM. Examples include, but are notlimited to, special body installations,

such as recreational vehicles, theinstallation of any non-GM part,cutting, welding, or thedisconnecting of original equipmentvehicle or chassis parts andcomponents, extension of thewheelbase, suspension anddriveline modifications, and axleadditions.

Pre-Delivery Service

Defects in the mechanical,electrical, sheet metal, paint, trim,and other components of yourvehicle may occur at the factory orwhile it is being transported to thedealer facility. Normally, any defectsoccurring during assembly areidentified and corrected at thefactory during the inspectionprocess. In addition, dealers inspecteach vehicle before delivery. Theyrepair any uncorrected factorydefects and any transit damagedetected before the vehicle isdelivered to you.

Any defects still present at the timethe vehicle is delivered to you arecovered by the warranty. If you find



any defects, advise your dealerwithout delay. For further detailsconcerning any repairs which thedealer may have made prior to youtaking delivery of your vehicle, askyour dealer.

Production Changes

GM and GMC dealers reserve theright to make changes in vehiclesbuilt and/or sold by them at any timewithout incurring any obligation tomake the same or similar changeson vehicles previously built and/orsold by them.

Noise Emissions Warranty forLight Duty Trucks Over10,000 LbsGross VehicleWeight Rating (GVWR) Only

GM warrants to the first person whopurchases this vehicle for purposesother than resale and to eachsubsequent purchaser of thisvehicle, as manufactured by GM,that this vehicle was designed, built,and equipped to conform at the time

it left GM's control with all applicableUnited States EPA Noise ControlRegulations.

This warranty covers this vehicle asdesigned, built, and equipped byGM, and is not limited to anyparticular part, component,or system of the vehiclemanufactured by GM. Defects indesign or assembly, or in any part,component, or vehicle system asmanufactured by GM, which, at thetime it left GM's control, causednoise emissions to exceed FederalStandards, are covered by thiswarranty for the life of the vehicle.

How to Determine theApplicable Emissions ControlSystem Warranty

State and Federal agencies mayrequire a different emission controlsystem warranty depending on:

. Whether the vehicle conforms toregulations applicable to lightduty or heavy duty emissioncontrol systems.

. Whether the vehicle conforms toor is certified for Californiaregulations in addition to U.S.EPA Federal regulations.

All vehicles are eligible for FederalEmissions Control System WarrantyCoverage. If the emissions controllabel contains language stating thevehicle conforms to Californiaregulations, the vehicle is alsoeligible for California EmissionsControl System Warranty Coverage.

Emission-related defects in thegenuine GMC parts listed under theEmission Warranty Parts List,including related diagnostic costs,parts, and labor are covered by thiswarranty.

Federal Emission PerformanceWarranty

Some states and/or localjurisdictions have establishedperiodic vehicle Inspection andMaintenance (I/M) programs toencourage proper maintenance ofyour vehicle. If an EPA-approvedI/M program is enforced in yourarea, you may also be eligible forEmission Performance Warrantycoverage when all three of thefollowing conditions are met:

. The vehicle has beenmaintained and operated inaccordance with the instructions

for proper maintenance and useset forth in the owner manualsupplied with your vehicle.

. The vehicle fails anEPA-approved I/M test duringthe emission warranty period.

. The failure results, or will result,in the owner of the vehiclehaving to bear a penalty or othersanctions, including the denial ofthe right to use the vehicle,under local, state, or federal law.

GMC warrants that your dealer willreplace, repair, or adjust to GMCspecifications, at no charge to you,any of the parts listed in EmissionWarranty Parts List 0 23 which maybe necessary to conform to theapplicable emission standards.Non-GMC parts labeled “Certified toEPA Standards” are covered by theFederal Emission PerformanceWarranty.

California Emission ControlSystem Warranty

This section outlines the emissionwarranty that GMC provides for yourvehicle in accordance with the

California Air Resources Board.Defects in material or workmanshipin GMC emission parts may also becovered under the New VehicleLimited WarrantyBumper-to-Bumper coverage. Theremay be additional coverage on GMdiesel engine vehicles. In any case,the warranty with the broadestcoverage applies.

This warranty applies if your vehiclemeets both of the followingrequirements:

Your Rights and Obligations (ForVehicles Subject to CaliforniaExhaust Emission Standards)

The California Air Resources Boardand General Motors Corporation arepleased to explain the emissioncontrol system warranty on yourvehicle. In California, new motorvehicles must be designed, built,and equipped to meet the state'sstringent anti-smog standards. GMCmust warrant the emission controlsystem on your vehicle for theperiods of time and mileage listedprovided there has been no abuse,neglect, or improper maintenance of

your vehicle. Your vehicle'semission control system mayinclude parts such as the fuelinjection system, ignition system,catalytic converter, and enginecomputer. Also included are hoses,belts, connectors, and otheremission-related assemblies.

Where a warrantable conditionexists, GM will repair your vehicle atno cost to you including diagnosis,parts, and labor.

