WINDING ROADS ALGORITHM
Motorcyclists love open roads with lots of twists, hills, dips and turns. That’s why calimo-to’s unique algorithm finds the most curvy and scenic routes away from busy streets or mono-tonous, straight roads.
NAVIGATION & MAPS
calimoto‘s maps are specifical-ly designed for riders. Winding parts of a road are highlighted and relevant POI are shown directly in the map. Visual and audio turn-by-turn navigation allow the rider to shift the fo-cus away from navigating the streets, to enjoying the riding experience.
TRIP PLANNER
Routes can be planned in the mobile app or on the compu-ter, from where they will au-tomatically be synchronized with the user’s smartphone. Relevant POIs such as gas sta-tions, food places and accom-modation can be integrated in the trip.
ROUTE OPTIONS
To create the ideal itinerary, different route options can be set for the whole trip or sec-tions of the route between each waypoint. Users can choose from:

RIDE HISTORY
The log book is the user’s indi-vidual collection of future and past rides including statistic like max speed, gain and lean angle calculation. Tracked and naviga-ted routes are automatically sa-ved, and can be rated according to fun factor, scenery and road condition. For more riding fun together, users can share trips with their friends or the whole community, allowing motorcy-clists from all over the world to find the best rides.
RECOMMENDEDRIDES
Our tour recommendations are made possible with the contribution of calimoto users all over the world. In the app or in the web, users can simply get inspired to discover a new area, or search for the perfect ride with our detailed sort & filter function. It‘s not the per-fect trip yet? Of course, these recommendations can all be edited individually.
ROUND TRIPS
This exclusive feature enables motorcyclists to discover new roads by generating a random ride. Direction and trip length can be selected and then the app will automatically find the best round trip around the user’s location.
What are the advantages of smartphone navigation over dedicated GPS devices?Navigation with the smartphone is a budget-fri-endly alternative to GPS devices. Because every-body carries a smartphone anyway, it reduces the number of devices to one-for-all which is conve-nient when being out for a ride. The maps are al-ways up to date and smartphone software is ex-tendable.

Luca discovered his passion for pro-gramming during his studies of elec-tronic engineering. What started as a hobby later became his vocation. He takes care of Android development, coordinates the developers and is ca-limoto’s quality manager.
When he’s not busy nerding, Luca enjoys the vibrant nightlife of Berlin city or takes short trips to various Eu-ropean cities.
The idea for calimoto was born when Sebastian realized that trip planning for motorcyclists should be more than just getting from A to B. For his master‘s thesis in geoinformatics he developed the unique Winding Ro-ads Algorithm that finds routes with lots of curvy, scenic roads. Sebastian is CEO and responsible for all stra-tegic matters of the company. He’s taking care of product development and the website.
When he was 16 he fell in love with a Simson S51 and has never fallen out of love with two-wheeled vehicles since then. Even in the depth of win-ter he can be seen riding those twis-ty roads around Berlin on a XT660. Once a year Sebastian goes on a mo-torcycle road trip in different parts of Europe.
Hans has been riding the motorcycle for more than 15 years which makes him the most experienced rider in the team. After his studies of Busi-ness Administration he maintained loyal to motorized vehicles and wor-ked for a big car manufacturer in Stuttgart. At calimoto he‘s respon-sible for all financial and business matters. In his free time he plays so-ccer and tests the app on his Aprilia Shiver in calimoto design.

What‘s better than riding? Exactly: riding together! That‘s why our users can share their motorcycle trips with friends through the app and other social networks. However, it‘s our vision to ex-tend calimoto to a virtual travel journal where users can upload photos and videos and interact with each other by commenting, liking and following.
We want to connect motorcyclists through the app and enable them to plan trips together. For ride outs or rallies, all partici-pants will be navigated to a previously defined meeting point and they can see the location of all riders in real-time.
