MEETING REPORTS

ASI BOD MEETING Thursday, June 18, 2020

Dr. Liz Roosa Millar ASI Executive Director’s Report

Human • One of our Intramural Sports Assistant Supervisors, Katrina Flores, was invited by an

NBA Regional Scout to officiate at a Pro-Am (professional-amateur) basketball camp in late June. Cynthia Do, CPP alum (Spring 2019), was also invited to officiate at the camp. Agon Abazi, Competitive Sports Graduate Assistant, was invited to serve as an evaluator. On a related note, a colleague at UC Riverside heard from a collegiate basketball official that Cal Poly Pomona is being talked about at the collegiate level for developing a lot of talented officials. Word is out! ASI’s Competitive Sports Team is led by Kaycee Tanioka who has served ASI for six years.

Programs • The Poly Pantry has received 430 responses to our shopper feedback survey from this year.

We will be analyzing the information in the coming weeks to identify ways to better serve our students in need.

• We are also extremely grateful to report that in October, Joe Simoneschi’s (Assistant to the AVP for Finance & Administrative Services) team raised $379 and Kimberley Allain’s (AVP of Employee & Organizational Development & Advancement in the Division of Administrative Affairs) team raised $211 for a total of $590 to support students experiencing food insecurity.

• We will be giving this donation to students in the form of 20 - $15 grocery store gift cards, and 29 - $10 Bronco Bucks gift cards, for completing the survey and entering the opportunity drawing.

• Do you follow cppcampusrec on Instagram? If not, you may want to start now so you don’t miss out on Adventures’ “Leave No Trace” series highlighting Outdoor ethics and recommended best practices for those using our shared outdoor spaces over the summer break. There is no better place to practice physical distancing than in our beautiful regional, state and national parks (except the beaches – they are really crowded). Our very own Ian Navarro, Adventure Education Coordinator, is certified as a Master Educator for Leave No Trace and he has been serving ASI for almost 4 years.

complete! Project scope included additional LED lighting installed within the bouldering area to facilitate storage, additional outlets within the wall for efficient charging of maintenance tools, and additional outlets installed within the suite to support special events.

ASI BOARD OF DIRECTORS REPORT

DATE: June 17, 2020

Submitted By: Hillary Deleon (Greek Council Senator at Large)

Meetings/Committee(s) Notes:

• N/A Continuing Projects:

• Greek Council o Fundraising opportunity for the black lives matter movement. Spoke about

the possibility of creating stickers, cups, and t-shirts to sell and all the benefits will be given to a fundraiser of Greek Council’s choice.

• Title IX o Going to a meeting with CPP’s police department next Monday.

Projects / Goals:

• Title IX o I would like the opportunity to work with title IX to improve victim care

and response time. Training also needs improvement as students do not comprehend the information given to them via online videos and quizzes.

• Integration: o I desire to improve the integration of student life with Cal Poly. Whether it

be Freshmen, transfer students, or Alumni I would like to create a better connection and sense of community between Cal Poly and our students.

• Freshmen Life o Freshmen are at a disadvantage of their freshmen experience due to

COVID- 19. I want to find new methods where freshmen can look forward to attending Cal Poly and embracing their new home for the next four years.
