Chapter 1 Overview
1.1 Safety Instructions
Do not operate the ultrasound imaging system until you fully understand the safety
considerations and procedures presented in this manual.
1.1.1 Symbols

1.1.3 Biohazard Considerations
When using the system, please pay attention to the following biosafety-related points:
Caution: For neonatal head imaging, Landwind recommends that you exercise
special care during neonatal cephalic scanning to avoid possible damage to the
posterior region of the eye. The ultrasound energy emitted by the probe easily

penetrates the fontanels of the infant.
Caution: Landwind makes every effort to manufacture safe and effective probes.
You must take all necessary precautions to eliminate the possibility of exposing
patients, operators, or third parties to hazardous or infectious materials. These
precautions should be considered in the use of any application that may indicate the
need for such care, and during endocavity scanning; during biopsy or puncture
procedures; or hen scanning patients with open wounds.
Caution: To eliminate the possibility of exposing patients, operators, or third parties
to hazardous or infectious materials, handle dangerous or infectious materials all
along according to the medical specifications for handling biohazard castoffs.
Caution: The assessment of biological effects of diagnostic ultrasound on humans is
a subject of ongoing scientific research. This system and all diagnostic ultrasound
procedures should be used for valid reasons, for the shortest period of time, and at
the lowest mechanical and thermal indices necessary to produce clinically acceptable
images.
Caution: To ensure the safety of examined patients, do not scan the same part of an
examined patient consecutively for a long period of time.
Caution: When making ultrasonic scanning, the instrument shall be used with
ultrasound coupling agent, and no biologic compatibility problem is found. However,
to ensure safety, only qualified ultrasound coupling agent in compliance with related
standard shall be used.
Caution: Do not use the system if irregular and unusual repeated video refreshes
occur. Discontinuous scanning frequency is a hardware fault, please remove it before
use.
1.1.4 Electrical Safety
The system is designed in line with the safety standard of EN 60601-1, and use Type B
isolation for the patient part. To ensure safety to the greatest extent, please pay attention

to the following Cautions:
Caution: Improper ground of the instrument may result in the danger of electric
shock. The only means to prevent electric shock is to use three-phase cable and
plug. The power cable shall be inserted into a grounded socket, and the ground
wire should not be moved away or removed.
Caution: Only cable hooks provided by Landwind can be used.
Caution: Do not attempt to modify the instrument. If it is really necessary to do so,
please notify us or our agent.
Caution: Operators of the instrument shall be qualified service-trained
professionals or shall use the instrument under the supervision of qualified
professionals.
Caution: To make electrical or mechanical connection between this instrument and
the equipment of other manufactures, confirm that it complied with the
IEC60601-1-1:1995 standard, and recheck the leakage current and other safety
indices of the entire set of system, to avoid possible hazard arising from leakage
current overlapping.
Caution:Upon the expiration of the service life of the system, please notify your
dealer or Landwind to handle properly.
Caution: To avoid electrical shock and damage to the ultrasound system, turn off
and unplug the equipment from the AC power outlet before cleaning and
disinfecting.
Caution: Do not open the enclosure of this unit, as some components inside it
carry high voltages that may cause hazards. If it is really necessary to do so, please
contact your dealer or Landwind to handle properly.
Caution: Do not use the instruments in an environment with combustible gases or
anesthetic to avoid explosions.

Caution: Do not pour any fluid onto the system surfaces, as fluid seepage into the
electrical circuitry may cause excessive leakage current or system failure.
Caution: This unit must be serviced once every 12 months to ensure its safety and
functionality. Electric safety test must be performed at periodic intervals according
to the local safety regulations or as needed.
Caution: To avoid the possibility of static shock and damange to the instrument,
avoid the use of aerosol spray cleaners on the monitor screens.
Caution: The power supply of the instrument can only be connected to a special
power inteface. Never connect an unspecified device to the port of this instrument.
Pay attention to correct connection of the grounding wire; otherwise, electric shock
may easily occur.
Caution: Do not use the system in damp or wet environments. Keep it away from
inflammables and explosives.
Caution: First check this unit and its parts every time before you use it. Timely
replace any components with sign of damage.
Caution: Use the probe with care. Do not use damaged probes. Do not use probes
with cracks or surface crimps, since such probes might have their insulation
damaged ,which easily causes electric shock to patients.
1.1.5 Electromagnetic compatibility
Portable Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner has passed the tests that confirmed its
compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements of IEC
60601-1-2:2001+A1:2004. It is CISPR 11: Group 1 Class А.
Caution: Special EMC requirements are imposed on medical equipment. The
following should be taken into account when installing and operating such
equipment.
Strong electromagnetic fields induced over the air or the wires by portable and mobile
communication devices or powerful sources of radio-frequency emission can cause

