Performance Data Guide
The data on the following pages has been derived from tests undertaken at a third party acous�c test facility in
accordance with BS 4856: Part 4: 1997 “Determina�on of sound power levels of fan coil units, unit heaters and
unit coolers using reverbera�on rooms”.
A standard 200Ø spigo:ed fan coil unit was mounted in Reverbera�on Room 1 then ducted with 1000mm long
solid circular galvanised sheet steel ducts to a dividing wall / plate and into Reverbera�on Room 2. If solid
ducts are replaced by flexible ducts the discharge sound power levels (Lw) will reduce by:

Tes0ng Procedure
Guide NR levels are based on a number of assumed parameters and a typical office installa�on. We have listed
these parameters below, should these parameters not be applicable for a par�cular applica�on, then a
detailed acous�c assessment will be required.

The Guide NR level assumes that a single fan coil unit will be installed within a 600mm deep ceiling void above
a room with the aforemen�oned characteris�cs, and serving 1000 x 100mm slot diffusers with 50% free area.
A correc�on to the Guide NR level should be made where more than one unit is present in a room space.
Return air grilles should be located at least 1.5m from the fan coil inlet.
Representa�ve guide NR levels can be provided for Pres�ge units, based on a typical hotel bedroom
applica�on.
