Mr. Sajjanhar began his talk by familiarising the audience with the geo – political alignment of the

East Asian Peninsula. He used the historical time line to explain the changing nature of

relationship between North and South Korea. Mr. Sajjanhar brought out an interesting historical

fact of an Indian princess, Suryaratna of Ayodhya who was married to the king of Korea in ancient

times. His talk focussed on the isolation and impoverishment of North Korea due to its association

with China. He spoke on the nuclear timeline of DPRK and how North Korea was labelled as “an

axis of evil” along with Iran and Iraq by President G.W. Bush of USA.

It was only in 2018 that the relations thawed between North Korea and U.S with the Trump- Kim

summit held in Singapore. Reflecting on the summit Mr. Sajjanhar felt that it was only bones and

no flesh as there was no clarity on how the process of denuclearisation would take place. Mr.
