CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2016 CAMWS FIRST BOOK AWARD The CAMWS Subcommittee on the First Book Award asks for your help in identifying distinguished first scholarly books published by CAMWS members in 2014, 2015, or 2016. Self-nominations are encouraged. Please send titles and publishing information to the chair of the subcommittee at [email protected]. The Committee will close its list for the 2017 award on September 1, 2016. Books published after that date may be considered for the 2018 award. The winning book(s) for 2017 will be announced at the annual CAMWS business meeting. Recipients are encouraged to accept this award in person at the annual CAMWS business meeting. Congratulations to M. Shane Bjornlie of Claremont McKenna College, winner of the 2016 award for her book, Politics and Tradition Between Rome, Ravenna and Constantinople: A Study of Cassiodorus and the Variae, 527–554 (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and to Jennifer L. Ferriss-Hill of University of Miami, winner of the 2016 award for her book, Roman Satire and the Old Comic Tradition (Cambridge University Press, 2015). These awards were announced at the Annual Meeting of CAMWS in Williamsburg, Virginia.
