    California Standards Tests (CSTs) for Science

    Who takes it?

    Students in grades five, eight, and ten are required to take the grade-level CST for Science

    (unless they are taking the CMA or CAPA).

    Students in grade eleven participating in the EAP will take the CST for EnglishLanguage Arts (ELA).

    End-of-course CSTs for Mathematics are to be administered only to students in grade eleven who are participating in the EAP.

    Students will take the test for which they meet the eligibility requirements, either the CST for Algebra II or the CST for Summative High School Mathematics.

    Test Students to be Tested

    Algebra II Students in grade eleven who wish to take the EAP mathematics section and completed an Algebra II course in the 2013 summer session or will complete it during the 201314 school year will take the CST for Algebra II.

    Summative High School Mathematics Students in grade eleven who wish to take the EAP mathematics section and meet the following requirements will take the CST for Summative High School Mathematics if: They completed Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry courses

    in previous years and completed an advanced mathematics course in the 2013 summer session or will complete it during the 201314 school year; or

    They completed a course aligned with the Integrated Mathematics 3 test blueprint in a previous year and completed an advanced mathematics course in the 2013 summer session or will complete it during the 201314 school year; or

    They completed Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry courses in previous years and are taking no mathematics course this year; or

    They completed a course aligned with the Integrated Mathematics 3 test blueprint in a previous year and are taking no mathematics course this year; or

    They are in grade eleven and took the CST for Summative High School Mathematics in a previous year; those students may retake the CST for Summative High School Mathematics.

    Be sure to mark which mathematics test the grade eleven student took and the version number.

    California Modified Assessment (CMA) for Science

    Who Takes the CMA?

    In 2014 there are no eligibility criteria.

    Students may have previously taken the Both the CST for Science and CMA for CMA, regardless of score. Science are in the grade five answer document.

    No modifications. Student must have an IEP that designates that he/she takes the CMA for Science.

    Eligible students in grades five, eight, and ten will take the grade-level CMA for Science.

    Students may NOT take a combination of CAPA and CMA.

    Standards-based Tests in Spanish (RLA)

    Which content-area test is the only STS available for students in grades two through eleven who meet the STS eligibility requirements? What are the requirements for taking the STS? Which grades are included in the STS? Which other tests must students who take the STS also take?

    California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA)

    What is the CAPA?

    How many versions of the CAPA are available in 2014? Use ONLY 2014 answer documents!

    Ensure the CAPA Level is marked in Section 7a is on the answer document.

    Observers

    Ten percent of students (at least one student) At each level tested At each school

    Must score at the same time, but independently of examiner On the answer document, mark the students name, district, school, SSID, CAPA level, grade,

    gender, local ID, and date of birth If you were an observer, record what you should write on this part of the answer document.

    If not in Pre-ID, ensure that the disability code is marked. Required if the CMA or CAPA were taken.

    Which disability should be marked for Rocky, who has no disability and no IEP? Which disability should be marked for Rita, who has autism and took the CAPA? What happens if no disability code is marked and there are marks on a grade four through seven answer document?

    After Testing: School and Grade Identification Sheet

    Fill in the following for the School and Grade Identification (SGID) sheet: Circles for School Name Which test(s): CST/CMA CAPA STS

    Ensure that the school code and grade matches the school on the answer documents. If not, school could be wrong and is not changeable. Do not enter information into the Instructional Materials section on the second page.

    At this school, no CAPA or STS students tested; however, materials were ordered. Write what you should put on the lines next to those test names.

    Pack and Return Return all answer documents from a single administration in the same shipment.

    NPS answer documents SGID school code: 0000001 With LEA materials

    Home/Hospital answer documents Return hospital- or home-tested student answer documents with the separate school code thats the same as the 7-digit county-district code.

    Labels Make sure both school and LEA have entered the correct number of boxes.