California Emission Defect andEmission Performance WarrantyCoverage

For cars and trucks with light duty ormedium duty emissions:

. For 3 years or 50,000 miles(5 years or 50,000 miles forDuramax Diesel), whichevercomes first:

‐ If your vehicle fails a smogcheck inspection, GMC willmake all necessary repairsand adjustments to ensurethat your vehicle passes the

inspection. This is yourEmission Control SystemPerformance Warranty.

‐ If any emission-related part onyour vehicle is defective, GMCwill repair or replace it. This isyour Short-term EmissionControl System DefectsWarranty.

. For 7 years or 70,000 miles,whichever comes first:

‐ If an emission-related partlisted in this booklet speciallynoted with coverage for7 years or 70,000 miles isdefective, GMC will repair orreplace it. This is yourLong-term Emission ControlSystem Defects Warranty.

. For 8 years or 80,000 miles,whichever comes first forvehicles with a Gross VehicleWeight Rating (GVWR) of8,500 lbs. or less:

Any authorized GMC dealer will, asnecessary under these warranties,replace, repair, or adjust to GMCspecifications any genuine GMCparts that affect emissions.

The applicable warranty period shallbegin on the date the vehicle isdelivered to the first retail purchaseror, if the vehicle is first placed inservice as a demonstrator orcompany vehicle prior to sale atretail, on the date the vehicle isplaced in such service.

Owner's Warranty Responsibilities

As the vehicle owner, you areresponsible for the performance ofthe scheduled maintenance listed inyour owner manual. GMCrecommends that you retain allmaintenance receipts for yourvehicle, but GMC cannot denywarranty coverage solely for thelack of receipts or for your failure toensure the performance of allscheduled maintenance.

You are responsible for presentingyour vehicle to a GMC dealer sellingyour vehicle line as soon as aproblem exists. The warrantedrepairs should be completed in areasonable amount of time, not toexceed 30 days.

As the vehicle owner, you shouldalso be aware that GMC may denywarranty coverage if your vehicle ora part has failed due to abuse,neglect, improper or insufficientmaintenance, modifications notapproved by GMC, or if the defect isnot emissions-related.

Parts specified in your maintenanceschedule that require scheduledreplacement are covered up to theirfirst replacement interval or theapplicable emission warrantycoverage period, whichever comesfirst. If failure of one of these parts

results in failure of another part,both will be covered under theEmission Control System Warranty.

For detailed information concerningspecific parts covered by theseemission control system warranties,ask your dealer.

Replacement Parts

The emission control systems ofyour vehicle were designed, built,and tested using genuine GM parts*and the vehicle is certified as beingin conformity with applicable federaland California emissionrequirements. Accordingly, it isrecommended that anyreplacement parts used formaintenance or for the repair ofemission control systems be new,genuine GM parts.

The warranty obligations are notdependent upon the use of anyparticular brand of replacementparts. The owner may elect to usenon-genuine GM parts forreplacement purposes. Use ofreplacement parts which are not of



equivalent quality may impair theeffectiveness of emission controlsystems.

If other than new, genuine GM partsare used for maintenancereplacements or for the repair ofparts affecting emission control, theowner should assure himself/herselfthat such parts are warranted bytheir manufacturer to be equivalentto genuine GM parts in performanceand durability.

* “Genuine GM parts,” when used inconnection with GM vehicles,means parts manufactured by or forGM, designed for use on GMvehicles, and distributed by anydivision or subsidiary of GM.

Maintenance and Repairs

Maintenance and repairs can beperformed by any qualified serviceoutlet; however, warranty repairsmust be performed by an authorizeddealer except in a situation wherethe vehicle owner is significantlyinconvenienced and a warranted

part or a warranty station is notreasonably available to the vehicleowner.

In a situation where the vehicleowner is significantlyinconvenienced, and an authorizeddealer is not reasonably available,repairs may be performed at anyavailable service establishment orby the owner, using anyreplacement part. GMC will considerreimbursement for the expenseincurred, including diagnosis, not toexceed the manufacturer'ssuggested retail price for allwarranted parts replaced and laborcharges based on GMC'srecommended time allowance forthe warranty repair and thegeographically appropriate laborrate. A part not being availablewithin 10 days or a repair not beingcompleted within 30 daysconstitutes a significantinconvenience. Retain receipts andfailed parts in order to receivecompensation for warranty repairsreimbursable due to an emergency.

If you are in a situation where youare significantly inconvenienced andit is necessary to have repairsperformed by other than a GMCdealer and you believe the repairsare covered by emission warranties,take the replaced parts and yourreceipt to a GMC dealer forreimbursement consideration. Thisapplies to both the FederalEmission Defect Warranty andFederal Emission PerformanceWarranty.

Receipts and records covering theperformance of regular maintenanceor repairs (such as those outlinedearlier) should be retained in theevent questions arise concerningmaintenance. These receipts andrecords should be transferred toeach subsequent owner. GM will notdeny warranty coverage solely onthe absence of maintenancerecords. However, GM may deny awarranty claim if a failure to performscheduled maintenance resulted inthe failure of a warranty part.



Claims Procedure

As with the other warrantiescovered in this booklet, take yourvehicle to any authorized GMCdealer facility to obtain serviceunder the emission warranty. Thisshould be done as soon as possibleafter failing an EPA-approved I/Mtest or a California smog check test,or at any time you suspect a defectin a part.

Those repairs qualifying under thewarranty will be performed by anyGMC dealer at no charge. Repairswhich do not qualify will be chargedto you. You will be notified as towhether or not the repair qualifiesunder the warranty within areasonable time, not to exceed30 days after receipt of the vehicleby the dealer, or within the timeperiod required by local or state law.

The only exceptions would be if yourequest or agree to an extension,or if a delay results from eventsbeyond the control of your dealer orGM. If you are not so notified, GMwill provide any required repairs atno charge.

In the event a warranty matter is nothandled to your satisfaction, refer tothe Customer SatisfactionProcedure 0 29.

Your satisfaction and goodwill areimportant to your dealer and toGMC. Normally, any concerns withthe sales transaction or theoperation of your vehicle will beresolved by your dealer's sales orservice departments. Sometimes,however, despite the best intentionsof all concerned, misunderstandingscan occur. If your concern has notbeen resolved to your satisfaction,the following steps should be taken:

STEP ONE : Discuss yourconcern with a member of dealermanagement. Normally, concernscan be quickly resolved at that level.If the matter has already beenreviewed with the sales, service,or parts manager, contact theowner of the dealer facility or thegeneral manager.

STEP TWO : If after contacting amember of dealer management, itappears your concern cannot beresolved by the dealer withoutfurther help contact the GMCCustomer Assistance Center bycalling 1-800-GMC-8782 (462–8782). In Canada, contact GM of

Canada Customer Care Centre bycalling 1-800-263-3777: English,or 1-800-263-7854: French.

We encourage you to call thetoll-free number in order to giveyour inquiry prompt attention.Have the following informationavailable to give the CustomerAssistance Representative:

. The Vehicle IdentificationNumber (VIN). This is availablefrom the vehicle registration ortitle, or the plate above the top ofthe instrument panel on thedriver side, and visible throughthe windshield.

. The dealer name and location.

. The vehicle delivery date andpresent mileage.

When contacting GMC, rememberthat your concern will likely beresolved at a dealer's facility. That iswhy we suggest you followStep One first if you have aconcern.

STEP THREE : Both GM and yourGMC dealer are committed tomaking sure you are completelysatisfied with your new vehicle.However, if you continue to remainunsatisfied after following theprocedure outlined in Steps Oneand Two, you can file with the BetterBusiness Bureau (BBB) Auto LineProgram to enforce any additionalrights you may have.

The BBB Auto Line Program is anout of court program administeredby the Council of Better BusinessBureaus to settle automotivedisputes regarding vehicle repairs orthe interpretation of the New VehicleLimited Warranty. Although you maybe required to resort to this informaldispute resolution program prior tofiling a court action, use of theprogram is free of charge and yourcase will generally be heard within40 days. If you do not agree withthe decision given in your case, youmay reject it and proceed with anyother venue for relief availableto you.

State Warranty Enforcement Laws 31

Laws in many states permit ownersto obtain a replacement vehicle or arefund of the purchase price undercertain circumstances. Theprovisions of these laws vary fromstate to state. To the extent allowedby state law, GMC requires that youfirst provide us with writtennotification of any service difficultyyou have experienced so that wehave an opportunity to make anyneeded repairs before you areeligible for the remedies provided bythese laws. 32 Warranty Information for California Only

California Civil Code Section1793.2(d) requires that, if GMC orits representatives are unable torepair a new motor vehicle toconform to the vehicle's applicableexpress warranties after areasonable number of attempts,GMC shall either replace the newmotor vehicle or reimburse thebuyer the amount paid or payableby the buyer. California Civil CodeSection 1793.22(b) creates apresumption that GMC has had areasonable number of attempts toconform the vehicle to its applicableexpress warranties if, within18 months from delivery to the buyeror 18,000 miles on the vehicle'sodometer, whichever occurs first,one or more of the following occurs:

. The same nonconformity resultsin a condition that is likely tocause death or serious bodilyinjury if the vehicle is drivenAND the nonconformity hasbeen subject to repair two ormore times by GMC or itsagents AND the buyer or lessee

has directly notified GMC of theneed for the repair of thenonconformity.

. The same nonconformity hasbeen subject to repair four ormore times by GMC or itsagents AND the buyer hasnotified GMC of the need for therepair of the nonconformity.

. The vehicle is out of service byreason of repair nonconformitiesby GMC or its agents for acumulative total of more than30 calendar days after deliveryof the vehicle to the buyer.