failures in Portable Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner operation. Such failures are
manifested in impaired quality of ultrasound images produced by the system or in
distortion thereof, in distortion of measurement results, instability of the system operation
and other abnormal manifestations.
In the event that such disturbance is detected when operating the system, its source shall
be localized and the following measures shall be taken.
— To detect the disturbance source, disconnect the nearby devices and turn them on
again.
— Having detected the interference-emitting device, relocate or re-orient it.
— Increase the separation distance between the interference emitting device and
Portable Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner .
— Do not use the equipment with operating frequencies close to frequencies of Portable
Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner.
— The personnel in charge of monitoring the medical devices shall be trained to identify
potential problems associated with electromagnetic emission.
— Use of cellular phones and computers shall be restricted in the areas where
interference-sensitive devices are located.
— Electromagnetic emission shall be removed or eliminated technically, for example,
through shielding.
Caution: Use of probes, cables and accessories other than stated in the operational
documentation can entail RF emission enhancement or degradation of Portable
Ultrasound Diagnostic Scanner stability.
Declaration:
All cables, probes and other accessories, whose compliance with requirements of IEC
60601-1-2:2001+A1:2006 36.201 – EMISSION and 36.202 –IMMUNITY is declared by
the manufacturer.

1.2.3 Probes
Multi-frequency capability is available for all imaging probes. You can connect two probes
to the ultrasound imaging system, with one probe being the active probe. The
configuration of probes depends on your purchase contract.

1.3 Equipment Installation and Debugging
1.3.1 Power Connection
This section describes how to connect the 100-240V~ 50/60Hz power supply for the unit.
Please ensure a stable power supply for the equipment. The power interface card is
located on the back of the instrument. Check the power supply of the unit to ensure that it
is within the specified range. Connect one end of the power cable to the power input jack
(8) (see Figure 1-4), and the other to the power supply.
Caution: Do not connect any device to the external power outlet on your own.
Caution: Confirm the power voltage is the same as the nominal voltage of the
instrument before connection.
Caution: This instrument adopts two fuses. Do not change fuses on your own;
otherwise, it may cause the danger of electric shock.
This equipment includes two other fuses, which are only used by professional
equipment maintenance personnel.
1.3.2 Probe Connection
Operating procedure;
1. Turn the probe’s latch to the open position and plug the probe into the slot
(Figure 1-6).
2. Turn the latch clockwise to the locked position.

Caution: Before probe connection, check whether latch is in open position. Do not
insert or pull out the connector in switch-on status to avoid damage to the probe.
Once the probe is connected the main unit, do not insert or pull out it at will.
Caution: Never force a probe into place. If you feel any resistance, reposition the
probe connector and try again.
Caution: Before disconnecting a probe, be sure to open the connector by turning the
latch to the open position.
1.3.3 Probe Bracket, Cable Hook and Gel Cup Installation

the position bore and locked, shown as follow:

1.3.4 Installation Environment
The instrument shall be installed in a stable place far from electric fields, devices with
strong magnetic fields and high-voltage devices. Avoid direct sunlight on the monitor
screen and keep a dark indoor environment to facilitate in image observation.
Furthermore, keep a ventilated and dustproof environment.

2.1 System Controls
2.1.1 Routine functional keys
Trackball
It is the main tool of screen interface and is for selection and location. Trackball can be
used in conjunction with other keys, when the machine is in different states, the trackball
has different functions. Under normal circumstances, trackball controls the cursor position.
Set
It is a Multi-function key, used in conjunction with the trackball. Its function changes in the
different state automatically, such as setting the cursor location, positioning location map,
noting the location or selecting menu item, increasing the parameter value.
Exit
Exit the current operation mode. It also used to switch the endpoints in DiST-LINE and Ellipse measurement.
FREEZE
Freeze or unfreeze image

Gain
It is a Multi-function key which can adjust the total gain of the system, switch the input
method and measurement items and turn page to view the measurement results.
Adjust the time gain compensation

Note on EMC: Using this instrument in strong electromagnetic areas near radio stations or
similar units may cause visual interference upon the monitor screen. However, after
proper design and test, the instrument can withstand similar interferences without any
permanent damage.
2.2.2 Monitor adjustment
After starting the instrument, adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor or you may
make such adjustment during check at any time. For detailed adjustment, refer to 3.8.1
section.

Chapter 3 Instrument Operating
3.1 Precautions
Make sure that the AC power connector plug for the ultrasound system is a three-prong
grounded plug, and ensure that the AC power in the plug is 100-240V~ 50/60Hz.
Check all power suppliers and connection cables to make sure no such damage as
scratch and breakage.
Check the probes and connecting parts to make sure no such damage as scratch and
desquamate.
Illustrations are added in appropriate places of this chapter, and please note that the
actual product shall apply if the details of illustrations differ from the actual product.
3.2 Turning the System on
Make sure that one end of the power cable is inserted into the power input jack on the
power interface card (refer to Figure 1-4) of the instrument, and the other end is inserted
into the AC power jack. Turn on the main power switch (for its position, refer to Figure 1-4.
Press to turn on, and press to turn off), the system startup screen appears. The
system shows the main screen, displaying B-mode images as default (as shown in Figure
3-12).
Please check whether the instrument is started normally, and check the images and
operation panel to make sure there is no abnormality. If no fault occurs, apply coupling
agent on the transmission surface of the probe, and make preparation for patient
examination.
Caution: Please stop operation if any fault is found, and contact your supplier for
troubleshooting.
Caution: Black boot time is about 30 seconds to respond, which is a normal
phenomenon, please be patient.

