PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Dear parents and caregivers,
What a fortnight of learning! Here’s some of the highlights! Kindy Project Update Kindy are well into their first Project-Based Learning journey! They have been working in groups to redesign our Learning Hub into a more user friendly space. This week they have been creating prototypes, mood boards and contacting experts – watch this space!
Stage 1 Stage 1 have been preparing their performances for an aged-care facility. They have been writing scripts, making props, rehearsing and even cooking some delicious cakes to share with their audience.
Stage 2 Culminating Event Last Thursday, Stage 2 students shared a range of products to address their Driving Question, ‘How can CPS use energy more sustainably to help reduce our impact on the environment?’ Their impressive and diverse products included: films, posters, systems for our school, books and models of sustainable classrooms. The students confidently shared their understanding of why we need to help reduce our impact on the environment. Their ideas have already started to be implemented across the school! Last week, we stopped for an energy free hour and this Friday’s mufti day (as well as the upcoming disco) funds will go towards repairing our solar panels. One of the Stage 2 groups have registered us for an Inner West initiative, ‘Solar My School’ which helps schools ‘reduce energy bills, educate students and shrink their carbon footprint with solar power’. We’re looking forward to seeing the rest of the students’ ideas come to fruition!
Stage 3 Project Update Stage 3 had an extremely informative and relevant expert visit this week. Tees to Totes, created by one of our community members, visited to share the great work that they do to reduce the use of plastic bags by upcycling old t-shirts and fabrics into beautiful bags! Just a reminder that Stage Three will be sharing their final products around sustainable fibres from 8:30-9:30am on Wednesday 11/12/19, all families are welcome to pop in and check out the great work that they have been doing. Cookbook Launch! Last year, our Stage 3 students created a cookbook to raise funds for the Asylum Seeker Centre. The books have arrived and we’re ready to launch them! We will hold the book launch in the hall on Thursday 12 December at 5pm. We will also send out details via school stream about how you can purchase a copy if you can not make the launch. We’re looking forward to welcoming back last years, Year 6 students to share their hard work on the book. End of Year Assembly and Year Six Festivities Our assembly to celebrate and farewell our Year 6 students will be at 9:30am on Tuesday 17 December. All families are welcome to attend. WAR ON E-WASTE UPDATE Congratulations Camdenville community! We recycled 111kg of e-waste in partnership with SIMS Recycling Solutions. SIMS recycle up to 98% of the waste they are given, that means nearly all of the 111kg from Camdenville were saved from land fill. What a great effort! The war on E-waste will be back in 2020.
STUDENT ABSENCES As the school year comes to and end please remember to notify the school office of any
outstanding student absences so we may finalise all attendance for Camdenville PS.
ROAD SAFETY It has been bought to our attention that some students are being unsafe on the roads around our school and when using the zebra crossing on Alice St. Students need to wait until the crossing supervisor determines it is safe to cross. She will walk onto the road with her red ‘stop’ sign and only then, are you permitted to cross the road. Some factors can contribute to poor visibility for drivers including the morning and afternoon sun, therefore it is imperative these road rules are followed at all times. students to come to school so that they can complete their Best Start Assessments. About Earthbeats - Keyboard Kids
Keyboard Kids is part of the Earthbeats Music program which began within Marrickville Council Children’s Services and has been running in Sydney’s Inner West for over 10
years.
Keyboard Kids Program The Keyboard Kids program utilizes award winning Australian Encore books & CDs,
along with Earthbeats Music activities. The program is especially designed for children 5 - 12years. Keyboard Kids encourages children to explore and play within a diverse
range of styles, from pop to jazz and classical music. The program takes children through the full duration of primary school learning. Keyboard Kids is compatible with
Australian school music programs & later graded AMEB.
Learning Outcomes
Keyboard Kids sets a happy, solid musical foundation with a holistic and personal approach. Lessons are run one on one, to very small groups, to ensure children can learn to play piano really well and read music confidently, in a way that’s lots of fun.
Fees for Keyboard Kids
Fees are $36 for 30mins for a solo lesson or $34 for 40mins for a small group lesson (2-3 children maximum). Keyboard Kid’s fees are on par with local charges for a qualified
and experienced music teacher, if not slightly less, to allow more children an opportunity. A trial class is also an option, including a once off lesson fee. The program
runs in 10 week terms, approx. to the school term.

To register your child for Keyboard Kids please email us with your name and phone number. Please email your child’s ; full name, D.O.B and year they are in at school.
Please let us know your preference for day / time between 3 - 7pm. And we will be in touch shortly to book you in!
