CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL, NOIDA MONTHLY REPORT FOR OCTOBER 2019 SCHOOL EVENTS GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS On 3 rd October, 2019, Cambridge School, Noida organised a cultural event in the Roma Deb auditorium to commemorate the 150 th birth anniversary of the father of the nation-Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Students also paid tribute to India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri by celebrating his birth anniversary. Students of Classes VI to XII witnessed students of various classes who enlightened them about the life, ideals and priceless teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. They recited poems, read short stories and the students were also shown snippets from the movie Gandhi. Dr. Mahesh Chandra Chaturvedi who has pledged to live his life based on the ideals of Gandhi graced the occasion. Mr S P Sharma encouraged the students to learn from Gandhi’s principles and to apply them in our daily life to become better human beings. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and also encouraged them to give cleanliness utmost priority. He also urged the students to promote the ban of plastic for an eco-friendly environment. SCHOOL EVENTS

GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS

On 3rd October, 2019, Cambridge School, Noida organised a cultural event in the Roma Deb

auditorium to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation-Mohandas

Karamchand Gandhi. Students also paid tribute to India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur

Shastri by celebrating his birth anniversary. Students of Classes VI to XII witnessed students of

DISTRICT INTERACT LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY

Forty Interact club students of classes X and XI accompanied by the Interact Club Teacher in

Charge Ms. Garima Seth attended the Installation Ceremony on 16thOctober, 2019 at G L Bajaj

Institute Gr. Noida where both the former and new DIR exchanged badges and expressed their

Noida was given the badge along with other ZIRs. The visit was an enriching experience for all the

interactors as they were motivated to take up new projects in future and work for the community

with greater zeal.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

On 19th October 2019, the Interact Club of Cambridge School Noida in association with Rotary

Club, Noida organized a Blood Donation Camp assisted by a team of doctors from the Rotary

Blood Bank. The camp was graced by Mr. Ram Grover, President, Rotary Club and Rotarian Maj

Dalbir Singh. There was an overwhelming response from parents and teachers and 33 units of

blood was collected. A donation card from the Blood Bank, refreshments and a small token of

appreciation was given to each donor.

CHARITY SALE: PROJECT OF SEWA

On 19thOctober, 2019, on the day of the PTM, students of Classes VI to XII of Cambridge School,

Noida sold items like book marks, wooden crafts, candles, decorated diyas and food items which

they had prepared under the guidance of Ms Madhumita Ray, Richa Sharma and Work- Ex

teachers in charges. They were able to collect Rs 9260/- which will be spent on community

service.

VISIT TO GOONJ

The Interact club of Cambridge School, Noida visited an NGO, Goonj, in Sarita Vihar which mainly

focuses on providing clothes to the needy. The organization has also adopted the policy of zero

waste where they recycle all clothing that they receive. Cambridge School, Noida collected a lot of

clothing through donations from all the classes for this activity.

Community Service

CANTEEN-CHARITY SALE

On 21st October, 2019, the Interact Club members of classes IX and X organized a canteen sale to

raise funds for charity. Food items like iced tea, sweet corn, brownies and bhelpuri were sold to

the students. The Interactors collected a good amount of money which they have planned to

spend on buying gifts for children and donate them at an orphanage.

ADULT LITERACY

On 24th October, 2019 the Interact Club members of Class XI initiated the Each One Teach Two

programme. They taught the school cleaning staff members how to write and sign their names.

They also briefed them about the basic legal rights that each one is guaranteed by the constitution

of our country. The session lasted for about 45 minutes.

PARENT TEACHER MEET

Parent Teacher meeting was held on 19thOctober, 2019 for classes VI to XII. Report Cards for Half

Yearly Exams were given to the parents of students of classes VI to IX and XI. Report Cards of

second term exams were given to parents of students of classes X and XII. Feedback was taken

from the parents for the improvement of the school.

INTERACTION THROUGH VIDEO CONFERENCING

In continuation with our school’s endeavour to provide students a platform for international

exposure, the students of classes X, XI and XII interacted with students from Germany and

Ukraine via video conferencing on 23rd October 2019. This interaction was a great learning

experience for the enthusiastic students.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS

SANSKRIT SEMINAR

A seminar on Sanskrit Vangmayam was conducted at Cambridge School, Noida on 10th October

2019 by Ms. Vimal Tyagi (HOD, Sanskrit) in which 30 students from classes VIII to X participated

enthusiastically. The seminar began with a Saraswati Vandana followed by a Power Point

presentation on Sanskrit Vangmayam. Ishavasay Upnishada Shlok Gayan was presented by the

students of class VIII A. Research work on Sanskrit Vaidik Vangmayam and Lokik Vangmayam

supported by a PPT was presented by Ms. Vimal Tyagi. Vedanga, a drama was presented by the

students of class X. Sadbhawna Sanskrit Geetam from the School Almanac was sung by the

students of class VIII B and IX D.