Caution: To ensure long-term stable and reliable work of the instrument, do not turn
on the instrument immediately after power-off. Please wait for at least one minute.
3.3 System Settings
System Settings are used to set the power-on operating environment, status, and
configuration parameters of different examination modes. Preset values are saved in the
memory of the machine so that it will not get lost upon power failure and will ensure the
system runs at the expected state each time when powered on. Reset default setting can
restore the parameters in factory.
Press the 【Setup】 key on the keyboard to access the system settings. The system
settings dialog is displayed on the screen, and the General Settings menu appears by
default, as shown in Figure 3-1.
Setting items in the dialog include General Settings, Measurement Settings, Image
Processing Settings and Version information.

3.3.1 General Settings
General Settings include Date And Time, Time Format, TGC Autohide, Default Port, Cine
Playback Speed, Hospital Name, System Language, System Environment, Network
Status, Exam Settings, Report mode and Biopsy Settings.
3.3.1.1 Setting Date And Time
Move cursor to Date And Time item, and then press the 【Set】 key to click it, then the
time setting screen appears. After adjusting system time, press to save setting
and press (or press【Setup】key) to exit the system setting.

3.3.1.6 Setting Hospital Name
Move cursor to the hospital name setting item, and then press the【Set】key to click it.
Input a name in the hospital name text box. English is the default language. After inputting
hospital name, press to save setting and press (or press【Setup】key)
to exit the system setting.

3.3.1.7 Choosing System Language
The system supports two language modes: English and Chinese. The detail is the same
as 3.3.1.2 section.
3.3.1.8 Modifying Network Status
Move cursor to the network setting item, and then press the 【Set】key to click it. The
screen will appear shown as Figure 3-5. Setting network according to your actual need,
and then press to save setting and press (or press【Setup】key) to
exit the system setting.

3.3.1.9 Exam Settings
The system supports the exams including Abdomen, Gynecology, Obstetrical, Small Part,
Orthopaedy, Urology and Emergency. After choosing, the system will initialize the current
selected examination type which is the default exam when you restart the system.

The system supports two report modes: Conventional Report and Specialist Report. The

3.3.1.11 Biopsy Settings
In this menu, you can set the biopsy direction, start point, biopsy angle and depth prompt.

3.3.2 Measurement Settings
Measurement Settings includes Meas Setup, EFW Formula, HR Cycles and GA
Referance (see Figure 3-7).
Operation procedures:
1. Move the cursor to the (▼) and press the 【Set】 key to choose the default
measurement method.
2. After choosing, move the cursor to the button to save setting.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 if you want to amend other items. Press the button or
【Setup】key if you want to exit measurement menu.

3.3.3 Setting Image Processing
Image Processing Settings can preset IP values. The items include Dynamic Range
(30-150dB, with a step of 6dB), Frame correlation (0-7 adjustable), M Scan Speed (0-3
adjustable), Edge Enhance (0-6 adjustable), Line Density (0 -2), witch is shown in Figure
3-8.

3.4 Selecting Probe and Frequency
3.4.1 Selecting Probe
Two ports and names of corresponding probes info is shown in the probe info area. The
current port is highlight, and its work frequency is shown.
Press 【Probe】to switch probes connected to the system. When first pressing it, switch
the current port to another port. Every time pressing it again, switch the current port to
another port. If another port doesn’t have a probe, it will not switch.
When the system is connected to two probes, select probe port activated when start up by
system setting. Please refer to 3.3.1.4 section.
3.4.2 Selecting Frequency
Operating procedures is as follows:
1. Under real-time status, press the 【Menu】key and the main menu will be displayed in
nether left of the screen.
2. Move the cursor or rotate【Gain】knob to select the PROBE FREQ menu item.

3.7 Switch Image Mode
The system provides five scanning modes: B, 2B, 4B, B/M and M. Press the image-mode

The operating procedure is as follows:
1. Press the 【2B】key, and a B-mode image appears on the left of the screen (See
Figure 3-13(a)).
2. Press the【2B】key again to activate the right of the screen, and the screen displays
two B-mode images in parallel. Where, the left one is a frozen image, and the right
one is a real-time image. “L” symbol appears on the upper part of a real-time image
(See Figure 3-13(b)).
3. You can continuously press the【2B】key to switch between these two images.
4. Under real-time status, press【Depth Up】or【Depth Down】key to adjust the depth
of real-time images;

5. Press the【FREEZE】key to freeze an image, and press the【FREEZE】key again to
unfreeze the image;

Figure 3-14). Only one image is in real time at the same time.
2. Press the 【4B】 key for four times, the screen will display four B-mode images in
parallel, including one real-time image, and other three frozen images. “L” symbol
appears on the upper part of the real-time image.
3. In the 4B mode, press the【4B】key repeatedly to switch over between the four images.
4. Press the 【FREEZE】 key to freeze an image, and press the【FREEZE】key again
to unfreeze the image.

