Cable Exchange with wash-over-technology The energy suppliers are increasingly being ordered to replace unused or damaged ground cables against new ones. It is normal that ground cables get older and wear, as is the necessity to exchange them. To make sure that the exchange of old cables is pro- ductive, a simple and economical method is required. The TT HDD-bore technology offers with the so-called wash-over-heads the possibility of a trenchless removal or exchange of cables. Method process: The wash-over-head is guided over the old cable, which is separated inside the starting pit. Through permanent swinging movements from left to right, the drill rod is driven over the old cable at a speed of 1-2 meters per minute. The TT-wash-over-head is constructed, so that it follows the path of the old cable. The old cable acts as a compelled guidance for the wash-over-head, which cuts free the soil/ sand bedding and possible roots in a narrow ring without any contact, at an equal distance around the old cable. The old cable, which has been cut free can be easily drawn out of the ground with a cable winch or excavator subsequently. In an intermediate pit the wash-over- head threads out, but immediately connects with the next cable. Cable Exchange with wash-over-technology

The energy suppliers are increasingly being ordered to replace unused or damaged ground cables against new ones. It is normal that ground cables get older and wear, as is the necessity to exchange them.

To make sure that the exchange of old cables is pro-ductive, a simple and economical method is required. The TT HDD-bore technology offers with the so-called wash-over-heads the possibility of a trenchless removal or exchange of cables.

Method process:The wash-over-head is guided over the old cable, which is separated inside the starting pit.

In an intermediate pit the wash-over-head threads out, but immediately connects with the next cable. In the

path made free the new cable fitted with a cable

protection sleeve or cable shoe can be drawn-in with the drill rod and parallel to the pipe, which is already situated inside the borehole.

Starting phase: The cable is now laying inside the wash-over-head the wash-over-process can start. The free cut of encapsulated sandy ground is carried out with drilling fluid. The wash-over-head is con-structed, so that it does not make contact with the cable.

Advantages:• Trenchless construction with TT-HDD-technology• The old path is used in its actual state• A path-renewal with measurement, cadastral plan and approval are not required (savings the measuring costs)• High speed exchange; appr. 5 times quicker than open trenching• Optimal cable betting with betonite and other soft substances• Trees (Street-trees, avenues, parks), green spaces, Street- and side walk surfaces are kept intact and almost untouched• Work is done without attracting attention, low noise and quickly• Wash-over-lengths of 100 to max. 120 meters are possible• Reusing of old cable and copper veins• Also suitable for freeing any jammed drill rod • TT’s wash-over-head- technology is protected by several patents Sales exclusive for TT-Customers

The wash-over-head threads out in the intermediate pit, but immediately connects with the next cable.

Method process:

Cable drawn out

Drawing out the cable

The wash-over-head has reached its target. The cable is free and can now be drawn out with an excavator or similar unit.

Wash-over-head with flexi-piece ID 72 mm or ID 98 or with flexi-piece ID 135mm Type 1 SW-TD61 for cable, Protection pipes, fixed drill rod etc.

Also other sizes are available if required because of the large cable variety.
