Welcome to Holy Trinity Lutheran ChurchOur Mission: Share God’s Love

2 7

• Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized and trust that Christ is present in the meal, regardless of your tradition or affiliation. Pastors are available to talk about Holy Baptism if you desire to join in the Lord’s Supper.

• We share communion by intinction. Proceed to one of the stations via the center aisle. A communion server will give you bread to dip in the red wine or grape juice found in the chalice. Please return to your seat via the side aisles.

• Gluten-free bread is available at the table in the front center aisle. Remove a wafer from the bowl and pick up a cup of wine or juice, then step forward to hear the words, “given for you.”

• Children who do not yet receive communion or those who are not baptized are encouraged to come forward for a blessing. Cross your arms in front of you to signal your desire for a blessing.

• Hospitalized? Please inform the staff if you are going to be or unexpectedly admitted to the hospital.

• Children are invited and encouraged to worship with you. A supervised nursery is available on Wednesdays and Sundays for children 4 years and younger if you choose this option for all or part of the service.

• Children’s Bulletins are available from the ushers. Busy Bags are hanging in the Narthex near the Welcome Center.

• Restrooms are located on the north (women’s) and south (men’s) sides of the Narthex (lobby).• A Family/All-Gender Restroom is available on the north side of the Narthex.

Volunteers Needed for Family Promise for our next host week, December 23-30. We need people to cook, drive the van, and serve as evening and overnight hosts. Sign up at the Red Wall or online at bit.ly/htlc-FPDec2018. Contact Scott Hamilton at [email protected] with questions.

Are you interested in exploring membership at Holy Trinity? Join with others as we explore life in the Holy Trinity community. We will have an information session on Tuesday, February 12, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A light meal will be served; child care is available. Contact Lisa Strnad at [email protected] to register or with any questions.

Join a Pop-Up Choir to sing for worship on December 30! Anyone who likes to sing is welcome to attend a rehearsal at 9:15 am and sing for worship at 10:00. This is a great opportunity for anyone who isn’t able to regularly sing with the Adult Choir. Visitors and out-of-town guests are invited to join as well! No need to RSVP; just show up and sing. Contact David Fandrich with any questions.

Holy Trinity now uses a simple online system called “Realm” to share information and connect with each other. Download the Realm app for your smartphone to connect with your groups, see your giving, and register for upcoming events. Visit our web page to learn more, or stop by the church office; we can help you set it up.

Blood Drive next month! Our next blood drive is Thursday, January 3, from 2:30 - 6:00 pm. To make your appointment, call LifeServe Blood Center of Iowa or contact Susan Orth: 515-491-6677 or [email protected].

December 30 Worship & Brunch - On December 30, we will have worship only at 10:00 am, followed by brunch. We will provide pancakes & sausage; bring something else to share as we celebrate the end of 2018.

Small Discoveries Preschool Enrollment for HTLC: Before and after worship on Sunday, January 6, Small Discoveries Preschool will offer early registration to HTLC members for the 2019-2020 academic year. Visit bit.ly/htlc-Preschool for more information about our preschool. Contact preschool director Holly Randell (515-964-4348 ext. 219) with any questions or to schedule a tour.

The number of guests served by our Food Pantry continues to grow, so our need for donations of food and personal care items is also increasing. Please consider making a donation (food or monetary) to the HTLC Food Pantry today or after your next trip to the store. See the back of this bulletin for a list of most-needed items.

Wednesday Night Adult Learning with Pastor Tim will resume on January 9 in room 200 at 7:00 pm.

Bring your best chili (or something to eat with chili) to the fellowship hall after the 10:00 am worship service on January 13. We’ll share a meal and kick-off a season of prayer and discipleship that runs during the season after Epiphany, January 6 - March 3.