5. In real-time mode, press the mode switching key in a mode instead of the 4B mode
can switch to another mode.
3.7.4 B/M Mode
Under real-time status, press the 【B/M】key to switch to BM-mode images.
Operating procedure:
1. Pressing the 【B/M】key continually, up B down M, left B right M and single M modes
will appear(shown as figure 3-15). A dotted line (i.e., sampling line) appears in the
B-mode imaging area. You may use the trackball to move the sampling line; the
M-mode displays the movement of the tissue on the sampling line in this position.
2 Press the 【FREEZE】 key to freeze the B-mode and M-mode images at the same
time, and press the 【FREEZE】key once again to unfreeze the B-mode and M-mode
images.
3 The system provides four scanning speeds (0-3). Press 【Menu】key to enter the main
menu and setting it in the M Mode scanning speed menu (Refer to 3.8.13 section).
4 In the real-time status, press the mode switching key instead of the B/M mode can
switch to another mode.

Rotate the brightness dial to appropriate brightness. Too bright result in weak
contrast, and too dark result in misty image.
Rotate the contrast dial to appropriate contrast. For clear profile, the contrast
shall be bigger; but for features of objects ,it shall be small.

3.8.2.1 Adjusting the Total Gain
Adjust the 【Gain】 knob to control the total gain of the entire image to obtain satisfying
images. Clockwise rotation may increase the gain, and anticlockwise rotation may
decrease the gain. You cannot adjust gain in freezing status.
The total gain ranges from 0 dB to 100 dB, with the minimum adjustable step of 5. The
gain value directly appears on the upper part of the screen. When checking 2B or 4B
Mode with many images, it will only display the value of activated image.
3.8.2.2 Adjusting the TGC
To compensate for weak signals or over-bright signals at various depths, you can adjust
Time Gain Compensation (TGC) using the TGC slide controls. The TGC provides six slide
controls for adjusting image quality under real-time status.
Use the system presets to turn on the display of the TGC curve. The curve provides an
on-screen representation of the TGC settings.(Refer to 3.3.1.3 section)
In B/M-mode, TGC adjustments affect both the B-mode image and the M-mode sweep.
The TGC slide controls have no effect during freezing.
To adjust the TGC slide controls: Move a slide control to the right to increase a setting or
to the left to decrease a setting.
3.8.3 Changing the Dynamic Range
You can adjust the overall contrast resolution of a B-mode image and the overall contrast
resolution of an M-mode sweep. For B-mode and M-mode, the dynamic range values are
30 dB to 150 dB with a step of 6dB. The dynamic range value displays in the imaging
parameters area at the top of the screen. In 2B mode or 4B mode with more than one
image, the value displays only for the active image.

1. Under real-time status, press the 【Menu】key, and the main menu appears on the
lower part of the screen.
2. Move the track ball to place the cursor on the option DYNAMIC RANGE; Press the
【Set】 key to set parameter values or use the 【Gain】 knob to adjust parameters,
and press 【Gain】 knob to choose it.
3. Adjust parameter by 【Gain】 knob.
4. Press 【Menu】key and it will disappear. Directly exit the adjustment status or move
the cursor to the EXIT option and then press 【Set】 to exit.
3.8.4 Frame Correlation
The frame correlation adjustment involves superposing and averaging B-mode images in
neighboring frames to eliminate noise from the images and produce clearer image details.
The frame correlation range is from 0 to 7, totaling 8 levels. 0 means no frame correlation,
while 7 means the largest frame correlation. The current frame correlation value is also
displayed on the menu item.
Operating procedure:
1. Under real-time status, press the 【Menu】key, and the main menu appears on the
lower part of the screen.
2 Move the track ball to place the cursor on the option FRAME CORR. Press the 【Set】
key or press 【Gain】 knob to choose it.
3 Adjust parameter by rotating【Gain】 knob.
4 Press 【Menu】key or move the cursor to the EXIT option and then press 【Set】to
close menu.
3.8.5 Edge Enhancement and Image Smoothing
Edge enhancement highlights image profile so that the border of tissue structure of an
image can be displayed more clearly, while image smoothing has the reverse effect.

consequently displaying high density, middle density and low density image. Increasing
density could improve image detail, but decrease frame rate.
Density sign differentiates high, middle and low density. H means high density, M means

middle density, and L means low density.
3.8.8 Adjusting Focus
The system includes 64 groups of focus combinations. Each focus combination comprises
different positions and number of focuses. The focus control keys(【Focus Up】or 【Focus
Down】) and numeric keys(【5】or 【6】)can be used to adjust image focus. Under B mode
real-time status, focus adjustment brings clearer images in the target area. In B/M mode
and single M mode, the system does not support multi-focus.
Increasing the number of focus can gain higher resolution in different depth, at the same
time; the number of focus can affect frame rate of the image: the more focus ,the lower
frame rate.
For visual display, the focus display mode on the screen is displayed on the left or right of
the vertical scale line by the or symbol.
Operating procedure:
Under real-time status, press numeric keys【5】or【6】to decrease or increase the
number of focus. The range is from 1 to 4. When overstep this step, pressing 【5】
or【6】 will not change the number. B/M Mode has only one focus.
Under real-time status, press【Focus up】and【Focus down】can adjust the position
of the focus. Every kind of focus number can have 16 kinds of focus combination.
When the focus is in the highest or lowest position, press this key again, the position
of the focus will keep the same.
3.8.9 Adjusting imaging depth
Increase or decrease imaging depth by【Depth Up】and【Depth Down】.
3.8.10 Adjusting image width
The system provides images with four steps width.

3.8.12 Image Zoom
Single B mode images under real-time status have zoom function. Measurement,
annotation, body-mark are available in the zoomed image.
Operating procedure:
1. Pressing【Zoom】key or pressing【4】key, the zoom frame will appear.
2. Rotate 【Gain】knob to adjust the size of the zoom frame (two sizes available) so as
to magnify the image twice or three times.
3. Move the trackball to place zoom frame in the concerned area of the image.
4. Press 【Zoom】key or press【4】key to zoom selected area.
5. Press 【Zoom】key or press【4】key to exit zoom mode.
3.8.13 Changing the M Sweep Speed
The system provides four kinds of scanning speed: 0-3. 0 expresses the lowest speed,
while 3 expresses the fastest speed. The detail refers to 3.8.3 section.
3.8.14 Harmonic Imaging
The function of Harmonic Imaging is available for low-frequency probe (The system
supports the probe of 35C60H.). The detail refers to 3.8.3 section.

3. Press 【Set】key to confirm entering an arrow.

3.10 Body Markers
Markers are graphics that display on-screen to indicate the anatomical structure under
evaluation and to indicate the orientation of the probe to the structure. Every examination
subject will have fixed body markers.
Operating procedure:
1. Press 【Mark】key to activate body markers function. Corresponding body markers
will be displayed on the bottom of the screen.
2. Select body marker using numeric keys 【1~8】. If there are more than eight body
markers, pressing numeric key 【9】can turn to next page, while 【0】 to the previews
page. A small pictograph like probe will be displayed on the screen.

3.11 Biopsy Guideline
Caution: Needle biopsy is highly dangerous for both patients and operating
doctors. The use of puncture rack and its accessories shall strictly follow the correct
needling sequence to avoid unnecessary risks to patients.
Caution: The biopsy guideline displayed on the equipment monitor is for reference
only. During biopsy, aspiration, puncture and related operations, the user shall
confirm the correct needling position.
Caution: Biopsy, aspiration and puncture are intervention operations with high
risks. Operators shall strictly stick to the principle of operation of sterilization.
The biopsy guideline is used to help the operator to move the probe to an appropriate

position during puncture operation so that the end of the probe with the puncture rack is
located in the ideal needling position. The biopsy guideline can only be used under
real-time status.

3.12 CINE
During B mode real-time imaging, the system places the most recently acquired images
as well as image currently on screen into a CINE memory buffer. This memory buffer can
store 512 frames. Film indicator will be displayed on right bottom of the image, which tells
us current frame and saved frame number.
Operating procedure:
1. Press 【Cine】key or 【FREEZE】key to enter CINE mode under real-time status.
2. Rotate 【Gain】knob to play forward or backward manually.
3. Press 【Gain】key to play automatically, and press 【Gain】key again to stop.
4. Press 【FREEZE】key again to exit CINE mode, and enter real-time image status.

Chapter 4 Measurements and Reports
4.1 Overview of measurement
The system provides the operation methods with general measurement (B-mode general
measurement, M-mode general measurement), and special measurement (abdominal
measurement, obstetrical measurement, orthopedics measurement, urology
measurement and small parts measurement).
4.1.1 Special Measurement Menu
The system’s special measurement is equipped with a special measuring menu. Take the
obstetrics measurement menu as an example to introduce the use of the special
measurement menu.

In special measurement mode, press【2】key to enter obstetrics measurement menu, as
shown in Figure 4-1. Move cursorl and move the cursor to a measurement item, then
press【Set】key. If the there is logo on the item, you can enter the sub-menu; if there’s
not, you can enter the appropriate measurement mode. Choose RETURN to return the

main menu of obstetrics. Choose EXIT to exit the main menu of obstetrics.
4.1.2 Measurement Results
Measuring results are displayed on the left side of the screen. If there are more measuring
information, the arrow will appear to carry out instructions. In measurement condition, you
can use 【Gain】knob to turn the page up and down to view the measuring results, as
shown in Figure 4-2.

