History
The Paris summit of the “Barcelona Process: Union of the Mediter-ranean”,em phasizes commitment to multi-aspect Euro-Mediterranean Partnerships and dialogue. Central to such a commit-ment is collaboration in potential educational and scientific endeav-ors. In response to the demands of this new era of potential regional and intra-cultural collaboration, a group of regional scholars along with their hosting institutes initiated the “Euro-Mediterranean Con-ference on Bioengineering and Biomaterials” EMCBB. The first con-ference of the series was hosted by the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM – Meknes, Morocco & LTDS/ENISE/ECL) in March of 2009
The Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Bioengineering and Bioma-
terials EMCBB-2012 is the second conference focused on promoting scientific dialogue, and transdisciplinary research in the bio-medical field, between scholars from partner states along both banks of the Mediterranean , The conference will be organized in Fes, Moroco by the Consortium : ENSA -Fez, ENISE - Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Saint-Étienne. ENSAM- Arts et Métiers ParisTech., in July, 4, 5, 6, 2012.This edition of the conference will focus on :
Aging of human tissue: Frontiers for transdisciplinary research
Motivation and Scope
EMCBB’2012 will provide a forum where researchers, academi-cians, and industrial personnel can exchange ideas and discuss meth-odologies to tackle some of the complex problems currently facing regenerative medicine. This edition of the conference will focus on aging. The theme of the conference is, therefore, the role of trans-disciplinary research in addressing aging in human tissue. This conference brings together researchers, practitioners and new comers to the field in an international forumthat addresses recent advances in bioengineering and related scientific, healthcare, and their application approaches. These approaches are contributing to the development of analytical, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies that are directly relevant to current pressing needs. The meeting will also stimulate efforts to integrate these approaches and ideas in the Bioengineering areas that include multidisciplinary researchers. It will also serve as vehicle that strengthens relationships between industry, research laboratories, and universities.
Clinical Investigations
∗ Mechanisms of aging, longevity, centenarians ∗ Loss of mechanical properties ∗ Loss of feelings ∗ Wear of spinal links ∗ New technologies (biomarkers, imaging, stem cells...) ∗ Aging-environment interactions ∗ Ways of affecting the aging process, anti-aging ∗ Prevention of age related diseases
Tissue Engineering & Biomaterials
∗ Bioengineering of living cells ∗ Mecano transduction, magnetic transduction ∗ Artificial organs and biocompatibility ∗ Implant retrieval ∗ Wear of implants ∗ Surface engineering and quality control ∗ Nanostructures and nanotechnology ∗ Biomaterials characterization (surface integrity, mechanics, tribology, imaging...) ∗ Clinical applications of tissue engineering & biomaterials ∗ Aging effects
Bioengineering & Aging
∗ Brain and neural engineering ∗ Bioengineering of living tissues (bone, cartilage, blood vessels, blader, eye skin, hair, arters, muscle, creed, heart...)
∗ Nano-biotechnology ∗ Non invasive biosensors ∗ Biomechanics ∗ Biometrology ∗ Biomedical instrumentation ∗ Biotribology ∗ Biomimetism ∗ Optical methods ∗ Acoustic methods ∗ Medical Imaging (XR, IRM, ultrasonore, multi-photon confocal mi-croscopy, 3D & 4D imaging, atomic force microscopy)
∗ Signal and image processing ∗ Telemedicine ∗ 2D & 3D image correlation, identification and inverse approaches
∗ Computational methods ∗ Prototyping and manufacturing of biomaterials ∗ Aging & anti-aging applications
Abstract submission
Authors wishing to present a contribution are kindly requested to submit an abstract (200-250 words) including title, author names, affiliation, and complete correspondence information for the lead author if any. Abstracts should also include four key words and a classification for the suggested topic. The abstract as well as manuscripts must be edited according to the instructions provided on the conference webpage : http://www.emc2b2012.org The Language of the conference is English
Important dates
Call for paper February, 12th 2012 Deadline for abstract submission April, 10th 2012 Notification for acceptance April, 30th 2012 Submission of Final manuscripts May, 31st 2012 Deadline for reduced conference fees June, 30th 2012
Conference Location
Fez, the former capital, is one of the country's four "imperial cities of Morocco. It comprises three distinct parts, Fez el Bali (the old, walled city), Fez-Jdid (new Fez, home of the Mellah) and the Ville Nouvelle (the French-created, newest section of Fez). Fez el Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its medina, the larger of the two medinas of Fez, is believed to be the world's largest contigu-ous car-free urban area. The University of Al-Karaouine, founded in AD 859, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. It has been called the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa
