About Calling Search Space SetupIn Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, use the Call Routing > Class of Control >Calling Search Space menu path to configure calling search spaces (CSS).
A calling search space comprises an ordered list of route partitions that are typically assigned to devices.Calling search spaces determine the partitions that calling devices search when they are attempting to completea call.
Calling Search Space DeletionsYou cannot delete calling search spaces that devices, lines (DNs), translation patterns, or other items are using.To find out which devices, lines, translation patterns, or other items are using the calling search space, choosethe Dependency Records from the Related Links drop-down list box in the Calling Search Space Configurationwindow and click Go. If the dependency records are not enabled for the system, the dependency recordssummary window displays a message. If you try to delete a calling search space that is in use, Cisco UnifiedCommunications Manager displays a message. Before deleting a calling search space that is currently in use,you must perform either or both of the following tasks:
• Assign a different calling search space to any devices, lines, or translation patterns that are using thecalling search space that you want to delete.
• Delete the devices, lines, or translation patterns that are using the calling search space that you want todelete.

Before initiating this deletion, check carefully to ensure that you are deleting the correct calling search space.You cannot retrieve deleted calling search spaces. If you accidentally delete a calling search space, you mustrebuild it.

Calling Search Space Information
Enter a name in the Calling Search Space Name field.The name can comprise up to 50 alphanumericcharacters and can contain any combination of spaces,periods (.), hyphens (-), and underscore characters(_). Ensure each calling search space name is uniqueto the system.
Use concise and descriptive names for yourcalling search spaces. TheCompanynameLocationCalltype formatusually provides a sufficient level of detailand is short enough to enable you toquickly and easily identify a calling searchspace. For example, CiscoDallasMetroCSidentifies a calling search space fortoll-free, inter-local access and transportarea (LATA) calls from the Cisco officein Dallas.

Enter a description in the Description field. Thedescription can include up to 50 characters in anylanguage, but it cannot include double-quotes ("),percentage sign (%), ampersand (&), back-slash (\),or angle brackets ().

Choose a partition in the Available Partitions list boxand add it to the Selected Partitions list box byclicking the arrow button between the two list boxes.
To add a range of partitions at once, click the firstpartition in the range; then, hold down the Shift keywhile clicking the last partition in the range. Click thearrow button between the two list boxes to add therange of partitions.
To add multiple partitions that are not contiguous,hold down the Control (Ctrl) key while clickingmultiple partitions. Click the arrow button betweenthe two list boxes to add the chosen partitions.
The length of the partition names limits themaximum number of partitions that can beadded to a calling search space. The callingsearch space partition limitations tableprovides examples of the maximumnumber of partitions that can be added toa calling search space if partition namesare of fixed length.

To change the priority of a partition, choose a partitionname in the Selected Partitions list box. Move thepartition up or down in the list by clicking the arrowson the right side of the list box.