4.1.3 Measurement Report
The measurement report is used to record the measurement results. A measurement
report contains the report name, patient information, measurement and calculation results,
doctor diagnosis and more. The user can edit and print measurement reports. This system
provides general measurement report and exam-specific measurement report.
The exam-specific measurement reports include gynecological report, obstetrical report,
orthopedic report, urological report and small report.

4.2 General measurement — B-mode
The B-mode includes distance measurement, area/perimeter measurement, volume
measurement, angle measurement and histogram function.
Under real-time status, press 【Meas】key into the general measurement, or press
【FREEZE】key, and then press the numeric key 【5】 to enter the general measurement,
as shown in Figure 4-4.

4.2.1 Distance Measurement
Distance measurement is representative of the measurement on B-mode.
Press the numeric key【1】to enter the distance measurement mode. repeatedly pressing
【1】key can switch over between two measurement modes: line and trace.

Caution: An image can be measured four times at maximum, with different cursor

4.2.1.2 DIST-TRACE Measurement
Function: Calculate the distance manually with the trackball.

4.2.2 Area/CIRC Measurement

Function: The trace measurement is used to measure the area and circumference
manually with the trackball.

4.2.5 Histogram Measurement
Function: Calculate the gray distribution of ultrasonic echo signals in the specified region.
Measure the interest region by using rectangle and show the results by histogram.

1. Press the number key【5】into the histogram measurement mode, at this time
a “+” cursor appear in the center of the screen;
2. Move the trackball and press 【Set】key to determine an acme of a rectangle;

4. Press【Set】to determine the vertex of the rectangle diagonally, and determine
the histogram measurements region. The histogram results show in the
middle of the screen;

4.3 General measurement — M-mode
M-mode general measurement includes distance, time, slope and heart rate
measurements in B/M mode or single M mode real-time state. First press 【Meas】key,
then press number key 【4】 into M mode general measurement, or first press【FREEZE】
key, and then press numeric keys 【5】and【4】into the M mode general measurement.

4.3.1 Distance
Function: Measure the vertical distance between the two points in M mode image.
Measurement:
1. Repeatedly press【4】key to switch over distance measurement mode, at this

2. Using the trackball to move the “-” cursor to the starting point of the
measurement, and press【Set】key, then the starting point for measuring
shows the baseline and the short horizontal line marker “-”, at this time, the

display on the left of the screen;
3. Move the cursor up and down to the end of measurement, press 【Set】key,
and the final result shows on the left of the screen. The system automatically
enters the next measurement;
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 to continue distance measurement, at most 4 groups.
5. Press【Clear】key to clear measurement data and exit this mode.

Function: Measure the time interval between two points of the image in M mode.

2. Move the long-dashed line with Trackball to the starting point of the

measurement, at the same time, the second long-dashed line appears on the
screen;
3. Move the cursor with Trackball, and the real-time measurement result will be
displayed on the bottom of the screen. Move the cursor to the end of the
measurement, and press【Set】key, then the final measurement results show
on the left of the screen. The system automatically enter the next
measurement after this measurement;
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 to continue the time measurement, at most 4 groups;

4.3.3 Slope
Function: Calculate the slope between two points by measuring their time and distance in
M mode.

4.3.4 Heart rate
Function: Measure the time interval between N times HR Cycle in M mode, and calculate
the number of heartbeats per minute.
Measurement:
1. Press【5】key into the heart rate measurement mode, at this time a long –dashed
broken line appears on the screen;
2. Use the trackball to move the long-dashed broken line to the starting point of the
measurement, press 【Set】key, where will display measurement base line and another
long-dashed line. At this time, the cursor can only be moved left and right, and the
measurement result will appear on the left of the screen real-time.

3. Move the cursor left and right to the end point of the measurement, press【Set】key,
and the final measurement result will appear on the left of the screen. After the
measurement, the system will enter next measurement automatically.

4.4 Gynecology Measurements
This section describes the system of the Gynecological measurement functions, including
Uterus (length, width, depth, endometrium), cervix (length, width, depth), the left ovary
(length, width, depth), the right ovary (length, width, depth), left-follicle (left-follicle1,
left-follicle2, left-follicle3, left-follicle4), right-follicle (right-follicle1, right-follicle2,
right-follicle3, right-follicle4).
Gynecology measurement only works in the B mode; there are two methods to enter the
Gynecology measurement, as follows:

4.5 Obstetrics Measurements
This section describes the system of the obstetrics measurement function, including OB
measurements, AFI, FHR, NT, OB input, biophysical profile score and so on.
There are two methods to enter the obstetrics measurement, as follows:
In real-time state, press【Calc】key to enter the special measurement, and then
press 【2】key to open the menu of obstetrics measurement;
In real-time state, press 【FREEZE】 and【 6】 key to enter the special
measurement, and then press【 2】 key to open the menu of obstetrics

4.5.1 Obstetrics Input
Obstetrics input items include the last menstrual period(calendar), the date of
ovulation(calendar), the number of pregnancies, the number of partition and the number
of abnormal pregnancies.
The data of delivery have been calculated from the last menstrual period and the date of
ovulation.
Operating procedure:
Click button to open the date choosing box (see Figure 4-28).
Click the triangle icons on the to choose year, and click the triangle icons

Move cursor and press 【Set】to choose day.

