Dear Parents

What a fabulous disco on Friday evening! Well done to

the P&F Coordinators, Stephanie Martin and Lisa

Rutherford and to the dashing DJ, Courtney Waller.

Student Councillors

theme and the music

content which really

helped them feel

involved.

A very big THANK YOU to the P&F Committee for the

allocation of funds towards the School’s Wish List items

during last Wednesday’s meeting. We really appreciate

your careful consideration of all the items and in

particular for your support of those resources closely

Numeracy intervention materials and the sustainability project areas of the Wax Wrap Incursion and our new

compost tumbler.

The photos below show you the almost completed

numeracy growth point packs that Trish Collins, our

EMU (Extending Mathematical Understanding) trained

teacher and classroom

teachers can ‘grab’ from the

resource room when working

on a particular numeracy

concept with a group of

students who require that

enrichment or development.

These photos show Student Councillors getting the new

compost tumbler organised on Friday and the P&F

President, Emma Taylor and Sustainability Committee

member, Romola Harney, checking it out after school

with their children.

Enjoy your week. I am on Long Service Leave in Port

Yr 3 Group Information Report - St John’s School Scarborough Introduction: St John’s School is a lovely friendly Catholic School. All the students and teachers are very caring to everyone. Guilds: There are four Guilds. They are called McBride, McAuley, Byrne and Dominic. We have some carnivals like the swimming and running carnivals. McBride is Red, McAuley is Blue, Byrne is Green and Dominic is Yellow. Uniforms: There are two types of uniforms, spor t uniform and normal uniform. The boys uniforms are a white shirt, dark blue pants and a tie in Winter. The girls uniform is a dark blue pinafore and a white shirt underneath, also a tie in Winter. Classrooms: All classrooms at St John’s School are very nice. Every classroom is very colourful and full of bright posters. The desks are not all in a row. We have standing up tables, hokki stools which are little wobbly chairs, a sofa and some normal desks. All the classrooms are very inviting. Teachers: At St John’s all the teachers are very kind. They have a smile on their face everyday that makes the kids smile. Summary: St John’s is very nice. Come some day! Totally epic! By Ella, Sunny, Imogen and Peter

Scitech Excursion - Year 5 On Tuesday as part of Science Week the Year 5 class had a day of science activities at Scitech. We learnt about light and how it can change form. We also travelled to outer space in the Planetarium, viewing the Planets and Constellations. We studied the machines on the general exhibit area and have written reports on a machine that interested us. We all had a wonderful, challenging day at Scitech.

Eco Faerie - Kindy What a beautiful way to spend a gorgeous afternoon learning about sustainability in an engaging, fun and energetic way. Eco Faerie highlighted the importance of using the correct bins for recycling, while engaging the children in song and dance routines that they can use at home to encourage re using shopping bags and keeping our planet clean. So much fun, so much learning and so much education on our focus area sustainability.
