Instructional Procedures:
Set: Explain to the students that through learning strategies, they will
improve their listening and reading skills. Ask students to write down everything
they know about butterflies in their science journal. Divide class into 4 groups.
Warm – up:

know about butterflies and one thing they would like to learn about
butterflies.

questions given on the handout.
2) With the information given so far, students will complete a personal chart of
the life cycle of the butterfly.
Team Application of Language Learning Strategies:
1) In groups, students will discuss their life cycle charts and make any
corrections as a group.
2) In groups, students will draw one stage of the life cycle as assigned by the
teacher and then write 2 sentences about that stage.
3) They will use a dictionary, encyclopedia, internet, or any of the literature
selections.
Closure: The groups will present their posters and read the sentences they wrote.
Finished posters will be put in the hallway for the rest of the school to see.