Mr. Awdesh Jha (HOD, Sanskrit) of Cambridge School, Indirapuram, teachers and Ms Nandita

Sinha Roy, Vice Principal, Cambridge School, Noida graced the event. The presentation was

appreciated by one and all.

NEST MAKING WORKSHOP

A workshop on “Nest Making “was conducted for class VIII on 11th October, 2019 at Cambridge

school, Noida in the Audio Visual Room by Mr. Rakesh Khatri who is an Environmentalist and a

Limca Book Record Holder for Theatre on Climate Change. The workshop started with the

Resource Person interacting with students about their awareness on commonly found birds in their

neighbourhood. Mr. Rakesh Khatri discussed the need for conserving sparrows as the population

of these species are on the verge of extinction. Students were taught to make nests using bamboo

framework, cloth, coir and thread. The workshop was educative, enlightening and informative and

the students thoroughly enjoyed making the nests.

GEOGRAPHY THEATRE

A theatre workshop on the topic Features Formed by the River was conducted by the Social

Science Department, Cambridge School, Noida on 23rd October, 2019 in the Roma Deb

auditorium. Students of Class VII participated in the workshop which was attended by the students

as well as the parents of the participants. The workshop focussed on the features formed by

rivers like a V-shaped valley, waterfall, canyon meanders, Ox-bow Lake and finally the formation

of delta. The students also presented a mime which depicted how rivers are polluted and their

conservation. Various ways to conserve water was also discussed. The workshop ended with an

interactive session between students, their parents and Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice Principal

Academics. Overall, the theatre was extremely enlightening and informative.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS

THE AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM WORKSHOP

A two day teachers training workshop on The Awakened Citizen Program was conducted on 9th

and 10th October, 2019 at Delhi World Public School, Noida Extension by Ramakrishna Ashram

Mission. Principal, Ms. Jyoti Arora addressed the audience with a short story which concluded with

a quote on how to mould the student’s mind and enlighten them with positive values. It was

followed by an introductory discussion by the delegates of Ramkrishna Mission. Ms. Suhasini gave

a brief explanation on the curriculum to be followed in the classroom. The team members of

Ramakrishna Mission discussed various possibilities which can be inculcated among the students.

Teachers were asked to apply the method of DART- Discovery, Acceptance, Reflection and

Transmission which were explained through videos and power point presentations. On the second

day teachers were divided into groups and they were asked to present a play based on the six

universal possibilities. The workshop ended with distribution of certificates to the participant

teachers. Books and CDs related to the workshop were given to the teachers. The workshop

which was attended by Ms. Garima Seth and Ms. Neelam Sharma of Cambridge School, Noida

and around 60 teachers from NCR was educative, informative and enlightening.

HEYMATH ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

In the course of incorporating emerging trends of educational technology and enhancing the

learning output, Cambridge School, Noida introduced ‘HeyMath – a web based platform to learn

Mathematics’ for the students of class VI. The school organised an hour long orientation

programme for the parents of Class VI students on 17thOctober, 2019 to introduce 'HeyMath' and

make them aware of its unique features. The Resource Person Ms. Aditi Dhabu, explained how it

enriches the class room experience and helps the child in self-paced learning. She highlighted the

exclusive features of HeyMaths such as Personalised learning, Adaptive test and standard

test, Prasso etc. through live-in demonstration. Also, some of the handy tips related to accessing

the HeyMath account, account recovery, progress report viewing, student's activity report etc were

shared with the parents. As individual accounts of all the students of classes VI have been

created to utilize the HeyMath resources, Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice Principal, and the teachers

from the Mathematics department urged the parents to guide their child in exploring the content.

Overall, it was an informative session for the parents. The workshop witnessed a lively interaction

among enthusiastic parents.

POCSO ACT

On 19th October, 2019 Cambridge School, Noida organised a talk on the topic POCSO Act. The

resource persons were Ms Roomki Mitra and Ms Kirti Sasan who covered the psychological and

the legal aspects of the POCSO ACT, its recent amendment and Visakha Guidelines. The

workshop had discussions and brainstorming on the prevalent concerns related to the two

legislations. The workshop was attended by the teaching and nonteaching staff of both Junior and

Senior wing.

COMMERCE PRESENTATION

The Commerce Department of Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri gave a presentation on Principles

of Insurance on 25th October, 2019. Technicalities of various insurance policies were discussed.

It was a crisp and informative presentation attended by Ms. Preeti Sharma from Cambridge

School, Noida.

A.C. Deb Inter School Football Tournament was held from 30th October, 19 – 2nd November, 19

in which thirteen schools from Delhi and NCR participated. The final match was played

between Cambridge School, Noida and Ryan International School, Noida wherein, Cambridge

School, Noida emerged victorious and bagged the overall trophy.
