CAMENERGY 2020: THE ONE-STOP PLATFORM FORCAMBODIA’S ENERGY INDUSTRYCambodia has been experiencing high economic progression over the past 5 years, and this is forecasted to connue to 2020 and beyond. In line with the Kingdom’s rising populaon, expanding economy and urbanisaon, the Government of Cambodia has been pushing for increasing energy access and security, and the reducon in the cost of energy.

In order to meet the country’s rising energy demand, the following policy targets have been set:

2020: 100% of villages should have access to electricity.

2030: At least 70% of total households in the Kingdom to have access to quality grid-supplied electricity

Thus, demand for electricity and its related supplies are set to skyrocket. The Kingdom is filled with an abundant of opportunies for power generaon and transmission equipment. The best place to uncover these opportunies is at CAMENERGY 2020 – Cambodia’s No.1 Internaonal Power Generaon, Transmission, Distribuon and Electrical Engineering Show. CAMBODIAN POWER & ELECTRICITY SEMINAR 2019 Theme: “Energy Affordability & Security”

The Cambodian Power and Electricity Seminar 2020 will run alongside CAMENERGY 2020. Themed “Energy Affordability & Security”, the Seminar will feature a panel of internaonal experts presenng papers on the latest ideas and soluons, focused on sustainable developing Cambodia’s electrical power producon, transmission and distribuon in line with the Kingdom’s energy targets for 2030, and the longer tem. For those interested to present a paper at the Cambodian Power and Electricity Seminar 2020, please submit the tle and synopsis of your paper to Ms. Limy at [email protected].

MARKET UPDATEThe Kingdom currently generates about 272MW of its energy through oil-powered electricity plants, 660MW through coal-fired plants, 1,330MW through hydropower plants, and 164MW through renewables.

Cambodia’s Current Energy Mix:

As of 2017, approximately 82% of villages received access to grid-connected electricity through the expansion of distribuon lines, up 67% from 2015. An addional 16% of villages are covered by a distribuon licence zone and are expecng to receive grid-connected electricity in the near future.

Goal of Naonal Grid Development by 2020:

WHAT’S IN THE WORKSThe aucon of a 60MW solar project in Cambodia has resulted in the lowest PV power purchase tariff reportedly seen in Southeast Asia to date, at US$38.77 per MWh. The 60MW output will be generated by the Kingdom’s Naonal Solar Park, a 100MW project planned northwest of Phnom Penh.

Cambodia and Laos signed an agreement under which the Kingdom will purchase 2,400MW from its neighbour, with the first transfer scheduled for 2024.

Finnish energy technology group Wärtsilä will be supplying a dozen dual-fuel engines that will deliver 200MW of electricity to a new power plant in Cambodia. The plant will be delivered on a fast track basis and is due to be fully operaonal in 2020. Wärtsilä’s 12 dual-fuel engines will provide fast-starng and balancing flexibility to improve grid stability and reliability.

DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT, HERE’SWHAT OUR EXHIBITORS HAD TO SAY:

TARGETS BY 2030:
