Priority 2 - Learning and Excellence Some students have been better able to progress in their learning in the remote and flexible learning environment, others have maintained their rate of progress, and some have, despite their best efforts and those of their families and teachers, not progressed in their learning. It will be important to meet all students at their point of need – both to support those who have not progressed in their learning to catch up and those who have progressed to continue to extend and stretch their learning. Literacy and numeracy across the curriculum will remain as a major focus, with teachers adapting their teaching and learning programs in Term 4 to be responsive to all student needs. Priority 3 - Transitions Term 4 is a critical period, particularly for the children moving from kindergarten into Prep and from Grade 6 into Year 7. A key focus for Term 4 will be to make every effort to ensure each of these end-of-year and beginning-of-year transitions occur as successfully as possible. This will include developing appropriate ways to conduct orientation sessions, end-of-year celebrations and ensuring transition information captures additional details as necessary. COVID 19 Advice for Parents, Carers and Guardians The most up to date coronavirus information relating to schools can be found on the Department of Education website. Please follow this link www.education.vic.gov.au/parents/Pages/coronavirus-advice-parents.aspx for further information. 2021 Enrolments Prep enrolments for next year are now being taken. Children must celebrate their fifth birthday by 30th April 2021 to be eligible for school. Due to our enrolment restrictions, we are unable to accept prep enrolments from families who live outside the Cairnlea estate. In closing, with the holidays so close, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of staying safe and being seen on and around our roads. Mark Mills Principal

Riding the Covid-19 Wave in Brimbank

The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken up the world and turned our lives upside down. It has affected us all, and all in different ways, changing how we live, work and socialise. Home has become work and school life has become remote. Countless people are feeling isolated from family and friends and financial struggles are real for many, while for others it has been a time for learning and growth inspired by creativity and innovation.

Brimbank Libraries are calling on the local community - those who live, work or study in Brimbank - to help shape history by sharing their experiences of the pandemic through images, writing or videos.

We are aiming to capture the voices, stories and experiences of our community at this moment in time.

A selection of these submissions will be collated for a virtual exhibition titled Riding the Covid-19 Wave in Brimbank.

Some prompts you may consider for your submission are:

How has your day-to-day life changed? Have you missed a significant life event? Are you still able to keep working or studying? How are you keeping connected with other people? Do you do things now that you never did before the pandemic? Have you been learning any new skills? What is life like for you right now?

Submissions are now open and can be uploaded through the Brimbank Libraries website. Let’s work together to foster a sense of belonging and shared experience, and please feel free to pass this invitation on to others in the community.

We look forward to hearing from you.