4.5.2 Fetus Selection
This system can measure up to 6 fetuses. After typing the number of fetus in the obstetrics
input box, the serial numbers of fetus can be switch in the fetus changing box. Choose to
enter the measurement of the fetus, and the serial number of the fetus is displayed on the
left side of the screen. Fetus No.1 is the default measurement .

Fetal heart rate can only be measured in the B/M or M mode. For the measurement

4.5.6 Neck Transparency
The measurement method of neck transparency (NT) is distance measurement in B mode,
referring to Section 4.2.1.
4.5.7 Fetal physiology score
Fetal physiology score is on the basis of the fetal ultrasound images, experiment or
measurement methods to get the fetal development indicators, and then speculate the
state of the fetus by a certain standard score.
The system provides criteria, which is based on the “Vintzileos” formula, as shown in
Table 4-3. Table 4-4 gives the description of the total score.

4.7 Urology Measurements
This section describes the system of the Urology measurement function, including
prostate volume (length, width, and depth), residual urine volume (length, width, depth)
and PSAD measurement. The prostate volume and residual urine volume can only be
measured on the B mode.

4.7.1 PSAD Measurement
The value of PSAD (serum prostate specific antigen density) can be calculated by PSA
( serum prostate specific antigen) and prostate volume. Firstly, Input the value of PSA in
urology PSA input box, then measure the prostate volume with the methods described in
section 4.7.2. Finally, the system automatically calculates the value of PSAD, and the
result is displayed on the left side of the screen.

4.7.2 Prostate Volume Measurement
It is to measure prostate length, width and depth, and then the system automatically
calculates the volume of the prostate. The method is the distance measurement (refer to
Section 4.2.1).

Chapter 5 Cleaning and Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Caution: Please turn off the power before cleaning the unit; otherwise, it may
cause electric shock and equipment damage.
Caution: Avoid any fluid from entering the keyboard or monitor of the equipment;
otherwise, it may cause electric shock or equipment damage.
5.1.1 Cleaning the Main Unit
To clean the surface of the ultrasonic diagnosis system:
1. Power off the ultrasound system and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Use a clean gauze pad or lint-free cloth, lightly moistened with a mild
detergent, to wide the surface of the ultrasound system. Take particular care
to clean the areas near the trackball and the slide controls. Ensure these
areas are free of gel and any other visible residue.
3. After cleaning, use a clean, lint-free cloth to dry the surface.
4. After cleaning, reconnect the ultrasound system to the power supply.
To clean the surface of probe bracket and coupling agent cup:
Use neutral cleaning agent to clean the surfaces of the probe brackets and
coupling agent cup, and then use a piece of lint-free cloth to dry them.
To clean the cables and connector of the diagnosis system:
Use neutral cleaning agent to clean the surfaces of the probe brackets and
coupling agent cup, and then use a piece of lint-free cloth to dry them.

5.1.2 Cleaning the Probe
Caution: To avoid electrical shock and damage to the system, disconnect the
probe prior to cleaning or disinfecting.
Caution: Ensure surfaces of the probe are always disinfected during procedures
requiring disinfection.
Caution: To minimize the risk of cross contamination and infectious diseases,
clean and disinfect the transducer for entocoele and surgical operations thoroughly
after use each time.
Caution: The outer surfaces of an endocavity or intraoperative probe should be
checked to ensure there are no unintended rough surfaces, sharp edges, or
protrusions that may cause a safety hazard.
Caution: Probes are sensitive devices——irreparable damage may occur if they
are dropped, knocked against other objects, cut, or punctured. Do not attempt to
repair or replace any part of a probe.
Caution: Do not use probe sheaths containing oil-based coatings or petroleum-or
mineral oil-based ultrasonic coupling agents. Use only water-based ultrasonic
coupling agent.
Caution: Take extreme care when handling or storing probes. They must not be
dropped, jarred, or knocked against other objects. Do not allow probes to come into
contact with any sharp-edged or po9inted object.
Caution: Do not sterilize probes using hot steam, cold gas, or Ethylene Oxide
(ETO) methods. Before applying any other methods which might be recommended
by manufacturers of sterilization equipment, please contact your supplier.
Caution: Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, organic solvents such as benzene,
isopropyl alcohol, or phenol-based substances, or cleaning agents containing
organic solvents to clean or disinfect probes. These substances can damage the
probes.

