A Word from our Sponsors

“Larry the Lobster”

Talks to return Larry the Lobster to his native club have broken down between LYC

and The Niagara Sailing Club. Unidentified operatives, presumably acting under the

direction of NSC officials, successfully took possession of Larry the Lobster during

LYC’s annual Lobster Broil. A very short portly man stepped forward taking heroic

measures to stop the barbaric operatives from carrying out their retrieval mission,

but was unsuccessful. Larry’s whereabouts are unknown at this time, but LYC

officials have issued a plea for his safe return. Unofficial intelligence has reported

that Larry has been seen wondering around the Bufflao International Airport in hopes

of getting asylum from Russian officials. They took Snowden, so why not Larry??????

As we use up the last of the boating season, it brings to light the difference it

makes to be a club member. While other boaters are saying goodbye to their

boating friends & their friends around the marina, LYC Members are just entering

the next phase of fellowship. We will work together, helping each other pull our

boats & set them up in the boatyard. Some of us will help Fleet Captain Mike Dal-

lessandro winterize the Marina. Rear Commodore Marty Houck & his committee

will get together to clean up the grounds for the fall. Vice Commodore Tim Phillips

will recruit members to complete the River Room improvements. What seems like

a lot of work turns out to be fun when we team up as a club. Contact one of our

officers to be a part of making LYC work. I know you’ve heard it from me before,

but it’s worth repeating, you’ll make lifelong friends rubbing elbows with your fel-

low members on a rewarding project that you can always say: “I did that!”

Everyone’s looking forward to the Red Flannel Cruise this year. In an effort to make the event accessible

to all members, our Fleet Captain is holding it at the Tonawanda canal wall. Easier to take your boat &

easier to go by car, we’re expecting a much bigger turnout, so don’t miss it.

Make the most of your membership. Be a part of the Club. Spend a few hours at a work party. Sign up

for the events. Stop in & say “Hi”.

See you at the Club!

Vice Commodore Tim Phillips

Hello everyone,

The LYC is having another great summer with great parties, events and fun

things to do. Still to come we have our Red flannel cruise September 13th & 14th

with F/C Mike Dallessandro hosting, more events in October and the commodore’s

ball November 2nd. Hosted by myself and first mate Pam. This will be a fun event

filled with tradition you wont want to miss!

I would like to personally thank all those who helped out on the lobster broil and

pirate raffle, my first mate Pam who put it all together and everyone that helped

make this party a huge success. People like you, making a difference and lending a hand. Thank You!

Chef Dan, Bar Manager Judy, Waitress Supervisor Linda along with their staff have been doing a great

job serving up food and drinks for all occasions, whether it’s a quiet Friday night dinner or party of 180

The LYC Staff is happy to accommodate. Not sure how to get started? Give me a call or text at 628-9936

or email me at [email protected] and I will get you on course for a memorable evening.

If anyone is interested in becoming 2014 social director or fleet captain for LYC, these positions will be

opening soon. Now is the time to let me know so you can be considered. It is a great way to get involved

in LYC management and join the ranks of the many that have through the years have helped LYC

become what it is today.

See you at the club

I can't believe it's September already! Where has the summer gone? The Lobster Fest was a huge

success as always and another great time had by all!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our golf tournament this year, it was a beautiful day. No 5 1/2

inches of rain this time. Congratulations to our winners Chad Robertson, Pat Driscoll, Jim Faso and Pete

Campbell. It came down to a tiebreaker with last years winners. Larry Weatherstons team also scored a

-8. Great job guys!!! The other winners were: men's longest was drive Pat Driscoll and the women's

longest drive Joy Swanson. Men's closest to the pin was Rick Johnson and the Women's closest to the

pin Judy Walck. Thanks once again to all of our sponsors. We couldn’t do it without you!

The club will be closed on Labor Day. Make sure you come out on Sundays to watch the Bills games.

How can you beat $2 beers and 35 cent wings with an awesome view as well!

Baseball playoffs will be starting before you know it. We will continue to be open on Saturdays at noon

and update you on any changes. Thanks for great summer everyone! Thanks also for keeping those

reservations coming in.

Hope to see all of you soon! Judy

Fleet Captain Mike Dallessandro

Where has the summer gone? I know we still have some great fall weather to enjoy some additional outdoor and boating activities but when I start fueling school buses for opening day it is a reminder of the fact that the end of summer is near. I hope everybody has been enjoying the summer of 2013 at LYC, I know I certainly have so far. I think I have used my boat more this year than I have in the past 5 years or so and that's a good thing. Please mark your calendars for the weekend of September 13-15. The annual Red Flannel cruise will take place on the canal wall in the City of Tonawanda near the long homestead. I am sure this will shape up to be a fun weekend and many people will help out however so far I have to thank my wife Karen for coordinating the shirt order, P/C Tisack for coordinating the permit process for the location and Marty and Dave for agreeing to cook us some great meat on Saturday night. The sign up sheet is in the chart room so please come by land or sea at least for a few hours if you can.

Mike

Rear Commodore Marty Houck

Hello Fellow LYC Members!

What a unique summer we have had! Rain and cloudiness made many of our days questionable for boating, but all in all we can’t complain. When you’re around a great bunch of people, in or on the water, it doesn’t get better that that! Great job to V/C Tim Phillips and Pam Phillips for a great Lobster Broil. John and Renee Petrishin did a fantastic job for the Pirate’s Raffle too. Thanks for all the fun! I am pleased to announce that starting January 1, 2014, we will be emailing your monthly invoice. Please be sure that we have your current email address so we can get your monthly statement sent to you promptly. Emailing monthly statements to our membership will ensure that members receive their

statements in a timely fashion and will also provide a continued savings to our club. Payment methods for monthly charges will remain the same. As a reminder, you are always welcome to have a credit card on file so that we can charge your account automatically. I hope to see many of you at our Red Flannel event this year in Tonawanda. Changing the venue to the canal will hopefully allow families to attend and will also be a more accessible location for those coming by boat. Don’t miss the fun! Best wishes to all for a happy Back to School season!

Johnny: Hey, Mom, I got a hundred in school today! Mom: That’s great, honey ! In what subject ? Johnny: A 40 in Reading and a 60 in Spelling.

Thanks R/C Marty Houck