Caution: Do not use aerosol spray cleaner on the transducer, as the cleaner
liquid may enter the enclosure and damage the probe.
Operating procedure for probe cleaning and sterilization:
1. Disconnect the probe from the system..
2. Moisten a clean gauze pad with water and wipe the probe to remove any gel
or particles remaining on the probe. If water is not effective, you may use a
pre-enzyme cleaner
3. Carefully wipe the entire probe, including the cable and connector.
4. To disinfect the probe, take care to keep the cable strain relief and connector
of the probe dry while immersing the probe in an approved disinfectant.
5. Carefully follow the disinfectant manufacturer's instructions.
6. After cleaning or disinfecting, use a clean cloth to dry the probe.
5.2 Maintenance
Caution: To maintain the safety and functionality of the ultrasound system,
maintenance must be performed every 12 months. Electric safety test must be
performed at periodic intervals according to the local safety regulations or as needed.

5.2.1 Main Unit Maintenance
5.2.1.1 External Parts Maintenance
Complete the following each day before using the system:
Visually inspect all probes. Do not use a probe which has a cracked, punctured,
or discolored casing, or a frayed cable.
Visually inspect all power cables. Do not turn on the power if a cable is frayed or
split, or shows signs of wear. Contact your dealer for replacement of the power
cable if a cable is frayed or split, or shows signs of wear.
Verify that the trackball, TGC sliding controls, and other controls on the control
panel are clean and free from gel or other contaminants.
Once the system is powered on.
Visually check the on-screen displays and lighting.
Make sure the monitor displays the current date and time.
Verify that the probe identification and indicated frequency are correct for the
active probe.
5.2.1.2 Internal parts Maintenance
1. It should be established science institution. The Internal parts maintenance should be
based on the use of the environment on a regular, generally speaking, it should not
be less than twice a year, recommendations of the late spring and the Mid-Autumn
two seasons, as more humid in the spring, summer and early autumn are hot climate,
these equipments are vulnerable to adverse effects on.
2. Internal maintenance should be chaired by engineer authorized by Landwind, never
blind to open the cover to carry out maintenance.
3. In the implementation of internal maintenance, electricity is strictly prohibited, and
pulling the power plug system to ensure that equipment and personal safety.

4. Maintenance is completed, it is necessary to connect to the equipment and check
connector to prevent incorrect connections etc, electricity can confirmed after the
correct test machine.
5. Safeguard the process, pulled the prohibition of arbitrary changes to the wiring and
circuit parts of the location, do not free to spin the adjustable components.
6. Prohibit the use of washing internal parts, nor can of gasoline, kerosene and lacquer
thinner etc, to scrub the motor windings, commutator, as well as transformers,
plexiglass, cable and other rubber products. Alcohol and carbon tetrachloride on the
rubber, and other organic material has dissolved, and therefore can not be used to
scrub cables, rubber line, gelatin plate and mechanical spray paint, these organisms
can be used to dry the wet cloth to clean.
7. Connector on the gold-plated electrical contacts (or silver), it is strictly prohibited to
use gauze or other metal objects polished, and not in direct contact with their hands
in order to avoid corrosion caused by perspiration.
8. The proper use of tools in order to prevent the screw fixed as a result of damage to
the ultra-moment.
As manufacturers and installers of ultrasound equipment, Landwind cannot assume
responsibility for the safety properties, reliability, and/or performance of the equipment if:
Installations, extensions, readjustments, modifications, additions, or repairs are
carried out by persons not specifically authorized by Landwind.
Components that affect the safe operation of the system are replaced by parts
not authorized by Landwind.
The electrical installation of the room where the equipment is located does not
meet the power and environment requirements specified in this manual.
The equipment is not used in accordance with the operation instructions.
The system is operated by persons who do not receive good education or

Landwind suggests that you request any person that performs maintenance, or repairs, to
provide you with a certificate showing:

5.2.2 Caring Probe

Do not store coupling agent below 5°C nor above 57°C. Coupling agent have a limited
shelf life. Before use, examine these products for any material flaws. Some packaging
may list an expiration date. Any product showing flaws, or whose expiration date has
passed, should not be used.

Only the peripheral devices listed in the operation instructions are approved to use with

6.3.2 System Transport
When shipping the system, perform the following tasks, as appropriate.
To prepare the system for shipment over long distances or rough road:
Disconnect the probe first, and then disconnect the power cable and some
peripherals;
Repackage the system with the delivery-attached packages;
Please fix the system properly to avoid side movement of the system during
transport;
To prevent sudden jarring of the system during transport, provide shock cushions
beneath the system.
6.3.3 Probe Transport
Disconnect the probe from the system.
Place the probe correctly back into the probe box which is specially designed to
protect the probe. Do not dispose it.
6.4 Disposal of Packing Materials
Please properly keep all internal and external packing materials of the instrument
for future transportation and movement.
